Chapter 370: Chapter 7: The Changing of an Era

Finally,

after so many years of careful nurturing, there is finally someone in Lynch’s Witch Domain who has reached the Wizard Level. Just as he expected, it was none other than Alya of the Light Church who successfully advanced to wizard.

Counting the time, it’s only been a little over ten years since Lynch took over her training. Initially, she was just a Low-level Apprentice, yet in just over a decade, she has reached the Wizard Level. This talent is truly outstanding.

Of course, apart from her personal hard work, Lynch also played a significant role in her advancement.

He spent a fortune purchasing materials from Seren to concoct Su Ya Water and personally crafted the Su Ya Water for Alya. He provided every other cultivation resource possible, you could even say it was achieved through piling resources.

Although a single wizard doesn’t bring a significant boost to Lynch’s Witch Domain, it does send an exceptionally positive signal.

This signal is that his cultivation mechanism in the Witch Domain is successful.

Don’t underestimate this. Cultivating a wizard is extremely difficult. Take the Ancient Ruins as an example; among the countless Wizard Organizations across the entire area, only a few hundred, if not fewer, can actually cultivate an Official Wizard.

If a Wizard Organization can cultivate an Official Wizard, it sets a goal and an example for other apprentices in the organization and greatly enhances the cohesion of the entire force.

Where there’s one, there will be two. Slowly, more apprentices will advance to wizard, and Lynch’s Witch Domain will naturally ascend to a higher tier of overall strength.

This is a world where great power returns to oneself. The primary factor determining the strength of a Wizard Power is still the high-level individuals within it.

The value of an apprentice is very limited; in fact, their greatest value lies in their potential.

The number of Knights began to enter an explosive phase, and the number of wizards also witnessed growth. If this continues, Lynch’s Witch Domain will only become stronger.

As these followers grow stronger, they will create higher-value returns for him, explore higher-level relics, engrave more powerful Undead creatures for him, and bring back higher-level knowledge fragments to him.

The ultimate result is the gradual enhancement of his own power!

Time flies, and in the blink of an eye, several more years have passed.

The fifteenth year of the development of Lynch’s Witch Domain.

Feiyan City, Lord Castle.

In the top-level conference hall of the Lord Castle, Lynch sat on a chair.

Earlier today, he received a message from Greywell, who had something very important to hand over to him.

“Tap, tap, tap…” At this moment, footsteps sounded from outside.

Soon after, the conference room door opened.

Greywell appeared at the doorway.

Compared to the first time Lynch met him, Greywell now appeared distinctly more aged. The sparse hair on his head had turned completely white, his face wrinkled like aged tree bark, his back hunched like a shrimp, and he needed a cane to walk, with support beside him.

Beside Greywell was a young man, around twenty-something, handsome in appearance, with a light of determined ambition in his eyes, exuding the vigor and energy of youth.

The young man supported Greywell into the hall.

The elderly man addressed Erwin, “Alright, Erwin, let go of my hand; I need to walk this part myself.”

Erwin complied but remained vigilant at Greywell’s side, constantly watching his movements.

Greywell leaned on his cane, trembling as he approached Lynch, taking quite a bit of time for such a short distance to reach Lynch.

With a smile, the old man bowed to Lynch, saying, “Thank you for waiting, Master Wizard.”

Lynch shook his head, “Compared to you, my bit of time is insignificant.”

Greywell has proven to be the most valuable talent Lynch ever discovered. Don’t be fooled by the fact that he’s just a mortal; he’s truly devoted to the development of Lynch’s Witch Domain. For the past fifteen years, he has worked tirelessly for its growth, truly embodying Lynch’s will.

It’s no exaggeration to say that the current development of Lynch’s Witch Domain, including the achievements of the Adventurer Guild, owes much to the elderly man standing before him!

Yet, unfortunately…

Lynch’s gaze swept over Greywell’s head, noting the dwindling time, regretting the brevity of mortal life.

Humans’ lives are like this, simply too fleeting.

Lynch has tried to extend his lifespan, but the results were less than ideal. Attempting the Transcendent path to prolong life, especially for someone with limited remaining life, is an exorbitant cost.

“Cough! Cough!”

Greywell coughed twice and then said, “I have handed over the affairs of Feiyan City to Erwin. While I wish to continue working hard for you, time does not allow it, and I can accompany you only this far. The rest is up to Erwin. Erwin, go and present yourself to your master.”

Greywell’s main reason for meeting Lynch this time was to tender his resignation. His health was declining, making it difficult to manage the heavy affairs of Feiyan City.

In his remaining time, he planned to visit the Church, allow the Light Priestess to help nurture his health, and quietly wait for the call of the Light Goddess.

The young man stepped forward, bowing meticulously towards Lynch, “Master.”

Lynch replied, “No need for formality; just call me Wizard like your teacher does.”

The young man nodded, “Alright, Master Wizard.”

Lynch’s gaze fell upon the young man, looking him up and down before turning to Greywell, asking, “Is this the child you introduced me to at the bonfire dinner?”

Greywell nodded with a smile, “Yes, you remember!”

Lynch nodded, feeling somewhat sentimental. He raised his hand to his knee, drawing a comparison, “I remember back then he was only this tall, up to my knee. In the blink of an eye, he’s already an adult.”

In his memory, the bonfire dinner seemed like it was just yesterday.

Greywell also remarked sentimentally, “Indeed, I’ve grown older, yet you remain as you were when I first met you.”

Lynch nodded, “Thank you for all you’ve done for me along the way.”

Lynch felt using terms like ’subordinate’ or ’follower’ to describe Greywell’s identity was inappropriate. In his eyes, the elder before him had transcended these labels, deserving of his sincere gratitude.

Greywell shook his head, “You are too kind; the one who should truly express gratitude is me.”

He laughed brightly.

Though his body was withering, his eyes remained bright and dazzling, like those of a young man.

Greywell confidently stated, “It was you who gave me the opportunity to try, to bring such change to this world, and to make my life—once confined by rules and systems—extraordinary, allowing me…”

“To accomplish everything I pursued in my childhood!”

In July of the Year 10060 of the Wizard Calendar, the ruler of Feiyan City, the Supreme Governor, who single-handedly created the Council system and established the Adventurer Guild, Greywell Croft, after ruling for 15 years, announced his resignation.

Greywell’s resignation also marked the end of the Greywell era.

In the same month, Greywell’s student, Erwin Kano, took over the Scepter of power, becoming the new Governor of Feiyan City at the age of just 22.

Feiyan City has entered Erwin’s era!
