Chapter 2679: Tried to Attack Her

Chapter 2679: Tried to Attack Her

Chen Bo was notorious as one of the employees who had a disgusting habit of bullying others. He frequently pushed his own heavy workload onto his junior colleagues while he slacked off. Not only that, but he had also harassed several female employees during his tenure. As Yu Qi had stated earlier, only those who had actively embezzled company funds would face immediate lawsuits. Chen Bo was not among the embezzlers, yet he was still acting like a victim.

"You think you can just destroy our lives and our futures and walk away as if nothing happened? My family has nothing now because of your greed! This termination will stay on my permanent record. No one in this city will ever hire me again after what you have done!" Chen Bo spoke through gritted teeth, his voice shaking with a dangerous fury.

Yu Qi chuckled softly, the sound light and airy. Seeing that Yu Qi could still laugh at a moment of genuine threat only made Chen Bo feel even more frustrated and enraged.

"After what I have done? I did absolutely nothing to you. You destroyed your own life the very moment you decided to treat my company’s payroll as your own personal charity fund. My company paid you a generous salary to do your job, not to slack off and torment others. Not to mention the fact that you cheated and lied your way into obtaining that position in the first place. If anything, you should be thanking me for my mercy in not demanding that you repay every single cent of the salary you essentially stole over the years." Yu Qi replied calmly, her eyes narrowing.

"Stealing? I will show you who is really stealing!" Chen Bo roared.

He had already lost the very last shred of his fragile self-control. After three years of receiving a high salary for doing nothing, he simply could not accept this outcome. In a sudden fit of blind rage, he reached into his jacket pocket and lunged forward, brandishing a jagged, gleaming pocketknife.

Yu Qi watched Chen Bo’s desperate actions with a casual, almost bored air. She admitted to herself that he was indeed quite fast for an ordinary, untrained man. However, to someone like her, his movements were clumsy, slow, and completely telegraphed.

Before Chen Bo could even close the final distance between them, Yu Qi stepped lightly to the side with feline grace. As his hand passed in front of her, she flicked her wrist with blinding speed and struck a precise pressure point on his extended arm.

"Ah!" Chen Bo cried out in sudden, sharp pain.

The knife clattered to the cold pavement instantly as his entire arm went completely numb, hanging uselessly at his side like a dead weight. He stared in absolute shock at his own limp limb. Before he could even begin to comprehend what had just happened, Yu Qi’s palm struck sharply against his chest, sending him stumbling backwards until he collided with the hard concrete pillar with a dull, heavy thud.

"Ahh!" Chen Bo groaned again, sliding down the pillar. "You!!! What did you do to me?!"

"You should not have even considered doing something as foolish as this." Yu Qi whispered in a low, chilling tone that seemed to vibrate in the air.

Chen Bo suddenly felt as though the temperature in the garage had dropped by twenty degrees. A cold, paralysing chill crept down his spine. Yu Qi stepped closer and fixed him with a gaze so sharp it made his breath hitch in his throat. For the first time in his life, Chen Bo truly felt a primal fear.

"You have just attempted to assault me with a deadly weapon. Instead of merely being unemployed, congratulations, you will now be facing a long prison sentence. Did you really think I was such an easy target for your misplaced anger?" Yu Qi chuckled softly.

She spoke that last sentence in an almost inaudible, haunting voice. Chen Bo stared up at her in horror as the reality of his situation set in. Regret flooded his mind. What had he been thinking, trying to attack someone like her?

At that moment, the sound of heavy, rapid footsteps thundered through the garage. The security guards, having monitored the CCTV footage and seen the knife, rushed to the scene in a frantic panic.

"Chairwoman Tang! Are you alright? Are you hurt?" The lead guard shouted urgently as they surrounded the area.

He immediately pinned the dazed and broken Chen Bo to the ground and kicked the jagged knife far out of his reach.

"I am fine. He was not a threat." Yu Qi nodded calmly, smoothing out her clothes.

"What should we do with this man, Chairwoman?" The lead guard asked, looking down at the shivering Chen Bo.

"He is Chen Bo, one of the individuals who was dismissed from the hall today. Call the police immediately. Provide them with the full CCTV footage from this parking lot, along with the knife as physical evidence. I want to press charges against him to the fullest extent of the law." Yu Qi said firmly.

"Yes, Chairwoman Tang. I will handle this matter and contact the authorities immediately." The lead guard nodded, signalling his men to haul Chen Bo away.

Yu Qi gave a slight, dismissive nod in return. She then walked to her car, unlocked it with a quiet beep, and settled into the driver’s seat. As she drove toward the exit, she did not feel even the slightest hint of remorse or guilt. She had a hospital shift to attend to, and in her world, there was simply no room for those who lacked the integrity to earn their place.
