Chapter 1446: Where are you, my old friend?

Chapter 1446: Where are you, my old friend?

"Fire attuned worlds, huh?" Tilia tapped her fingers on the table. "There are indeed some worlds like that but they are extremely harsh. The well known ones at least."

Hmmm… Liam frowned. An extremely harsh environment might not be the best for what he was after. In an extremely harsh environment there won't be many living beings and souls for him to harvest. It would only delay his progress.

Sure, he could always make his fire clone sit there and meditate and gain enlightenment the natural way but that would simply be a waste of his skillset and abilities.

Seeing his expression, Tilia again suggested. "There are some alternatives. I am sure there are more worlds with the environment you are looking for. These would be more suitable for training. Its just that these worlds are often under the control of other empires."

"If you give me some time, I can try to gather more information on these worlds. I do have to warn you that it might take a while. These secrets will not be easily shared. Powerful clans consider these resources as their top secret and hoard them without giving access to anyone else. Sometimes not even their closest allies."

"Our world is already hidden and we do not have any faction backing us. I will try my best to obtain the information through back channels but I am really out of my depth here."

"That's fine." Liam nodded. "Don't worry about it. You do not have to waste your time on this. I have some other sources where I can look for these worlds."

Without hesitation, Liam activated his teleportation token for the Eternal Sword Palace and entered the purple world. His status there was no less than his status in the Green Mountain Sect. He was able to easily obtain information and to his surprise he was even able to obtain some tokens of entrance to these worlds.

Of course, he had to pay the merits for these things through pill concoction which he finished in the next couple of days. Soon, it was time for the big move.

Liam summoned his fire dao clone and looked at his counterpart from top to bottom. "I guess you are as ready as you will ever be." He smiled bitterly. He then summoned Luna from his soul space.

"Master! I don't want to go~" The little fox immediately whined but Liam put on a stern expression. "Its not good for you to be always cooped up inside. Don't you want to come out and play?"

"But I want to play with you master~ not him~ nyaaa~"

Liam chuckled. "Are you a cat or a fox?"

In the end, Luna reluctantly agreed. Liam gave the teleportation token to his clone, and Luna snatched it from him. "I will activate it. He might screw it up!"

Liam was speechless. He wanted to clarify to the little monster that the clone was also him, just the same, but he decided to let the little beast have her way. Why ruin a good surprise?

A minute later, a portal shimmered open, rippling with threads of violet flame. Luna's tails stood on end as she nuzzled with Liam one more time before jumping into the portal. The dao clone then exchanged a nod with Liam before stepping in as well.

When the token pulsed, the fire dao clone and Luna vanished into the blazing void. The connection between them thinned until it was a faint ember at the edge of Liam's consciousness.

He exhaled, letting his mind drift through that fading bond, feeling the oppressive heat, the roar of molten rivers, the endless red dunes of a sun-scorched world. The two of them had already spotted their first prey.

A red-skinned salamander. The beast looked ordinary, but that was only for a second. As soon as it sensed a new presence, the beast lit up like fireworks, a terrifying aura rolling off of it. Luna wouldn't have it. In turn, she unleashed her own terrifying aura, making the salamander take a step back.

Liam's clone, on the other hand, silently lifted his hand and sent out a blast of attack.

The blast wasn't grand or ostentatious, just a flicker of condensed fire essence, refined to perfection. It streaked across the air like a needle of sunlight, piercing through the salamander's defensive flames before the beast could react.

A dull thud echoed through the wasteland as the creature's molten body collapsed into the sand, steam rising in lazy curls. The clone's crimson eyes didn't waver. One hand stretched out, and a faint stream of fiery soul essence drifted toward him, vanishing into his palm.

Luna's tails bristled in delight. "Hmph! That's what happens when you glare at us!" she declared, puffing up her fur as if she had done all the work. The clone didn't respond. His focus had already shifted to the next prey.

Liam sensed the antics of the two through his connection and chuckled. That clone would now walk through storms of fire where even metal melted like wax, seeking to master the flame laws faster than any mortal could. Hopefully, Luna would gain something as well. Her growth had pretty much stagnated.

However, he couldn't let the two of them have all the fun. He stretched his hands, let out a yawn, and then sat down. He then pulled up some old system contracts that he hadn't bothered to check in a while.

Naturally, there was a reason for it. Sometimes it was best not to suffocate some people and allow them to grow on their own terms. But that did not mean he had completely forgotten about them. Someone out in the vast wide multiverse owed him something and it was now finally time to collect.

"Now… where is that shady guy?" With a smile, Liam tugged at the system contract of an old buddy, a buddy who excelled at divination. A buddy whose only flaw was that anything he divined revealed the exact opposite of what the divination result should have been.

"Where are you, my old friend?"
