Vera Xavier was not a tidy sleeper. Her beautiful hair was splayed across the pillow and her limbs were spread wide, a complete contrast to the prim and proper girl she usually was around him.
But Nathaniel Nathan had always known she wasn’t truly prim and proper. Her well-behaved act was just for show; she was incredibly bold and not the least bit docile.
Looking at her like this, he inexplicably felt a sense of bliss. Or rather, he was happy just being with her. It was a shame that, as a soldier, he couldn’t always be by her side.
The call just now had been from his commander, Seth Maverick, ordering him back to the base immediately. Thinking about it, he hadn’t been back to the base for quite some time. It was indeed time to return.
Fortunately, now that she was in Veridia, seeing her in the future wouldn’t be difficult.
Watching her sleep, he inexplicably felt tired too. He quickly washed up and lay down to rest beside her.

So, she didn’t pay it any mind. After getting up and having another big stretch, she felt refreshed and clear-headed. She decided to have breakfast first, then explore the neighborhood to get her bearings. School started tomorrow, so she needed to prepare.
When Vera Xavier opened the closet to change, her mouth twitched at the sight of a wardrobe full of luxury clothes. ’I’m still a student! These clothes are way too expensive.’
However, she hadn’t packed many clothes before coming to Veridia this time.
For one, the temperature in Veridia was much lower, so most of her old clothes were unsuitable.
For another, the journey was too long, and carrying too much would have been a burden.
That was why she had originally planned to buy some new clothes after arriving in Veridia. But now, seeing all these, it felt like a real waste not to wear them.
So, she picked out an outfit from the collection that suited her age and status as a student, changed, and went downstairs.
When she got downstairs, she found breakfast waiting on the dining table. It was, needless to say, left by Nathaniel Nathan.
A warm feeling spread through her heart. Although the breakfast had grown a bit cold, she didn’t mind at all. She warmed it up slightly and started to eat.
After finishing breakfast, she went to the entryway to change her shoes and head out, only to find a set of keys and a map of Veridia left there.
Vera Xavier chuckled at the sight. ’Even though he’s gone back to the base on a mission, he’s thought of everything. He really is meticulous.’
She sincerely felt that when he wasn’t being a scoundrel, he was actually quite wonderful.
She put the map and keys into her bag, opened the door, and walked out.
In truth, she had lived in Veridia for many years in her past life, so she was already quite familiar with the city.
But the Veridia of today was still quite different from the Veridia of twenty years in the future. Here, the buildings hadn’t yet scraped the clouds, housing prices hadn’t entered the era of sky-high costs, the sky was very blue, and the air was clean.
