Re-Awakening: I Became a Pay To Win Boss Monster

Chapter 987: Brocon?

“What do you want me to say?” Renoir replied. “I did what I had to do, since I thought that was the best thing to do at the moment. You can blame me, and you can hate me, but nothing will change the fact that I did what was in my best interests.”

Melissa scoffed. “I know. You’ve always done that. Ever since you abandoned me in the hospital, and ever since we supposedly made up. I thought you were different, but you’re still the same selfish bastard who doesn’t deserve anything given to him.”

She narrowed her eyes. “Does your wife know you treat the ones you love this way? Or should I tell her?”

Noticing how things were stepping into ’that’ territory, Rael chimed in:

“Don’t bring his wife into this. It’s between you two.”

Both of them gave Rael a side eye, then ignored him. Especially Renoir, who had an interesting thought.

“How about I repent? There are plenty of ways I can think of punishing myself, so just choose whichever one you’d like.”

Hm.

A very stupid idea, but Melissa seemed kind of into it.

“I don’t want to hear any of them. If you’re really sincere, give up your powers. Scatter all your mana into the cosmos, and leave behind everything that made you powerful. Only then will I accept your apology and think of it as sincere.”

“That’s bullshit, no?” Nyx chimed in. “Why would you want him to be powerless and killable? If he does it, he’s going to die in like 50 years. What about his kid? What about his wife? Talk about selfishness, tsk tsk. You’re both massive idiots.”

Rael nodded. “I agree with Nyx on this one. We’re not regular humans who live and die with their legacy living on. This isn’t right.”

Renoir seemed to think the same. “I could cut off an arm permanently, or gouge out my eyes… But no, I’m not planning to give away all my power.”

Despite there only being four people present, Melissa felt like all three of them were against her. Even Rael, who had called her here, given her the rundown, and even restored her memories. He might not know how selfish Renoir was, but she did.

She knew way too well.

But what could she do? What they were saying wasn’t wrong… If he were to give up his powers, then his child would grow up without a father. As for her, what happens when her hate fades and she eventually decides she wants to reconcile?

She wouldn’t be able to, since there wouldn’t be anyone to reconcile with. It was a sad reality to accept, but was there really anything she wanted to do to make him pay? Mess with his memories, maybe?

“Ah, I wouldn’t mess with his memories either. He’s a bit emotionally unstable as is because of his wife returning. If there are gaps in his memories, then he’s bound to relapse,” Rael bullshitted with a straight face, and because Melissa wasn’t paying attention to him, she wasn’t able to tell that he was lying.

“I see…” Melissa paused for a couple of minutes, pondering over all the possibilities she could tap into.

As for the trio, they grouped up and glanced at one another.

“Tsk… If you hadn’t brought her here, we would’ve never had to have this conversation,” Renoir said.

“Be glad he brought her here. If you never reconciled with her, you’d be hurt,” Nyx replied.

He shook his head with a frown. “No, I wouldn’t. I’m someone who doesn’t give a shit about ties like that. If you think I’m like Rael, then I’m not. He inherited my human traits. I’m not that kind of person anymore.”

Afterwards, he turned to Rael. “And as for you. Fuck you two times for all this bullshit and headaches you’re causing me.”

Rael shrugged. “You win some, you lose some. On the bright side, you’ll have a baby soon. Just make sure you don’t check your mail once in the next 9 months, since I might just reveal the baby’s gender and what you’ll name it. Heh.”

“…”

Renoir found his act ridiculous, but before he could lash out, Melissa coughed, making all three of them turn around and glance at her.

“I’ve decided on the punishment,” she said, glancing over to Renoir.

“Use mana or whatever you want, but make your child a girl. Then, name her after me. I will strictly visit that child and give it attention. Also, you mustn’t refuse when I try to train her and give her all sorts of powers she might find of interest. She is going to be better than you, and I’ll make sure of it.”

That’s it?

[Hmm… I thought she might have a soft spot, but she’s totally a bro-con, isn’t she?] Nyx said inside his mind. [Who knew all of this was a farce just to assert herself into his life. But how will his wife feel about it? Because I sure as shit know she’s going to snitch about their past to her.]

Rael shrugged. Whatever it is, I feel like I should stop giving a shit. Being an empath doesn’t exactly suit me. They can solve their own problems. If anything, I’m only doing this so they don’t come back for no particular reason. Since they’ll now be preoccupied for a while, I have a few things I want to do.

Notably, find the Yggdrasil Melissa and Altros a new home and help them establish their faction. And afterwards… Although there wasn’t much he wanted to do, he definitely wanted to pay Vatyra a visit, especially since, by the looks of things, she had been doing nothing but lazing around in her own personal realm.

At the very least, he wanted to take her to dinner tomorrow with Uriel and Solenne. That was the least he owed her for taking care of Uriel for so long.

But until then, he wanted to see how this would play out first.
