Chapter 435: His Integrity
Chapter 435: Chapter 435: His Integrity
Nathaniel Nathan reached out and lightly pinched Vera Xavier’s other cheek. "You don’t need to remember that, because it’s never going to happen. Will you make a mistake?"
Vera Xavier: "..."
’Damn it. It’s like this bastard talked me in circles again.’
The corners of Nathaniel Nathan’s eyes crinkled with amusement. "Since you’re not going to make any mistakes, that second rule is a bit redundant."
Vera Xavier felt that getting one up on this bastard was damn near impossible!
Nathaniel Nathan asked, "Is there a third one?"
Vera Xavier took a deep breath. "Of course there is! How about this: when I get back, I’ll write them all out and stick them on your wall so you have to look at them every day."
"In that case, you’ll have to write three copies," Nathaniel Nathan said, looking at her. "I’ll need one to post by my bed at home, one for by my bed in the dorm, and one more to keep in my wallet for when I’m on missions."
Vera Xavier: "..."
The mention of a wallet reminded Nathaniel Nathan of something. "The picture you gave me last time was just an ID photo. That’s too half-hearted. Let’s take a proper photo together when we get back."
He’d wanted to do this last time, but between her college entrance exams and her family troubles, he’d also been in a rush to return to his unit, so they never got the chance.
Vera Xavier felt this was her chance to even the score. "Young Master Nathan, I’m a woman with high standards. I don’t just take photos with anyone. If you want to take a picture with me, it’ll depend on my mood."
"Oh?" Nathaniel Nathan asked her. "And in what kind of mood would you agree to take a picture with me?"
"When I’m in a good mood, of course," Vera Xavier replied.
Nathaniel Nathan pressed on, "And when are you in a good mood?"
"I’m in a good mood when I’m happy, of course," Vera Xavier said earnestly.
Nathaniel Nathan nodded. "Flawless logic. Perfectly clear. Not a single thing wrong with that statement. So, from now on, I’ll just have to find a way to make you happy every day."
Hearing this, Vera Xavier felt a little smug. ’He isn’t so hard to handle after all!’
But her smugness was short-lived. She heard Nathaniel Nathan say, "I’ve heard that the thing that makes people happiest in this world is the act of love between a man and a woman. Don’t you worry, darling, I’m more than willing to do that with you every day."
Vera Xavier: "..."
’Wait, this isn’t how this was supposed to go! After all that, he’s made it sound like I’m the one begging him to sleep with me!’
Her face flushed slightly as she muttered, "Pervert!"
’In some ways, he was even more of a pervert than Jack Judd. The only difference was that Nathaniel was a well-educated one! A pervert like that was fundamentally more terrifying, because you never knew when he’d turn on the sleaze.’
Nathaniel Nathan’s expression turned serious. He reached out and tapped her on the nose. "Actually, I can be even more of a pervert. Want to see?"
Vera Xavier immediately jumped away from him. He was too dangerous! ’She was a woman of principles; she wasn’t about to play along with his perverted games!’
Nathaniel Nathan couldn’t keep a straight face any longer and chuckled softly.
Jack Judd and Aaron Cheney watched their interaction from a distance. Although they couldn’t hear what was being said, they could make a pretty good guess based on Vera Xavier’s reaction.
Aaron Cheney nudged Jack Judd with his elbow. "Look, the Captain is getting fresh with our sister-in-law again."
Jack Judd was far more afraid of Nathaniel Nathan than Aaron Cheney was; he wouldn’t dare utter a single bad word about him, even behind his back. "Even when Young Master Nathan is being a pervert, he’s the most handsome pervert in the world! The classiest pervert! The most charming pervert!"
Aaron Cheney rolled his eyes at him. "Have some backbone, would you?"
