Chapter 1521
Chapter 1521: Section 1522 Cold Winter Power Chapter 1521: Section 1522 Cold Winter Power Aside from Lianna, Angel also knew Wallace.
Wallace, still dressed in all white, sat by the bar table on one side of the hall, conversing with a female apprentice with short black hair.
This female apprentice had a striking appearance, with eyes the color of wisteria and neatly cropped black hair, and her deep crimson lips carried an exotic charm; her eyes resembled those of a cat, slightly narrowed with vertical pupils, adding a touch of sternness to her demeanor.
Angel was familiar with her as well; she was known as one of the strongest apprentices of the current era in Barbarian Cave.
A disciple of Wallace and also a holder of the Golden Invitation, Nanaji.
Speaking of Nanaji, one couldn't fail to mention another person touted as the strongest apprentice, Bates Edward.
At the moment, Bates was also in the hall, standing behind a man with grey hair, head bowed and silent, with his typically aggressive facial expression now subdued.
The man sitting on the couch in the center of the hall, conversing as an equal with Sanders, was a Wizard whom Angel had never seen before.
His age was indiscernible, but his external appearance portrayed that of a middle-aged man.
Dressed in a black wizard robe, his whole being exuded coldness and alienation.
His aura was particularly chilly. Even without having formally met him yet, Angel could already sense a bone-chilling cold.
Aside from his chilling aura, the most striking feature of this man were his heterochromatic eyes. His left eye was the same smoky gray as his hair, looking like that of a blind person, while his right eye was golden, a pure gold like polished metalwork, bright and eye-catching.
Whenever the man blinked, a faint glimmer of gold sparkled.
Although Angel had never met him before, combining the presence of Bates behind him and those unique heterochromatic eyes, Angel had a rough guess of his identity.
If he was the person Master Midora had mentioned.
Then that truly was extraordinary.
Angel proceeded into the hall, and with his arrival, the previously relaxed atmosphere noticeably shifted.
Moreover, the Wizards who had previously been preoccupied, all stood up and gathered at the long table on one side of the hall to take their seats.
As the master of the manor, Sanders took the head seat. The grey-haired man sat on his right, with Wallace next to the grey-haired man.
When Angel took his seat, he was on the left side of Sanders, opposite the grey-haired man.
Upon making eye contact with Angel, the icy countenance of the grey-haired man slightly softened, and he nodded gently in his direction.
Next to Angel was Lianna, carrying a scent of fragrance; as she sat down, she whispered into Angel's ear, “I didn't expect you to advance so quickly, congratulations.”
Angel smiled and nodded, but didn't immediately respond.
All who were seated were Official Wizards; all the Apprentices stood on the outskirts of the hall.
As everyone settled, Butler No. 1 floated in leisurely, surrounded by several plates, each bearing a wine glass filled with a crystal clear liquid and emanating a strong aroma of alcohol.
In a haze, the aroma turned into a vapor, taking the shape of gracefully dancing butterflies in the air.
The wine glasses were set down one by one in front of everyone. Butler No. 1 paused, “Madame Greya mentions, this is Fluttering Butterfly crafted by Felicia. Only one cup is provided; no refills.”
Lianna smiled and was the first to pick up the glass and took a sniff, “True to Madame Butterfly's brewing, this aroma, even if it were used as a base for fragrance production, would be perfect. Oh, and please convey my thanks to Greya.”
Butler No. 1 nodded and then retired.
After everyone took a sip of the wine, the previously somewhat frosty atmosphere in the room gradually warmed due to the flavor of the alcohol.
Sanders briefly clarified the identities of those present; Angel recognized everyone else, so Sanders focused on introducing the grey-haired man across Angel.
“Horus has been traveling the Pan-Dimensional Plane and has only recently returned. Due to his interest in Alchemy, he was arranged by Lord Rhein to Sky Mechanical City, and is currently in charge here.” Although Sanders only gave a brief introduction, the underlying information was significant.
Although Angel had already guessed his identity, his heart still trembled slightly when Sanders mentioned the name Horus.
“Horus of Cold Winter Sovereignty!”
A powerful Wizard from the same era as Lord Rhein! At a time before Sanders' ascendance, he was, apart from Lord Rhein and Ancestral Spirit, the strongest combatant in Barbarian Cave!
His prowess was evident from the Pan-Dimensional Plane he traveled.
Outside the domain, there is a plane named after Horus. This represents the highest honor for discoverers and pioneers of unknown planes, to have a plane named after them.
Horus discovered that dangerous plane and far exceeded other Wizards in its development.
Thus, the plane was named after him.
His power is undeniable.
Angel still remembers the editor-in-chief of “Glowing City Night Talk” magazine, Diescher, and his widely quoted comment about Horus.
— When the golden Eye of Horus looks down upon you, the drama called “you” will draw its curtain. No one can awaken you from the perpetual freeze; you will only eternally sink under the dominion of the Cold Winter.
Diescher's evaluation was by no means unfounded.
This is the “Cold Winter Dominion” revealed by Horus' own strength!
Even among the Second Level True Knowledge Wizards, Horus is definitely at the very top.
Confronting Horus, Angel also behaves with restraint and solemnity. However, Horus, despite his aloof and detached demeanor, showed no particular coldness towards Angel: “My coming to Sky Mechanical City for further studies is also thanks to your help.”
Angel, being a member of the Research and Development Institute, naturally pulled the Barbarian Cave from the Alchemy Desert into the core of the Alchemy World.
Horus himself is very interested in Alchemy, and without Angel, it would not have been so simple for him to come to the Sky Mechanical City for further studies.
“I heard from Vice Principal Sherry that you will be teaching in Ashiliye soon; I am looking forward to your class.”
Horus' words took Angel by surprise. To avoid clashing with the Water Pattern Witch's class, he remembered that the news of his teaching should only have been revealed tomorrow, yet Horus already knew about it.
“Eh, Angel is teaching in Ashiliye?” Lianna looked over in surprise, “Then I must go and see.”
But Horus calmly said, “I've heard that many in the Alchemy Circle are eyeing a spot in Angel's class; you might not be able to secure one.”
Lianna looked towards Angel: “Really? If I can't get in, it seems I need to think about how to pull some strings.”
With Horus and Lianna's conversation, the atmosphere eased somewhat, but the pressure on Angel increased.
Originally, teaching was just a means to… earn some points, but now it seemed as if everyone was coming to inspect his teaching.
Sanders was also surprised about Angel going to teach. If not for Horus bringing it up just now, Sanders would have had no idea about it.
“To earn some points, exchange for some Demonic Materials.” Angel paused: “Vifette needs that material.”
Although Angel did not specify, as soon as he mentioned Vifette, Sanders immediately understood: “He's not using Constant Fragments in exchange anymore?”
Angel nodded: “Yes, he lowered some requirements, but the thing he wants is not available outside; it is, however, in the Research and Development Institute's Demonic Material vault, but points are required to make the exchange.”
Sanders nodded, and he too had been recently in touch with some old friends to see if anyone had any Constant Fragments for sale, but unfortunately, Constant Fragments were too rare and those who obtained them were hoarding them. Since Vifette had lowered the standards, that was naturally best.
The others at the table listened with confusion to the conversation between Angel and Sanders; their topic seemed obscure and seemed to hint at some underlying issues.
“Sanders, what are you talking about? It feels both abstruse and strange?” Lianna and Horus hesitated to ask, but Wallace, an Academy Faction Wizard who always disagreed with Sanders, plainly asked.
“Just some private matters,” Sanders responded coolly with a glance at Wallace: “Besides, I didn't invite you today, did I?”
Wallace was momentarily taken aback, but he didn't get angry; instead, he squinted and smiled: “I came, not for you, but to congratulate Angel on his promotion. Or do you think I should privately congratulate Angel?”
Sanders' expression paused for a moment.
As Horus had just returned to the Southern Domain, he was unchanged by their underlying implications. Stealthily using the Spell of Whispering, Lianna explained to him: “Wallace has been eying Angel for a long time.”
Previously, before Angel became an Official Wizard, Wallace thought of tricking Angel into becoming his disciple.
Now that Angel has been promoted, Wallace's goal is to lure Angel to teach at White Gull Academy.
After hearing Lianna's explanation, Horus realized: “Angel's style indeed seems to lean more towards Wallace.”
Both are from the Academy Faction.
So Wallace going privately to congratulate Angel might really succeed in persuading Angel.
Sanders glanced at Horus and Lianna: “Your Spell of Whispering could be a bit more clumsy.”
Although they used the Spell of Whispering, everyone present was an Official Wizard. Without a special channel, the whispering sounded as loud as clamor to them.
Because of Horus and Lianna's interruption using the Spell of Whispering, Sanders did not continue arguing with Wallace, and Wallace also didn't pursue the previous matter further.
Sanders: “Let's talk about other things later, back to the main topic.”
Horus's arrival was actually for two reasons: first, the connection between Barbarian Cave and Sky Mechanical City; second, about the change of the person in charge at Sky Mechanical City's station.
Both issues were actually related to Angel.
As a member of the Research and Development Institute, Angel naturally became the central link between Barbarian Cave and Sky Mechanical City. In the future, because Alchemy Apprentices from Barbarian Cave would definitely come to Sky Mechanical City for further studies, there were many matters to handle, and Angel also needed to grant some permissions to Horus through his status as a member of the Research and Development Institute.
And with Horus becoming the person in charge of the station, it elevates the importance of Sky Mechanical City's station by many layers, naturally also related to Angel becoming a member of the Research and Development Institute. However, this didn't require Angel to do anything; he just needed to be a spectator, a witness.
