Chapter 1445: Under attack!

Chapter 1445: Under attack!

Liam could immediately sense many eyes on him. Most of them were looking down at him as he probably was the first person to return from the treasure lands. But Liam did not care about these people at the moment. He was out of the fire and now he needed to get out of the frying pan too.

He had already vacated his residence and packed everything up. So there was no reason for him to linger here. He immediately took out a teleportation token when suddenly the portal flared up and more people began to appear.

Nyx was the first to step out and many gasps could be heard on her arrival. After all, the treasure lands had just opened and no one expected a powerful figure like Nyx to step out so soon. But maybe someone powerful like her had already secured something truly priceless and hence she came out? Many people began to speculate many things.

The only problem was her face. Instead of a triumphant look, her face was filled with horror and dread as he hurriedly stumbled outside. She also looked as if she had been through a lot and had only barely survived. Just as everyone wondered what was going on, Nyx started shouting at the top of her voice.

"Sound the alarm! Call the seniors! We are under attack!"

The entire plaza fell silent for a moment. Then chaos erupted.

"What is she saying?"

"An attack?"

"Is the treasure realm collapsing?"

"No, look at her, she's terrified!"

Sirens hidden deep within the mountain echoed out, their long, keening wails vibrating through the very bones of the Green Mountain Sect. Defensive formations shimmered to life across the sky. Elders shot into motion, and portals blinked open as higher-level powerhouses began to arrive in flashes of light.

Liam stood amid the maelstrom, eyes locked on Nyx. Her face was pale, streaked with ash and blood, her robes in tatters. This wasn't just panic. This was trauma. Something had truly gone wrong inside.

But even more troubling to Liam was the timing.

She came out barely a minute after him. That meant the attack was happening now. He watched as Nyx teleported away from the treasure lands portal and started casting all sorts of defensive barriers around it.

The other powerhouses also got the message without her having to explain and everyone looked warily at the treasure lands portal.

On the side, Liam already activated the teleportation token without hesitation. He had no interest in staying back and watching where this was all headed to. In fact, he had a pretty good idea where.

Obviously, the damned draconic beast creatures had followed him right into the Green Mountain Sect!

And he was not planning to stay back and fight them. Sure, he might gain a lot here from a large scale war like this but greediness could lead to his demise. He had finally found to way to break through and he was not going to die now.

A blinding white light covered him and the teleportation token activated without any issue. Once again many heads turned towards him. Everyone could clearly see him all ready to run. The powerhouse remained indifferent but many of the seniors and elders looked angry and disgusted.

Nyx, in particular, stared at him as if he had personally killed her entire family.

Liam did not care. No one stopped him and that's was all that mattered. The portal sputtered once again, quickly grabbing all of the attention back to itself. Just as Liam's teleportation began and the world around him started to twist and change, he could clearly see the next being that stepped out of that portal.

And it was not a disciple of the Green Mountain Sect.

The pair of draconic eyes instantly fell on Liam but it was already too late. Just as the roars of many more draconic creatures sounded, Liam was long gone. He could no longer see the Green Mountain Sect anymore or any of the chaos.

He was once again standing in a familiar system shop and it only took a moment before Tilia rushed over to him. "Liam! Are you okay?" The fairy did not even see him and this was the first thing she blurted out.

Liam smiled bitterly. "I have truly worried everyone, haven't I?"

Tilia stuck out her tongue. "Nothing like that at all. I just don't want something to happen to my whale customer." She giggled.

Liam only slightly smiled. He turned to look at the spot where he had teleported to, the center of the rune as a small feeling of guilt appeared within him.

Normally he wouldn't care. He would just be glad that he was not knee deep in shit but this time it felt a little different. It was not that he cared about the sect or anyone in the sect. It was more about that old man.

He was grateful to the old man. It was not like they were master and disciple or anything like that. It was just a small interaction they had which barely lasted for a second and yet Liam couldn't deny that he owed that old man something.

Maybe that was why this particular escape left a bitter taste in his mouth. He had brought a disaster upon the sect and yet had ran away from there as if none of it mattered to him. It did not and in some ways, it did.

Liam closed eyes and tried to settle himself. The draluras were powerful. There was no doubt about it but the sect wasn't helpless either. Both the sides were powerhouses. He, on the other hand, wasn't in any condition to help them even if he stayed back.

The chances of his being useful was extremely small. There was a bigger chance for one of the big guys to directly one shot him.

Liam let out a sigh. Even though he could justify his actions again and again, he couldn't deny the small guilt. He silently resolved to help out the Green Mountain Sect in the future if he got another opportunity to do so.

After that, he did not dwell on it anymore. "Let's go. I have a lot to discuss with you." He smiled at Tilia and the two of them started walking out of the system shop portal room.
