Chapter 3702: That’s No Problem Then
Chapter 3702: That’s No Problem Then
The person next to the pale young man glared at him, clearly upset. "What are you shouting for? Can’t you see we’re trying to help the Young Lord?"
“Exactly! Shut up!”
“He hasn’t said a word until now, and no one’s bothered paying any attention to him.”
“Look at how ugly he is too. He can’t compare to the Young Lord at all.”
The pale young man frowned. His eyes swept the crowd before locking onto Lu Yin. “You are not from the Nine Odysseys Megaverse, and you are definitely not from the Scion Spire. Just where are you from?”
Lu Yin arched a brow. “I already told you, I’m from the Scion Spire.”
“Ridiculous.” The young man raised a hand and spread out his long fingers, pointing his hand at Lu Yin. “Five Fingers: Skyward Gate.”
Boom.
A gate that had been invisible suddenly appeared and slammed shut. The impact left the people atop the cliff dizzy. One after another, everyone turned to stare at the pale young man in shock. “Five Fingers: Skyward Gate? Doesn’t that technique belong to the Skyward Gate’s Luo family? Are you a member of the Luo clan?”
Even the woman leading the group was surprised. She had not expected anyone from the Luo clan to be a member of her team.
While the Luo Clan was not the family of a Lesser Sancte, they still enjoyed a prestigious position in the Nine Odysseys Megaverse. That was because the Luo clan guarded the Skyward Gate.
The Five Fingers: Skyward Gate was the Luo Clan’s unique battle technique, used only by those who were born to protect the gate. Anyone who wished to pass through that gate needed to first obtain the Luo clan’s permission.
“Are you the next heir of the Luo clan?” the woman asked.
The pale young man responded with a slightly sinister smile, his eyes still cold. “I am Luo Ning.”
The people around him appeared confused. That was not the name of the current heir of the Luo clan.
“Luo- Luo Ning?” someone shouted from the opposite side of the cliff.
Then, someone from the same side of the cliff as the pale young man also remembered. “Luo Ning? The Luo clan’s most famous genius? The one who mastered Awe Gate from just a glance and was then praised by Greater Sancte Awe Gate as a potential disciple? That Luo Ning?”
“Rumors claim that Luo Ning was frozen in the Scion Spire, waiting for a Sancte’s position to open up. Don’t tell me... is he really Luo Ning?”
“I actually got to see Luo Ning?”
“The genius who made history...”
Everyone nearby stared at Luo Ning in absolute shock. Their reaction was far more extreme than when the High Seraph’s identity had been revealed.
The woman leading the group stared at the pale young man. “Are you really Luo Ning?”
Luo Ning continued to stare at Lu Yin. “I’ve been sleeping in the southeast corner of the Scion Spire’s Octagonal Pavilion.” He then glanced past Lu Yin. “So what is his real story?”
Lu Yin was completely speechless. This was someone who was actually from the Scion Spire.
Yong Heng had claimed to have been frozen in the southeastern corner of the Octagonal Pavilion, and yet this person had actually occupied that exact location. Talk about a coincidence.
Yong Heng stared at Luo Ning with the same unchanging expression as ever. His smile never even twitched. It was as if he could not be disturbed by anything.
“Given how long you’ve been in cryostasis, maybe he was frozen after you and woke up earlier,” Lu Yin explained.
Everyone turned back to Luo Ning.
“There are only eight pods in the Octagonal Pavilion, and only eight people can be kept there,” the male leader remarked.
“Oh, then I’m all set,” Lu Yin commented before returning to the bottom of the cliff.
Yong Heng smiled at the people near him. “Truthfully, becoming our disciples isn’t necessarily any worse than being frozen in the Octagonal Pavilion. Consider the offer.”
With that, he also retreated.
Atop the cliff, some people continued to stare at Luo Ning with unrestrained excitement, while others were more hesitant, and they kept glancing down the cliff.
All that had been said made sense. While those atop the cliff enjoyed powerful backgrounds and possessed excellent talent, they could not compare to Luo Ning, who was destined to compete for the title of Lesser Sancte. All they could do was watch.
On the other hand, if they could become the disciples of either two cultivators who were as powerful as a Lesser Sancte, their future might change.
Who had said that only someone from the Scion Spire could take the title of Lesser Sancte?
No one who qualified to stand atop the cliff was a fool. They might be arrogant and look down on the three megaverses, but they clearly understood the significance of Lu Yin’s and Yong Heng’s strength. Those two could open up a wider path for these young people.
Still, neither of the two of them could climb the cliff, and the people at the top lacked the means to bring them up.
Lu Yin and Yong Heng descended to the bottom of the cliff, prompting a sigh of relief from Old Chief. He was happy to see that neither man had managed to climb the cliff. Just the fact that the High Seraph might be able to reach the top had already unsettled the conscients, and seeing people atop the cliff had only added to that frustration. The Luminaries had been left to question all that they knew about the megaverses.
“What’s the deal with the Scion Spire?” Lu Yin asked as he looked over at Yong Heng.
The man just chuckled. “You think I’ll tell you?”
Lu Yin shrugged. “Fine, keep it to yourself then.”
Yong Heng truly had no intention of saying anything more. If he were dealing with anyone else, he might not have minded sharing a bit, but Lu Yin was different.
True God fully understood just how adept Lu Yin was at exploiting every opportunity and redirecting trouble away from himself. The more information Lu Yin obtained, the greater the chances of him doing something unexpected.
Such things had happened far too often in the Tianyuan Megaverse, and Lu Yin had often relied on small fragments of information to escape near certain death.
“Both of you, who are those people atop the cliff?” Old Chief asked. Several of the Luminaries gathered around him, all of them warily eying both Lu Yin and Yong Heng.
The two men turned to look at the conscients. “Oh, I almost forgot that you’re also here.”
Old Chief stared at the men. “Both of you are the High Seraph’s enemies. You could join forces with us here and kill him.”
Lu Yin shrugged. “It’s not that easy.”
“You are from the Tianyuan Megaverse, which naturally makes you an ally of our Consciousness Megaverse. The Spirit Nidus doesn’t want to merely reset our Consciousness Megaverse, but also yours,” Old Chief explained.
Lu Yin nodded. “I’m aware of that. This is your territory. Do you have any way of finding the High Seraph?”
Old Chief looked troubled. “We are in the Willbound Expanse. We have no idea how the High Seraph learned about this place, or why he seems so knowledgeable about it.”
The ancient conscient suddenly recalled something, and he glanced at the people atop the cliff.
Lu Yin spoke up, saying, “Your guess is right. All of them are on the same side as the High Seraph.”
Old Chief asked in confusion, “Just who are they?”
Lu Yin glanced at Yong Heng before slowly replying, “They are the ones who have the true authority to decide whether or not your Consciousness Megaverse is reset.”
Old Chief’s eyes narrowed.
Beside him, several of the Luminaries looked back up the steep cliff. This time, their expressions were completely different.
Given the mocking and condescending manner in which those atop the cliff had looked down at everyone below, the conscients had already been uncomfortable. Those attitudes left no doubt about the veracity of Lu Yin’s words.
“Alright, forget about them. I don’t need to explain anything to you. If you want to save your megaverse, then you first need to deal with the High Seraph.” Lu Yin sounded rather impatient.
Shuangdao spoke up, “What happened to Xing Jue?”
“They’re dead,” Lu Yin bluntly replied.
“You killed them? They were one of the Thirteen Luminaries! Given that you are from the Tianyuan Megaverse, you should clearly be working with us.” Shuangdao snapped, clenching the hilt of his weapon tightly.
Lu Yin scoffed. “You’re not really considering attacking me, are you? Go ahead and try.”
Old Chief waved a hand, indicating for Shuangdao to stand down. The old man peered at Lu Yin. “Why did you attack Xing Jue?”
Lu Yin met Old Chief’s stare. “Why did you attack Boundless?”
Boundless? This was not an unknown name to Old Chief and the others. They had seen the name on the battleship that they had trapped within their Endless Path.
“We didn’t want someone as powerful as you showing up while we were fighting against the High Seraph, especially since we didn’t know that you were a Tianyuan cultivator at the time. We had no idea if you were friend or foe,” Old Chief explained.
Lu Yin countered, “That was my same thought process with Xing Jue, which is why I attacked without restraint. I was not at all out of line in killing them.”
Old Chief wanted to argue, but he could only sigh. “Forget it. Dealing with the High Seraph needs to come first.”
Lu Yin felt quite amused as he looked at Old Chief and the others. Did they really care about Xing Jue’s death? Of course not. Conscients only cared about their own survival.
The Luminaries’ attitude was nothing more than an act to lead Lu Yin to believe that they possessed the same emotions as humans. They hoped to reassure Lu Yin as he cooperated with them.
However, both Lu Yin and Yong Heng were able to see right through the conscients’ intentions.
Old Chief looked over at Yong Heng. “Who is he?”
“He’s also from my megaverse,” Lu Yin repiled.
Old Chief was taken aback, as were the rest of the Luminaries. To their knowledge, the Tianyuan Megaverse had long since fallen to the plots of the Spirit Nidus. Forget producing two experts as powerful as the High Seraph—they would not have been surprised if the Tianyuan Megaverse could not even raise one. Logically speaking, their megaverse should not be capable of surpassing the Consciousness Megaverse.
However, the Luminaries were seeing that, not only did the Tianyuan Megaverse surpass their own, but it might also surpass the Spirit Nidus.
The Spirit Nidus only had the High Seraph alone, while the Tianyuan Megaverse had both of these men who were the High Seraph’s equal.
Suddenly, the conscients were reminded of some information that they had once learned through the Spirit Nidus: the Tianyuan Megaverse possessed more potential than both the Spirit Nidus and the Consciousness Megaverse, and it was not by just a small bit
Seeing the changing expressions on Old Chief and the others’ faces, Lu Yin continued to say, “While we’re both from the same megaverse, he’s my enemy. One of us is going to die.”
The conscients were all confused by this, but then they remembered how Yong Heng and Lu Yin had been fighting each other before suddenly working together to attack the High Seraph.
Was this some odd quirk of their megaverse? Was it possible that it was hard to differentiate between enemies and allies?
Old Chief cleared his throat. “Regardless of your relationship, we currently all have a common enemy in the High Seraph. We should discuss how to deal with him.”
Old Chief did not want to hear anything more from Lu Yin, as it seemed that the situation in his megaverse was too messy.
Regardless of the identities of the people atop the cliff, it was clear that neither human had any intention of explaining. Their highest priority was dealing with the High Seraph.
As for the two humans, the conscients naturally wanted to eliminate them as well.
Everyone coveted the Willbound Spire, which made them all enemies.
It did not take long for an agreement to be reached. Old Chief and the other Luminaries would remain beneath the cliff, awaiting the High Seraph’s return. As for Lu Yin and Yong Heng, they would take turns. If the High Seraph returned and attacked at full strength, Old Chief and his group might not be able to endure.
The addition of one of the humans should be enough to hold off the High Seraph until the other arrived.
The second man would be allowed to leave the Willbound Spire and roam about the Willbound Expanse.
If both men remained beneath the cliff, the situation would actually devolve. Not only were they both enemies, but having both of them present would also make the High Seraph wary.
Lu Yin took the first turn. He did not care where Yong Heng went, as the man would eventually return and take Lu Yin’s place, giving the younger man a chance to leave.
At the top of the cliff, people were still staring at Luo Ning. Even the man and woman who led the two groups were looking at Luo Ning differently. This was someone who had the potential to become a Lesser Sancte.
In contrast, Luo Ning was gazing at the bottom of the cliff. One terrifying expert after another had appeared, all of whom were from the three megaverses. There was no way that this was a good thing.
For too long, the Nine Odysseys Megaverse had refrained from dealing with the three megaverses, and it was time that they dealt with a few troublemakers. Those two men were so young. Who could say how they might develop? If one of them were to become an Immortal, then true trouble would arise.
As soon as Luo Ning returned home, he would report this matter to the Greater Sancti.
In a parallel universe of the Consciousness Megaverse, a battleship was on its way to the Willbound Expanse. The countless cultivators aboard were either resting, sparring, or chatting with each other. The scene was quite lively.
Each of the seven battleships participating in the expedition in the Consciousness Megaverse was protected by a Dukkhan. This meant that the overall atmosphere aboard each ship was determined by the temperament of its guardian.
