Chapter 609: Job Application?
Chapter 609: Job Application?
Seeing the pop-ups, Rael’s confusion only lingered for a few moments.
He had reached quite a high Mastery with his Fate Affinity, but the effects hadn’t changed a bit.
Sure, the Universal Strikes and World Strikes seemed to barely do anything to him, but he attributed it to his combined Transformation.
Still, he knew that only good things waited for him inside the Prophetic Realm.
Therefore, he immediately hopped in.
Unlike before where the travel was instant, this time it took nearly five seconds to get adjusted.
When he opened his eyes, instead of there being a scenario he had to imagine, there was a glowing altar in the very center, surrounded by moss and vines.
Approaching it, Rael walked around a little bit, too wary to approach but also too curious to stay away.
But since it was inside his Prophetic Realm, he knew whatever this was wouldn’t harm him.
So eventually, he approached the altar and spotted a tiny black marble resting inside it.
He tried to inspect it, but it didn’t work.
In the end, Rael interpreted it as the altar wanting him to eat the black marble.
And so he did.
Plopping it into his mouth, Rael swallowed it with a crunch.
The taste was god awful, but once it traveled down his throat, Rael suddenly felt a burst of mana escape his heart and envelop the altar in front of him.
<Ding!>
<You have consumed the Supreme Beast’s Core>
<Assimilation will begin once you find your body.>
“…?”
Seriously?
That was a bit unexpected, but it saved him the trouble of having to worry about how he would regain his memories afterwards.
Even so…
“System, my guardian, or whoever you are. Will I stay the same person even if I regain my memories?”
A moment later, he surprisingly got a reply.
<The memories will feel foreign at first, and you, as someone who has lived here for quite a few years now, will be able to tell them apart. They will change you, but they are similar to the memories you gain through the Premium Facade perk. You can opt out of a few memories, or even delete them altogether.>
<…>
<You have insufficient authority to request that information.>
“Well, you kind of missed the order of that authority bit, but I appreciate it,” Rael replied with a chuckle. “So I’ll still remain myself regardless of what happens. Hmm… If it’s not too big of a secret, how many years worth of memories will I get? I mean, when did the Shattering really start?”
<Your age is unknown.>
Right…
“But doesn’t the system display my age? Can’t you take a peek at my body and give me an answer?”
<You have insufficient authority to request that information.>
“Alrighty then.”
Even though he wouldn’t be getting an answer, he was satisfied with the information he got.
Still, the taste of that black marble wasn’t very pleasant.
Yet as he thought those were all the effects of the marble, he was quickly left surprised.
<Ding!>
<Fate Affinity has evolved into: Law of Fate (Supreme+)>
<Law of Fate (Supreme+) – 100% Mastery>
<Description: A slightly evolved version of a Supreme Law that governs the unseen threads binding all events, choices, and outcomes. You gain the absolute ability to glimpse into the future, past, and present. You may glance into different timelines, and you may now greatly alter probabilities of all beings, but at a cost.>
<The One (Special Unique Effect): You are no longer fully bound by the laws of any single universe or the Divine Realm.>
<100% Mastery Evolved Effect>
<You may ascend to the status of: God of Fate>
<God of Fate>
<Reward: Fate Manipulation Efficiency +10,000%>
Oho.
For once, instead of being bombarded with many skills, he got a flat effect.
And it was something he desperately needed too.
Fate Efficiency.
Still, it said that he had to ascend to the God of Fate status first, and although Rael didn’t know how… when in doubt, go the chuunibyou route.
“I’ll become the God of Fate.”
“…”
Nothing happened.
Just then, he glanced back at the effect, and in the corner of his vision he spotted a pop-up.
<Would you like to ascend to the status of: God of Fate?><Yes / No>
That was definitely not there before… Rael coughed and immediately pressed yes.
In the next instant, Rael’s body began to glow.
The effects didn’t really seem to do anything directly to his body or even increase his power. Sure, he felt a higher mastery over Fate, but…
“Huh?”
As he glanced to the side, he noticed his hair had grown paler and slightly more colorful.
Instead of his usual platinum hair, it resembled more silver or very pale blonde.
Not only that, as he glanced at his reflection on the altar, he saw a halo floating right above his head.
Rael’s brows twitched as he raised his hand, yanking the halo off.
When he held it in his hands, he realized it felt like just some cheap ceramic ring. Still, since it glowed and looked kinda cool, he decided to keep it.
As he plopped it back onto his head, Rael’s body stopped glowing, and in the end, only his hair color changed.
His gaze perhaps got sharper, but it wasn’t that noticeable.
Still, when it was finally over and the altar eventually vanished from his sight, another pop-up appeared in front of him.
This time, it wasn’t any information but rather… Employment?
<You have successfully become the God of Fate>
<From here on out, fate is in your hands. You are expected to not interfere with the world and use your fate to control probabilities from a distance. You may not engage in any marital affairs->
“Alright, what the fuck do you think this is,” Rael snapped. “I’d understand the first bit, but you’re asking me to abandon my wives? Take this status back and fuck off in that case.”
<…>
<Would you like to abandon your duties as the God of Fate? Yes / No>
<Notice: If you abandon your duties, you will retain the effects, but you will make an enemy of ???>
“Too big of a pussy to even show your name, huh.” Rael clicked his tongue and pressed yes.
<You have abandoned your duties!>
<You are now an enemy of ???>
Not caring about it in the slightest, Rael closed all those pop-ups, and when it seemed like it was over, he turned to another matter.
Since he now had the Law of Fate, and he was kind of the God of Fate, he might as well try to figure out the perfect way to deal with Lucien.
And this time, he hoped the information wasn’t shrouded.
