Chapter 3807: Meeting The Seniors

Chapter 3807: Meeting The Seniors

Several of the women also noticed Little Bull observing them as one smiled, another tilted her head curiously and a third openly stared at him. Then someone finally spoke. "So that’s him?"

The voice came from a massive man sitting near the center.

Another disciple stood up. "The recruit who caused the elder council to start fighting?"

Laughter erupted and several people immediately became interested.

One woman placed down her cup. "He’s smaller than I expected."

"He’s mortal." someone else replied.

"Mortal?" another disciple snorted. "Didn’t he beat an immortal beast during the assessment?"

The conversations quickly spread and everyone seemed to know about him already. High Elder Shatter Peak crossed his arms proudly. "Listen up!"

The room immediately quieted as the giant elder pointed directly at Little Bull. "This is Little Bull."

Over a hundred eyes focused on him. The pressure alone would have terrified most recruits but Little Bull simply waved. "Hello."

There was absolute silence for exactly three seconds before someone laughed. And a moment later the entire hall erupted with laughter. For the first time since arriving at Wild Peak, Lin Mu realized something important.

This place might be wild and chaotic, filled with monsters disguised as disciples. But unlike much of the sect he had seen so far, the atmosphere here felt genuine.

Nobody seemed interested in status. Nobody appeared concerned about politics. And obviously nobody cared about appearances. They simply laughed, ate, fought, trained, and lived according to their own nature.

And as he stood there facing over a hundred body cultivators, Lin Mu had a feeling that life on Wild Peak was about to become very interesting indeed.

The atmosphere inside the hall quickly returned to its previous lively state after the initial introduction. The silence that had fallen when High Elder Shatter Peak threw open the doors did not last long at all.

If anything, Little Bull’s simple greeting seemed to make everyone even more relaxed. Within minutes, people were already calling him over, asking questions, introducing themselves, and treating him as if he had been living on Wild Peak for years.

Lin Mu found it rather refreshing.

In other sects, a new disciple with his assessment results would have become the center of countless political games. There would be formal introductions, hidden probing, carefully measured words, and endless attempts to determine where he stood... Here there was none of that.

One large man with arms thicker than tree trunks slapped Little Bull on the back hard enough to make the floor tremble.

"I’m Iron Shoulder!" the man declared proudly. "Junior Elder Iron Shoulder!"

Little Bull nodded. "Hello."

The man grinned. "Good! I like him already!"

Another elder leaned over. "I’m Elder Stone Vein."

A woman with bronze skin raised her hand. "Elder Scarlet Fist."

A bald man sitting on a nearby bench pointed at himself. "Junior Elder Broken Mountain."

Another shouted from across the room. "Elder Thousand Pound!"

Little Bull scratched his head. "Why are all your names strange?"

The hall went quiet for a second, then everyone burst into laughter. High Elder Palm Saber nearly spat out his drink before he wiped tears from his eyes.

"That’s the best question anyone has asked in fifty years."

Several disciples nodded. "He has a point."

"We really do have strange names."

"Maybe we’re the weird ones."

A few minutes later, servants began carrying in food. Though even for servants they seemed extremely well built.

Large platters appeared one after another containing slabs of grilled beast meat, Immortal grain rice, steamed immortal fishes, grilled spirit birds, several large cauldrons filled with soup overflowing with vitality, mountains of vegetables and entire roasted beasts.

The amount of food would have been enough for a feast in most places, yet everyone acted as though it were perfectly normal.

High Elder Shatter Peak glanced around the hall. "Hmph."

Little Bull looked at him. "What?"

The giant crossed his arms. "I worried for nothing."

Little Bull blinked. "Worried about what?"

The giant gestured around the room. "They waited."

Lin Mu looked around and only now did he realize that several tables still had empty plates and untouched food. The people had indeed been waiting.

A disciple sitting nearby nodded. "Of course we waited."

Another agreed. "How could we start without the new recruit?"

A muscular woman laughed. "Especially after all the nonsense that happened in the recruitment hall."

Little Bull tilted his head. "You were waiting for me?"

The woman snorted. "Naturally."

Then another disciple added something interesting. "Besides, it’s been nearly seventy years."

The room suddenly grew a bit quieter. Little Bull looked confused. "Seventy years?"

The disciple nodded. "Since we got a proper disciple."

Several people sighed while another man immediately pointed a finger. "Don’t jinx it."

The first disciple rolled his eyes. "I’m telling the truth."

Then he looked at Little Bull. "The last few ran away."

Little Bull blinked. "They ran away?"

"Yep."

"Why?"

A woman drinking from a giant jug answered. "Because they got punched in the throat."

The room immediately erupted. "Stop saying that!"

"You’ll scare him!"

"Idiot!"

The woman shrugged. "What? That’s what happened."

Little Bull looked increasingly confused and Lin Mu was honestly curious too.

High Elder Shatter Peak laughed loudly. "We’ve technically recruited disciples during those seventy years." He pointed at several empty seats. "None stayed."

Another disciple sighed. "They always leave."

A younger man rubbed his forehead. "They hear about Wild Peak, they get excited, they join, they get punched, they then panic and leave."

Little Bull frowned. "Why do they get punched?"

The hall became awkwardly silent as several disciples looked away. One coughed while another suddenly became interested in his food.

Finally someone muttered. "They deserved it."

Immediately three other people shouted. "They did not!"

"That’s exactly why they left!"

"You can’t solve everything with punches!"

The argument started instantly as High Elder Shatter Peak laughed even harder. Little Bull looked back and forth. He clearly had no idea what was happening. Lin Mu secretly concluded that Wild Peak’s disciple retention rate probably suffered from their unique social customs.
