Chapter 418: Power Up [ 1 / 2 ]
(Outskirts of Elmlot, the capital of the Unified Kingdom of Elmlot.)
[Rael’s POV]
Rael was only a few kilometers away from Elmlot, currently resting on a mountain range. In the distance, he saw a large city, with several canals scattered throughout, water flowing freely and people traversing with boats instead of carriages.
Peddlers had their wares on the water as well, settled along the canal, selling to every passerby.
The port wasn’t too far away either. It was connected to the many canals, and if one wanted to, they could take a boat over to the port.
However, the boats, or rather, ships, in the port were far from ordinary ships. They were all pirate ships, with pirate flags hanging from each one.
But instead of skulls on their flags, it was the beautiful face of a green-eyed woman. She had long, flowing green hair and an arrogant smirk on her face.
Rael felt himself getting pissed off just staring at it, so he decided to head on over and begin the talks.
Or that was the goal anyway. However…
[Bastard… Dragon Heart. Now,] Burger muttered, oozing an ominous aura.
Oh right… Dragon Heart… how could I have forgotten… Rael whistled.
He did kind of forget it, just a little.
But now that Burger had reminded him, it was time to get two things out of the way.
First, the Draconic Heart, and then the Fractured Fatekin race that would set him back 50 Premium Coins, aka 50 Billion Trell.
However, it was about time he focused more on his stats, because the people he had been going up against lately had all been stronger than him. Sure, he dealt a lot of damage, which in turn made it possible for him to close the gap between levels, but that was only on the surface.
As it stands, everyone has way too much HP, and even if I hit for quadrillions with a simple punch, it doesn’t matter. They just tank it.
So with those thoughts in mind, he navigated to his Tier 6 Lesser Ancient Dragon Bloodline and focused on the last option.
Bloodline Core (Locked)

Requirement: Draconic Intelligence: 50.
He focused on it for a few moments, and then pressed the (Locked) tab, and in an instant, several pop-ups appeared before him.

Burger, on a scale of 1 to 10, how painful is it going to be? Rael asked patiently.
Burger chuckled. [What was your most painful experience so far?]
Rael thought about it for a moment, and then answered. Probably when that volcano planet exploded with me in the core… why? Will it be worse?
[Yep. Imagine that, but three times worse. No, maybe four times worse,] Burger replied flatly. [But don’t worry, the process you’ll go through is—Hey! What are you doing?]
Almost as if it was fate, a potion that coincidentally forced him to sleep for 5 minutes had miraculously appeared in Rael’s hands.

[Come on, if you don’t endure the pain, then how are you going to be disciplined?] Burger complained. [As a dragon, you will have to face many challenges, all of which will test your resolve, and—]

Rael opened his eyes, jolted awake by a wave of pain.
The entire mountain range around him was in tatters, broken rocks, several pools of magma, and even a few areas where an abnormal amount of mana was gathered.
As for the pain, it wasn’t as bad as he expected. Honestly, it was almost like someone had punched him in the chin several times…
Burger, do that again and I’m going to throw you into the next shitter I see.
[Whatever do you mean?] Burger whistled. [You went through immense pain, so it’s only natural that some of the damage even appeared on your body.]
Despite the clever attempt at bullshittery, Rael just so happened to have a skill that saw through all the lies, including the ones Burger had just spoken.
But before he could retaliate, he found himself out of breath.
His brows furrowed, and with great effort, he gathered his strength and slowly stood up. Though he did have to use his Mana Manipulation skill to do so.
And that was when he realized what kind of changes he had gone through.
He placed a hand over his chest and felt a rather loud heartbeat that caused his entire body to tremble each time it beat.
Rael’s heart hadn’t just expanded significantly, instead, it had been replaced with a Dragon Heart entirely. Because of that, his body now required more effort to breathe, move, and even control his mana.
However, he was sure that effect was temporary. After all, he had practically just gotten a heart transplant.
Nonetheless, his body felt energized, and even his mana control felt smoother.
With that in mind, Rael decided to redirect his focus onto the pop-ups that detailed all of his changes.
And as expected, they were major.
