Chapter 293 - Quelling the Revolt, Begin Retaliation
Chapter 293: Quelling the Revolt, Begin Retaliation
The undead king continued to roar at the sky, yet its body was already blasted to several pieces by the thunderous attack. Purplish black miasmic qi erupted from its body.
The miasmic qi filled the entire sky, almost forming into a dark cloud.
“A miasmic cloud?”
Lu Xuan frowned. If the miasmic cloud were to be condensed enough to form rain, it would be possible for any who touched the miasmic rain to be tainted by the poison.
That was the main method the undead king relied on to bring about chaos back in Lu Xuan’s past life.
By spreading the miasmic cloud all over the place, many in a vast area would be tainted within a short period.
Lu Xuan performed a seal and manifested his Spiritual Qi into flames, which he then blasted at the sky, causing flames to spread all over the sky.
It took only mere moments for the spreading miasmic cloud to be reduced to nothing.
The undead king seized the opportunity at the moment to flee far away like a beam of light.
“You think you can run?” Lu Xuan snorted coldly. His Dragonslayer shot away like a meteor right at the undead king.
The sword tore through space and lodged itself firmly in the body of the undead king.
The undead king shrieked in pain and howled in anguish, struggling to get up again. However, all of its attempts proved futile. It was only able to keep struggling on the ground.
Despite having formidable lifeforce, the undead king remained unable to get to its feet. Its lifeforce continued to leak, and it was rendered completely dead before long. Its body gradually was reduced to dust.
The Dragonslayer returned to Lu Xuan’s hand after that.
“How could this be possible?” That middle-aged Taoist priest was shaking all over. He was almost frightened to death, seeing how Lu Xuan went about killing the undead king.
“It’s over. It’s all over.”
He felt that it was probably all over for them, judging from what transpired that day.
It was simply impossible for them to go against a being as terrifying as Lu Xuan.
Lu Xuan snuffed out their last hope right there and then, almost single-handedly.
That undead king was their final trump card, their last resort on that day, yet Lu Xuan killed it before it was able to do much.
“How could such a monster exist?”
That middle-aged Taoist priest attempted to flee frantically but was quickly severely injured by a blast of the flash of the sword raining from above. He was then arrested by Ming Yueyao and the others who came later.
With Lu Xuan joining the fight, the tables of that battle finally turned into the Special Task Force’s favor.
The Special Task Force had been struggling hard initially, despite being backed by the local military forces. The Celestial Realm beings found on the battlefield were almost deemed unstoppable.
Despite being armed with special ammunition that was powerful enough to pose serious threats to said beings, but aiming itself was almost near impossible.
The open spaces of the battlefield made it entirely possible for those Celestial Realm beings to zip about from end to end.
The only way those Celestial Realm beings could be killed was by boxing them in some tight corners before raining down bullets on them. Doing so incurred a huge cost.
However, that was something deemed near impossible to pull at the moment.
Things began to turn for the better as soon as Lu Xuan joined the fight. He could conjure bow and arrows out of thin air, nailing down Celestial Realm beings with one arrow each and causing huge damage to the invaders.
Lu Xuan did not kill them; he simply nailed them to the ground and crippled them along the way.
Due to Lu Xuan’s vastly effective killing rate, it did not take long for him to take out the Celestial Realm beings on the battlefield, and all of them were crippled.
The Dragon was finally able to get his hands free and went on a rampage, without the many Celestial Realm beings getting in the way.
None of the Invincible Vajra Level, Deity Level, and National Guardian level cultivators, as well as the monsters, were able to take him on. The power difference was so great that he was able to kill each with just a single chop.
Lu Xuan stopped doing anything altogether, leaving for the Special Task Force to clear the remaining mess.
The Dragon, who had been busy cleaning up the mess, rushed to meet Lu Xuan two hours later.
“Thank you for assistance today, Mr. Lu. We would have been in huge trouble otherwise,” the Dragon said as he was still reeling in shock, feeling himself breaking in a cold sweat as soon as that undead king came to mind.
No one present would have been able to keep that monster, which was capable of flight and had surpassed the Celestial Realm, in check if it had not been for Lu Xuan. That was unless they were willing to deploy nuclear arms. That monster would have been able to go on a killing spree and flee easily afterward.
There was simply nothing they could have done about it.
The Celestial Realm beings were terrifying on the battlefield, and Airborne Realm beings were even more so. The latter was so frightening that they were deemed walking killing machines.
Killing machines that could steer the outcome of a battle.
It was unfortunate that the government forces could not deploy heavy weapons due to the fight taking place in the capital city.
That was that one factor that gave the invaders an edge.
“Given how severe things are today, didn’t you people receive intel of any kind?” Lu Xuan asked, feeling rather puzzled.
The Heavenly Palace was newly established, and it had practically no intelligence network to speak of, so it was very normal for them to not receive any prior warning. On the other hand, the Special Task Force had been around for decades, and their network seeped all the way into the deepest reaches of the world of cultivation. It was unusually strange that such a huge operation fell under their radar altogether.
The Dragon wore a bitter smirk and replied, “We truly got no warning whatsoever this time. Those who leaned towards the government never said anything at all. We wouldn’t have been ambushed so badly otherwise. We would have been able to chase them off before the fighting in the capital city began if we had just been warned.”
Lu Xuan narrowed his gaze and touched his chin for a bit, saying, “Seems like we’ve gotten on the bad side of many people by wanting to promote widespread cultivation among the people then. The entire world of cultivation is helping that bunch of people out one way or another. There are even cultivators from the US and Europe getting involved in this.”
The Dragon nodded. He had anticipated the cultivators revolting, but he had never expected the revolt to be carried out at such a scale. It made him feel as if he had made an enemy out of the entire world itself.
One could imagine just how difficult it would be to carry out such an undertaking.
“But then again, all of this shows that they are really, really scared now.”
Lu Xuan chuckled and continued, “It seems like we’ve hit them where it hurts most.”
The Dragon nodded while still reeling in shock. There was no doubt that he knew why the reaction for the cultivators was so huge. But then again, despite knowing why they did what they did, he was still absolutely not going to let those people do as they pleased.
That was why the Special Task Force was established in the first place.
“We’d still require your help for what is to come, Mr. Lu. Given how many forces are getting involved in this, I’m afraid we’d be stretched too thin to take them out entirely on ourselves,” the Dragon said as he gritted his teeth. While the way he said it made him sound rather irresponsible, he had learned a painful lesson from what transpired. He vowed to make the cultivators suffer and let them learn just how powerful the government forces were.
“No problem. The 12 military governors under my command would always be on standby to take those people in,” Lu Xuan grinned and said.
The Dragon nodded in relief. That was the other reason why he came to see Lu Xuan. While the Special Task Force had been established for a long time, but when it came to cutting edge fighting forces, the entire Special Task Force would probably pale in comparison to the Heavenly Palace, which had only been guided and trained by Lu Xuan for a mere month.
“Our first target will be the Maoshan Taoist sect. We’ll head up there and start arresting people.” The Dragon narrowed his gaze, which had a cold glint to it. The aura about him continued to boil.
It was time for the Huaxian government to retaliate.
