Also, many thanks to everyone who bought me coffee (*≧∀≦*)
Xiao Ji did not expect her to answer and simply continued speaking, “After drinking nuptial wine, the couple shares the same bed when alive and the same burial robes when dead.”
He somehow made it quite poetic.
Princess Xinyang muttered, “Why have I never heard of that?”
He placed the empty cup back on the table and said with righteous confidence, “From now on you will have, because the official histories will record that this Marquis was the one who said it.”
Princess Xinyang: “…”
Princess Xinyang placed her wine cup next to his, and even the cups looked like a matching pair, perfectly in tune with the moment.
“And then?” she asked, gathering her courage.
Xiao Ji gave her a glance. “Then what?”
“After… after drinking the nuptial wine… what is supposed to happen?”
“Naturally, a couple should consummate the marriage…” Xiao Ji said, then he looked at her with a completely serious expression. “Qin Fengwen, mind your behavior. Look at where we are. Drinking nuptial wine with you is already indulgent enough, and you still expect to consummate the marriage with this Marquis?”
Princess Xinyang glanced at his injuries. “Oh.”
Xiao Ji frowned and said, “It is not that this Marquis is incapable, but consummating a marriage in a military camp is against regulations. Besides, do you think those people outside are deaf?”
Martial artists had exceptional hearing, and when Princess Xinyang thought of how the noises from such an act might be overheard at any moment, her courage to consummate the marriage instantly vanished.
After washing up, the two of them lay down on the soft bed.
“Your injury…” she began.
“It’s fine.” he said. “But consummating the marriage is impossible.”
Princess Xinyang lowered her eyes. “Oh.”
Xiao Ji gave her a faint smile. “Qin Fengwen, are you very disappointed?”
“No.” Princess Xinyang replied.
She lay flat beside him and pulled the blanket a little higher.
Xiao Ji said, “Good, as long as you are not. Do not try to take advantage of me in the middle of the night.”
“I feel a little cold.” Princess Xinyang said.
Xiao Ji replied, “If you want this Marquis to hold you, just say it directly.”
Princess Xinyang’s face flushed slightly. “Hold me.”
Xiao Ji: “…”
He stared in disbelief at Princess Xinyang, whose small face was now completely red, and thought to himself that perhaps the wine he bought was the wrong one. He had told the shopkeeper that he wanted the weakest wine.
Did the shopkeeper give him the strongest instead?
Princess Xinyang felt as though a fire was burning in her chest.
Alcohol bolstered the courage of the timid. Her tolerance was poor, only slightly stronger than Gu Jiao’s, and not by much.
After a single cup, all the memories of the past flashed through her mind like swirling smoke.
The more she thought of their wedding night back then, the more she felt that she owed him, and the more she regretted the beautiful years they had lost.
How many twenty-year spans did a person get in a lifetime?
Wasting even a single night meant losing a single night.
It was as if her meridians had been completely cleared in an instant, and all her previous perceptions had been overturned.
Xiao Ji was not refusing consummation as some sort of tactic; he truly had no intention of taking her here.
First, there were his injuries. Second, she was a princess born of noble blood, and her sincere and genuine first time was something he did not wish to treat carelessly.
Yet someone was currently drunk and was constantly rubbing against him.
He looked down at the restless woman in his arms and took a deep breath. “Qin Fengwen, what are you trying to do now?”
Princess Xinyang slipped her hand into his clothes. “I am not doing anything, just touching.”
Xiao Ji: “…”
“Qin Fengwen, you are drunk.” he said helplessly.
He gently took Qin Fengwen’s hand out.
Princess Xinyang, without meaning to, began acting spoiled. “I cannot sleep. I feel a little hot.”
Xiao Ji’s blood surged, and he pulled her onto his body, held her head firmly, and kissed her in a forceful and domineering manner.
The fragrance of wine intertwined between their lips and teeth, and as he savored her sweetness, his hand unconsciously slid to her sensitive waist.
Yet he did not go too far.
He restrained himself.
After kissing for an unknown amount of time, her body suddenly tensed, and her mind went completely blank.
Xiao Ji paused.
Princess Xinyang, her face burning red, released his lips and buried her head in his chest without moving at all.
Xiao Ji was utterly shocked. “Qin Fengwen, this Marquis only kissed you, and you… you actually…”
Princess Xinyang wanted to disappear from existence.
Yes, it was only a kiss, so how did she…
Xiao Ji held her and murmured blankly, “You did not even take any medicine tonight, so how are you even more sensitive than when you do?”
Princess Xinyang had no face left to show anyone.
That moment had sobered her completely; her mind was clearer than it had ever been in her life.
And precisely because she was so clear-headed, she wanted to crawl into a hole and die.
How embarrassing…
Xiao Ji calmed down and said seriously, “If you truly want it, this Marquis can also…”
“Shut up!” Princess Xinyang refused to let him mention this matter ever again. She scrambled off his body, yanked the blanket over her head, and made up her mind to stay hidden underneath it for the rest of her life.
However, Xiao Ji lifted the blanket and got up to leave.
Princess Xinyang did not know why he suddenly walked out, but judging from how unusually restrained he had been all night, she guessed he probably wanted to give her some time to calm down by herself.
Outside the tent, the sounds of soldiers gathering echoed through the night, accompanied by the clatter of hooves and the scraping of armor.
Princess Xinyang was utterly confused.
All she did was… that.
Was this enough to make him hold military drills in the middle of the night just to help her calm down?
After a quarter of an hour, the sounds of assembly gradually quieted down, and her mind buzzed so loudly that she could not even tell what was happening anymore.
In the very next second, the curtain of the tent was thrown open, and a figure walked in quickly under the starry night.
He first secured the curtain shut, and then he strode straight toward the bed.
He began to take off his outer garments.
Princess Xinyang heard the rustling sounds behind her, turned around in astonishment, and looked at him with confusion. “What… are you doing?”
“Consummating.” he said.
Princess Xinyang stared at him in disbelief. “But didn’t you say… it was against the rules?”
He untied his belt and said, “This Marquis is the rules.”
“Then… what about them?”
“They went out.”
So you woke the entire camp in the middle of the night not to drill them, but to chase them all away?!
How exactly was that any better than letting them overhear anything?!
By tomorrow, the whole border would know that the State of Zhao’s first-rank Martial Marquis drove all his soldiers out of camp in the middle of the night just so he could consummate his marriage!
Princess Xinyang: I might as well die.
……
That night, he was exceptionally gentle.
As if handling a treasure he had cherished for a lifetime, he gave her every bit of the beauty that belonged to a wedding night.

Description:
In the suspenseful supernatural novel “Records of Mortals,” Jiang Baiyan, once a solitary and impoverished youth, finds refuge in the Shi family of Chang’an due to his extraordinary bloodline. With his clear and captivating peach blossom eyes, this seemingly innocent young man conceals a fanatical and malevolent lunatic within. Destined to succumb to darkness amidst hardship and degradation, he becomes a harbinger of chaos.
When Shi Dai suddenly transmigrates, she takes on the role of the Shi family’s young lady, the one who subjects him to countless trials, eventually leading to her demise.
The twist? She never got to finish reading the novel.
From what she knew of the plot, Jiang Baiyan was just a silent, timid, and often bullied pitiable character.
***
Jiang Baiyan had never encountered someone like Shi Dai.
After he had slaughtered all the evil creatures in the garden, the blood-stained young man, exuding a murderous aura, approached her step by step, his lips curling into a malicious smile, "Scared?"
Shi Dai responded, “You’re really amazing! I applaud you until I spin like a spiral and fly around the moon three hundred times! And also——you have dimples when you smile!"
Jiang Baiyan: ...?
—
After seeing her at a lantern festival with another man, Jiang Baiyan lowered his eyes, his fingers twirling her hair. He said in a mocking and sinister tone, "The mansion in the western suburbs...if I hide you there, no one will find you, right?"
Shi Dai replied, "Does it come with meals and lodging? Can I sleep in everyday? Oh, and your cooking is the best!"
Jiang Baiyan: ...?
—
Jiang Baiyan was supposed to dislike her, even hate her, but as their separation drew near, his eyes turned red and he grabbed her sleeve, pleading, "Don't abandon me, alri—”
Shi Dai responded, "Alright, alright, I’ll only have you. Mwah."
Jiang Baiyan: ...?
He hasn't finished his lines yet though…
