Chapter 292 - Crippling the Undead King
Chapter 292: Crippling the Undead King
Lu Xuan left the helicopter right away, standing high above in the air while overlooking the entire battlefield.
His brimming Spiritual Qi coalesced on his hand at the same time, materializing into a longbow.
He went on to conjure an arrow to go with the bow and fired the projectile without looking.
There were occasions where he fired up to nine arrows simultaneously, with every single arrow piercing through a powerful monster or a formidable enemy fighter.
All who were shot were nailed to the ground firmly. The battlefield was cleared before long.
The enemy fighters were taken out by the arrows one by one. Lu Xuan went on to punch a hole through anyone he laid his eyes on. They were able to do nothing to resist.
All the surviving enemy fighters were thrown into a panic before long.
A middle-aged Taoist priest locked his gaze on Lu Xuan up in the sky while basking in the moonlight at the moment.
He chanted words, and a coffin launched right away from behind him, from which a jiangshi dressed in Qing Dynasty official garb emerged.
Roar!
The jiangshi let its black hair billow in the wind while being lit up by the moonlight as soon as it emerged from the coffin. It made it look like some pitch-black monster.
The jiangshi emanated a ferocious aura throughout its entire being.
The aura was so intense that not even the monsters enthralled by the kings of monsters dared to get near it.
That middle-aged Taoist priest smirked and then chuckled.
“You’ve killed my uncle, Lu Xuan. Now, I will make sure that you won’t leave this place alive.”
That jiangshi was the trump card up the Maoshan Taoist sect’s sleeve. The being had once been a king among the undead, and it was sealed in the depths of the sect by the grandmaster of the sect ages ago.
However, that king of the undead, without absorbing blood or ambient Spirit Qi since the world became devoid of spirit qi centuries ago, had regressed considerably.
But then again, it still nonetheless had powers eclipsing that of Celestial Realm beings.
The Taoist priest felt himself shaking all over just by manipulating that king of undead alone. Bursts of eerie, fiendish power surged into his mind, intending to deal severe mental trauma to him.
He knew that he would not be able to keep the king of the undead with just his level of his powers for long. That undead seemed to be ready to break his thrall if he were to control it for prolonged periods.
Things would have taken a dire turn if that were to happen. That king of undead had yet to be completely restored, yet it boasted powers comparable to that of one at Airborne Realm just by absorbing a bit of Spirit Qi. If it were to be allowed to absorb blood, it would have been the first non-human at present to make a breakthrough into the Airborne Realm and even cause a massive undead outbreak.
However, the Taoist priest deemed himself to be left with no other choices. That was his last stand, and backing down was not an option.
That king of dead growled at the sky and launched itself like an arrow from a bow, heading straight for Lu Xuan in the air right away.
Lu Xuan sensed the incoming threat immediately.
That king of undead arrived before Lu Xuan right there and then, bringing about a force comparable to that of a shell.
Boom!
The two of them clashed. Lu Xuan blocked the undead king’s attack with one hand, and he felt almost immediately that his arm was feeling somewhat numbed.
The undead king’s physical body was unbelievably tough.
That undead king did not get what it wanted at the first try, yet it did not yield just yet, continuing to charge at Lu Xuan right away again.
“This is interesting.”
Common humans, even when fighting at the same level, would have found it difficult to take on a jiangshi.
Worse still, that jiangshi, from what Lu Xuan was able to tell, was a being that most probably regressed from an even higher level; its physical body’s toughness surpassed that of common Airborne Realm beings.
The likes of common Airborne Realm beings would have probably torn apart right away when taking on that undead king, as it clearly was of powers beyond that of common Airborne Realm beings.
Too bad for it, however, as it ran into Lu Xuan instead.
“Well, we’ll see who’s the tougher one here then!” Lu Xuan shouted and clenched his fist, blasting a Golden Dragon’s Claw right at the undead king.
Boom!
The two terrifying beings, whose physical resilience had far eclipsed that of common Airborne Realm ones, clashed again in midair. Even though it was just a physical clash, yet the sound of it suggested that it was two shells going head to head with each other instead. Both of them quickly made themselves known as the two most terrifying beings on the entire battlefield.
Boom!
Boom!
Boom!
Under the moonlit sky, however, the bloody aura permeating the entire battlefield gushed into the jiangshi’s body, enabling it to not only recover from its injuries but also cranking up its powers as well.
The undead king was becoming increasingly powerful as it fought.
That being was confirmed to be well above that of common Airborne Realm beings, to begin with, and it was only recovering its powers at the moment. As such, it was only natural for it to have a far easier time than to make a breakthrough through sheer brute force.
“Never expected to run into a monster like you before indeed,” Lu Xuan commented plainly as he frowned.
He recalled what he knew back in his past life, where there seemed to have been an undead king tearing up the place before, so much so that it had even created a kingdom of jiangshi in the northwestern region.
That undead king was so powerful that not even the Huaxian government could do anything about it.
Lu Xuan took a closer look at the undead king, finding it looking very, very similar to that undead king rumored in his past life.
That undead king was eventually vanquished, but Lu Xuan was still a newbie who just began training as a cultivator back then. As such, he simply heard of that battle with the undead king and was not all that clear about what transpired.
He thought about it for a bit and found it extremely possible for that jiangshi he was fighting to be the one that would become the undead king he heard of.
It was said that over a million people died as that undead king rampaged. One whole city was razed and be remade into a kingdom of jiangshi.
The undead poison was all over the place, and that had shaken the entire world of cultivation.
“Seems like I’d be doing a good thing by killing this bastard here and now then,” Lu Xuan said with a smirk.
The act of killing that undead king right would have been tantamount to saving the lives of over a million people in the future.
Lu Xuan took a look at the jiangshi’s eyes again, which were initially murky. Its eyes actually gradually cleared out, making it apparent that it was shaking free of the control of that Maoshan Taoist priest.
Once it recovered its own will, it would have been a lot difficult to deal with than when the Taoist priest was controlling it.
“Guess I’ll have to get rid of you right here, right now.”
Lu Xuan brandished the Dragonslayer, using it as a conduit of sorts as he chanted an ancient mantra, “Godly Thunder of the Nine Heavens!”
An explosive rumble was heard in midair as Lu Xuan shouted out. The blast of thunder hit that undead king squarely at blinding speeds.
Roar!
That undead king was unable to evade the attack at all and took the full brunt of it. Half of its body was torn apart by the blast right away.
Due to Lu Xuan’s precise control of thunderous attacks, the same attack was made several times more powerful than its original version.
That one attack was all it took to practically cripple that undead king.
