Chapter 419: Power Up [ 2 / 2 ]
Chapter 419: Power Up [ 2 / 2 ]
[Whatever you do, don’t transform into a dragon now,] Burger said hurriedly. [You need to adjust to your new body first. Then, you can transform. If you transform now, then you’re going to suffocate. Trust me, my second disciple had the same issue, so I’d know.]
Rael rolled his eyes. Don’t worry, I’m not too eager to transform just yet. Plus, I might get enough money by the end of this to combine the Full Dragon Transformation and my Second Phase. I wonder how that’ll turn out…?
With those words, he turned toward the city of Elmlot in the distance. It seemed the commotion he caused had caught their attention, and because of that, several hundred troops were now marching in his direction, their weapons drawn.
However, he wasn’t done just yet.
<Ding!>
Rael sighed and proceeded to buy the upgrade.
However, this was something he wasn’t going to buy the Sleeping Potion for.
Not because he didn’t want to spend any more money, but simply because he was sure he could handle it.
Therefore…
<Ding!>
His body began heating up, and at the same time, he remembered a skill he’d stolen from the dragon, Mercurius. Coincidentally, the other options were locked because he wasn’t a part of the Dragon race.
But now? He was at least a half-dragon. Therefore, he opened the skill, and to his relief, he was able to see the other options.
Draconic Mana Manipulation (Ethereal) [Level 100 | MAX]
—The primary skill of the Dragon race.
1. Draconic Mana (Passive): Filter your regular Mana in exchange for 100% Draconic Mana.
2. (Unlocked) Dragon’s Dominion (Passive): Enemies within 1,000 meters have their Willpower and Agility reduced by 25%, while also taking 0.5% Max HP damage/sec. (Reduced effect vs. stronger enemies.)
3. (Unlocked) Mana Reversal (Active): Force all mana within 1,000 meters to flow backward. Instantly destroy active mana shields, barriers, and protection spells.
4. (Unlocked) Tyrant’s Leash (Active): Attach a draconic tether to one target within 1,500 meters. You can pull them toward you or keep them locked in place. Every 2 seconds, the tether drains 1% of the target’s max HP and MP, giving it to you. (Reduced effect vs. stronger enemies.)
5. (Unlocked) Dragon Inheritance (Racial): As a newborn dragon, you are now able to enter the Dragon Realm at will.
[Listen to the notice this time,] Burger chimed in. [And preferably, avoid entering the Dragon Realm until your Dragon Heart has reached Tier 4. You’re going to get ridiculed for your lack of strength. Trust me, I’d know.]
Rael nodded slowly, and when he tried to take a step forward, he suddenly fell. Only then did he realize that his legs had disintegrated.
And the pain that had been building up since he had begun the evolution finally hit him.
Yet he didn’t scream. Instead, he dragged his body up the mountain, gritting through the pain as his senses were assaulted.
At this point, he really wished he had bought a Sleeping Potion, but it was too late to regret it.
Therefore, Rael soon rested himself against the mountain and looked up into the sky, feeling the pain overwhelm him.
But that was when all the pain finally faded away, replaced by a soothing feeling.
Rael used that peaceful moment to speed up his heartbeat, trying to heal himself quicker. But to his surprise, the Dragon Heart was much harder to control than his regular heart, and because of that, he had accidentally made his heart beat nearly 1,000 times per second.
In turn, his legs sprouted in an instant, blasting the entire mountain range before him into bits and sending a small landslide down to the city.
The troops that were heading for him stopped, and with widened eyes, they began sprinting toward the landslide, casting all sorts of magic spells to block it from colliding with the city.
As for Rael, he rose from the ground and stretched his back.
Fuck evolution, Rael thought. Why do they have to make it so painful? Just add a built-in painkiller function or something… is it that much to ask?
[Just buy a skill that disables your nervous system or something,] Burger suggested. [Anyhow, check the race you just got. I’m curious.]
Hearing that, Rael took a deep breath and refocused on the interface.
And as expected, the race he received was not bad in the slightest.
Eternal Fatekin (Transcendent)
—Evolve into a being who shapes and rewrites destiny itself, bending the threads of fate to your will.
+2% → +15% Resistance to Causality Damage
+5 → 50% Efficiency to Prediction-Based skills and abilities
+0.1% → 15% Affinity with the Time Element
(NEW) +1% Affinity with the Fate Element
—Skills:
1. Temporal Stasis (Transcendent): Freeze an opponent in time for 5 seconds. Doesn’t work on enemies stronger than you.
Cost: 15 Trillion MTP | Cooldown: 60 minutes.
2. Fate Severance (Transcendent): Mark a target’s fate for collapse. After 5s, the mark triggers, dealing heavy Time and Fate Damage.
Fate Severance Damage Scaling:
1. Time Damage: Deal more damage to opponents older than you.
2. Fate Damage: Deal more damage to opponents who have less Karma/Causality than you. Deals extra damage to enemies who have negative Karma/Causality.
Cost: 10 Trillion MTP | Cooldown: 480 minutes.
Oho… this is even more overpowered than I expected, Rael thought with a smirk.
The resistance to Causality Damage was something he had prepared in advance, since he was fairly certain the moment everyone started to remember him, his causality would plummet down to shit.
The skills were even more overpowered, and the Fate Severance skill was something that reminded him of the skill Solenne had used against him.
As for the Affinities, he didn’t know how to feel about them.
But a Time Dragon or a Fate Dragon, combined with Plasma, Crystals, his races and all of the other fancy stuff he had in stock, did seem a little alluring.
Just a little…
Rael wiped the drool off his mouth and took a step forward.
Or rather, he tried to, but he seemed to float. When he glanced down, he realized he no longer had legs.
Did the transformation not finish? I swear I had legs just a moment ago…
He panicked for a moment, searching through the Fatekin race, until eventually, he found the setting he was looking for.
“…”
Bald?
[Phahaha, you should see the moon’s reflection off your bald head, dumbass,] Burger taunted, and Rael ignored him right away before disabling this stupid appearance trait.
<Ding!>
In an instant, his legs came back, and so did his long platinum hair.
Rael brushed his hair back and let out a relieved sigh.
Just like that, he finished his little power-up, and now, it was time to have a calm and hopefully productive chat with the ruler of the Unified Kingdom of Elmlot, Malinali Liesa.
