Chapter 697: Talent Pill
Capítulo 697: Talent Pill
The city of Seoul was as active as ever.
Rael wasn’t really surprised by that fact, and neither was Anna, who was actively scanning the people beside him.
“I’ve scanned every casino in sight. It appears you are not present in any one of them,” Anna stated confidently.
His brow twitched.
“Do you take me for a total gambler? You know I had other hobbies besides gambling, right?”
Anna nodded.
“I have also scouted out the strip clubs and the flea markets. You’re nowhere to be found.”
“…”
Well, as much as Rael wanted to deny it, he would most likely be in one of those places at this time.
However, once he glanced down at the apartment complex where he used to live, he froze for a moment.
The place where he lived was quiet, but it wasn’t always quiet.
There used to be a nightclub right outside his apartment complex, and coincidentally, that nightclub was currently active, even during the day.
He wasn’t sure how it was legal to blast loud music 24/7, but since they managed to do it, the whole complex couldn’t get any sleep until one day, someone from the complex decided to use their chemist background to set off an explosive inside the nightclub.
Rael’s father was impressive like that.
Though he was also a scumbag.
Nonetheless, since the nightclub was there and not destroyed, Rael realized that the timeline here was a little different.
He was in the past, around the time when he was still 10 years old or so.
Which also meant his family, and most importantly, Melissa, was still not in her coma.
This was one of the happiest years of his life, since back then, he hadn’t been compared to his sister yet.
A happy family.
That was ideal.
Correcting his posture, Rael and Anna eventually descended into the apartment complex and arrived in front of a particular door.
The door was the biggest apartment in the complex and also the apartment where he lived most of his life.
Taking a few deep breaths, Rael eventually knocked on the door.
A few seconds passed by quickly.
Then a minute.
Just as he was about to knock again, the door suddenly opened.
The one who opened it was none other than a naive, black-haired child.
He was Rael.
And because he opened the door for complete strangers, he was going to get a real ass whooping later.
Still, kid Rael stared at Anna and him for a few moments before finally tilting his head.
“Cosplayers?”
“…”
“Something like that,” Rael said with a chuckle. “Say, kid. How are you doing?”
He kind of wished he had thought of something to say before heading down here.
Because now, he sounded a little like a…
Anyhow…
“I’m okay. Do you want something, sir?” kid Rael asked.
Anna stepped up.
“Could we perhaps converse with your parents for a short moment, if that is alright with you?”
“…”
He stepped back, as if getting a bad feeling about this.
Then, he abruptly slammed the door shut and locked it before finally screaming from the other side of the door.
“Y-You’re assassins! Get away!”
Damn.
Rael was about to solve the misunderstanding, but that was when he heard footsteps to his left.
When he turned toward them, he spotted his family, including Melissa, walking side by side with a few bags of groceries.
Yet when his family spotted Rael and Anna, they stopped for a moment.
His father stepped forward with a majestic smile.
“Could I help you two? Are you lost?”
“…We are your new neighbors. I thought it best to introduce ourselves, but it appears no one was home.”
Having said that, Rael subtly reached into his pocket, when in reality, he quickly opened up the Premium Shop and bought a few rice cakes.
They symbolized good fortune, and when given to a neighbor, it would be like a gentle wish to have a smooth relationship with them.
So the moment Rael held up the rice cakes in front of his father, all the tension defused in an instant.
“Ah! You should’ve just said so!”
His father took a few steps forward and patted Rael on the back.
“You’re pretty sturdy, aren’t you? I’d invite you for some tea, but our home is a mess at the moment.”
“It’s fine. Don’t worry about it,” Rael replied calmly. “I’m sure we’ll get to meet each other very soon after all.”
With those words, Rael glanced past his father and at his mother.
She was a kind-looking woman.
Only a little later would she turn into a complete and total sociopath who wanted nothing but success for Melissa.
And speaking of Melissa, she hung around by her mother’s side, holding onto her sleeve innocently.
It was nice seeing something like this from a new perspective.
Rael could only hope he would be able to change the future.
And of course, he could.
It was very easy.
But the future where Melissa was treated as the sole child, and Rael, who was holding her back… Rael had no idea how to prevent that.
Or maybe he did?
“Anyways, since that’s that, I’ll invite you two over next time. Good luck, and I hope you have a fine evening.”
With those words, his father, alongside the rest of his family, stepped inside their home.
But right as they were about to close the door, Rael abruptly stopped time.
Stepping in through the crack in the door, he observed his house, which was filled with nothing but fond memories and pictures of his childhood.
It really was a refreshing sight.
But the reason Rael stepped inside was not for the nostalgia.
Instead, it was simply because of what he had just picked up from the Premium Shop.
That’s right.
If Rael wasn’t talented, and hard work wasn’t enough.
Why not just skip all that and make him talented?
