Clan Prosperity Starting With My Servant Girls

Chapter 527: Playing Dead

Chapter 527: Playing Dead

Lao Er slowly opened the door and crouched onto the ground, keeping his profile as low as possible.

One step after another, he slowly crept out from the firewood shed.

He dashed and reached for the well next.

Thud.

While he was dashing towards the wall, he accidentally kicked a rock that was lying on the ground.

His heart skipped a beat and he quickly hid behind the well.

Then, he waited and listened.

Thankfully there was only his short and quick breath.

Other than that, there were the hoots from birds in the woods and the fake sound of pain from Lin Xuan Qi.

Lao Er glanced back at Ling Er, where she was peeping through the slit from the opened door of the firewood shed.

He nodded his head at her and she gave out a sigh before doing the same.

After which, Lao Er crept out from behind the wall and headed towards where the sound of Lin Xuan Qi was.

What was ahead couldn’t have been expected by him.

"Huh..." He startled for a moment when he saw the gruesome scene that awaited him.

He recognized the cultivation robes that the senior martial brother and the other disciple wore.

And they were now dead with their heads a mangled mass of blood, flesh and bones.

Even their white matter could be seen in the surroundings.

Instinctively, he gagged and wanted to puke but he stopped himself by covering his mouth with his hand.

Finally, after so long. Lin Xuan Qi thought when he saw Lao Er standing there, trying to compose himself.

He raised his bloodied hand at Lao Er and said in a coarse voice, "Come over here, help me..."

Lao Er took a slow breath when he heard Lin Xuan Qi and shook his head to get himself out of the shock that he had.

It worked and he took a step forward warily.

"Do you have something that can help me... a recovery pill perhaps?" Lin Xuan Qi asked and Lao Er shook his head frantically.

Cough.

Lin Xuan Qi gave out a cough and his hand slowly came down.

That made Lao Er panic.

"There is a well over there, let me try and get some of the water for you." He pointed at the back where the well was and he turned around to fetch the water from the well.

That was the only thing Lao Er could think of to help Lin Xuan Qi so he went for it.

Lin Xuan Qi lay on the ground and thought that Lao Er was good-natured from what he had seen so far.

It was maybe better this way.

If Lao Er was someone with greed or a hypocrite like the cultivators he had dealt with so far, he might not consider making Lao Er his candidate to set up his new sect.

Selecting someone suitable was a tough and difficult decision, so Lin Xuan Qi had to be cautious with it, as he didn’t want to make a huge mistake.

And so far, Lao Er and Ling Er were doing fine.

It didn’t take too long for Lao Er to come back to him.

He came back with a pail in his hand that had some water in it.

The pail attached to a rope was by the side of the well for the purpose of carrying the water out from the well.

"Here you go." Lao Er said and he tried to help Lin Xuan Qi up.

But Lin Xuan Qi shook his head and said, "It’s too late..."

Cough.

He gave out another cough and pointed at the old temple.

"Before I go... There is an incense urn inside the temple, it’s a precious Artifact that could help in your cultivation... I’ve been searching for it for years so don’t waste the opportunity to do so."

"Huh? Artifact? Cultivation?" Things were happening too fast for Lao Er and he didn’t know what to do next.

Lin Xuan Qi didn’t give him a chance to find out more.

His body and arms went limp the next moment and he stopped breathing.

"Wait... Are you alright? Wake up!" Lao Er shook him but he remained motionless.

That was a huge shock to Lao Er.

The realization that someone had died in his arms made Lao Er anxious for a moment.

He gasped a breath of air and stood up instinctively, not knowing what to do next.

No matter how hard he tried, he couldn’t think of anything to help.

Lao Er and Ling Er didn’t have any resources like pills on them or any knowledge that could heal someone.

He tried calling at Lin Xuan Qi and shaking him again but it was the same.

Lin Xuan Qi lay motionlessly with blood covering all over his body.

In Lao Er’s mind, Lin Xuan Qi had helped him and Ling Er to kill off the Kong Shan Sect disciples.

And yet, he couldn’t do anything to help in return.

A sense of overwhelming anger and helplessness came over him and he clenched his fist.

If only he wasn’t such a useless weakling.

When he thought about being so, the final words from Lin Xuan Qi came into his mind.

Incense Urn. Artifact. Cultivate.

Yes. That should be it.

Cultivate!

Yes, that was what he came here for and he made a decision.

Lao Er gave a deep bow to Lin Xuan Qi and said, "I’m so sorry for not being able to save you in time.

"I shall do what you’ve requested and become one of the most powerful cultivators in Da Qian."

He said and turned around to head for the firewood shed.

After he left, Lin Xuan Qi got up and dusted the dirt away from his body.

He snorted at Lao Er in the distance and thought silently to himself, "Well, at least he is ambitious like I am."

There were so many things that Lao Er needed to learn but to do so, he would need to ensure that the next step of his plan worked.

Lin Xuan Qi took out another invisible talisman and directed his Five-Element Qi into it.

"Ling Er!" Lao Er got to the firewood shed and called out to her.

Creak.

The doors of the firewood shed creaked and slowly opened.
