Chapter 1270: Arcane Adaption, Gray Area
Chapter 1270: Arcane Adaption, Gray Area
After thinking about it for a bit, in the end, Izroth decided to prioritize digging up clues related the Deadly Plot of Ignorance.
Izroth’s reason was simple. Rygar was a Grade Seven Apothecary. In Danaharpe, there were not many people who would carelessly touch a member of the Apothecary Guild, let alone someone of Rygar’s standing. Even if he got into some trouble along the way, the Apothecary Guild would not sit back and watch as one of its high-grade members suffered at the hand of others.
’For now, I will focus on what I must do. Besides, since there was no mention of the contract being nullified or broken, at the very least, I know that Rygar is still alive.’
The following moment, Izroth opened his system window to view the alerts that he did not have time to view before Hyrell sent him on his way.
〈System Alert: 1/1 Become «The Last Arcane Script Runemaster, Hyrell»’s student.〉
〈System Alert: You have completed the quest «Acknowledge Me»!〉

〈System Alert: A new reward has been granted! You have learned the profession skill «Arcane Adaption»!〉

’There are new goals that I have to achieve; however, they are not unreasonable. Once of them is even a bonus so it does not have to be completed if I choose so. As for the new rewards—I have no idea what either of them are. But, I have a feeling that I won’t be disappointed. There’s a good chance that my new teacher might have an idea. I will have to ask her the next time we cross paths. Now, this...’
Izroth shifted his attention toward the system alert that most caught his eye. It was a profession skill. Not just any profession skill, but from its name, it seemed to be related to the Arcane Script Runemaster profession!
To receive a profession skill before one truly walked down that profession’s path was incredibly rare.
’I was wondering how it would be possible to complete the bonus part of this quest, but perhaps it will be possible with this skill.’
Skill Name: Arcane Adaption
Skill Level: MAXED
Skill Rank: Unique*
Requirements: ???
Active: The user can declare one living target. The declared target temporarily gains the ability to create «Arcane Scripts» for [1 Hour]. The grade of the «Arcane Script» cannot exceed [Grade-One]. This grade limit and time limit for this skill can increase based on the user’s own understanding of «Arcane Scripts». If the user is the declared target of this skill, its cooldown is increased by 1000%.
Cooldown: 720 hours
Special Note: A skill once used by a select rare few who stood at the pinnacle of the «Arcane Script Runemaster» profession!
The receive Izroth did not pay much mind to the bonus part that was added to the profession quest had to do with Hyrell’s situation. She was someone who had to wait 150 years before she found someone like Izroth who was compatible with becoming an Arcane Script Runemaster.
Izroth did not understand the exact requirements behind such a compatibility; however, it was undeniable that the ability to become an Arcane Script Runemaster these days were scarce. But, what if one could, at the very least, give that person a feel of what it was like to create Arcane Scripts with their own hands? Even if their compatibility was not the best, it might still be possible for them to become Arcane Script Runemasters if they put in the effort.
Arcane Adaption—this was a skill that allowed Izroth to do just that—to temporarily "create" a Grade One Arcane Script Runemaster!
’I have heard of skills that allows those of a higher grade in the same profession that helps to improve the techniques of those of a lower grade than them. But, this is the first time I have heard of a skill being able to essentially turn someone into a craftsman. Even if it’s only temporary, it can enable one to understand principles that are difficult to explain with words alone. It also doesn’t seem impossible to use on myself. Though the cooldown increase is nothing to scoff at.’
Needless to say, Izroth did not plan to use Arcane Adaption on himself. For one the increased cooldown time was too long. Furthermore, Hyrell had already confirmed that he was someone who had enough compatibility to become a Arcane Script Runemaster. He was confident that he could create an Arcane Script with his own hands given a bit more time.
Once he finished checking over everything, Izroth closed out his system window.
’It seems that I will have to contact Avia so that she can relay another message to the Head Apothecary Varuu. Otherwise, the entire situation can become messy. In the meantime, I will organize all the information I collected while I was in the Formation Master Guild’s library while I search for clues and wait for Yi Ying’s report.’
If it was discovered that an Honorary Elder of the Apothecary Guild had been assassinated within the vicinity of the Formation Master Guild building, the Formation Master Guild would not be able to escape taking responsibility. While it would certainly put the Vice-Head’s faction in a tough spot and stop the Duvelle family from poking their noses any further into the Formation Master Guild’s matter, a lot of innocent people would also be swept up in the chaos.
Izroth departed from the area near the front of the Formation Master District as he headed toward the center of Danaharpe.
’The best place to gather information in Danaharpe is undoubtedly the Central Hub.’
The Central Hub was a gathering point for all the professions in Danaharpe. Not to mention, there were many powerful organizations that lurked in the shadows and showed themselves on the surface.
Many of the noble families in Danaharpe also had many ties to the Central Hub. And, if there was one thing Izroth knew about those noble families was that they always aimed to keep up with the latest news. After all, information was one of the most powerful weapons that a noble could have.
’If Danaharpe is like any other city, then there are bound to be organizations who tread in the gray areas. As long as I can find them, it might be possible to also find leads related to the League of the Eidolon and what they’re planning.’
Izroth made his way toward the Central Hub with his identity hidden.
...
A few moments later...
Izroth arrived in the Central Hub of Danaharpe. As always, it was bustling with life as people were moving back and forth through the streets. The shops in the Central Hub were always filled to the brim with traffic. Many of the places had promoters who stood outside trying to get others to come into their establishment.
"We have a sale on potions going on! Buy one get your next of equal or lower value half off! A minimum purchase of 100 gold coins is required!" One of the promoters shouted out.
"New magic scrolls here! Offense, defense, utility—we have all that you can desire!"
"The Treasure Hunt sponsored by the Golden Dragon Association is officially opening in fifteen minutes! If you wish to participant, all it takes is 50 gold coins per attempt! It’s your chance to win big and walk away with a rare magic item in your hands!"
