Chapter 376: Casual Tomfoolery, And A What?
Chapter 376: Casual Tomfoolery, And A What?
[Rael’s POV]
(Solenne’s Silver Palace, several months after the memory wipe.)
“So you’re saying you don’t know?” Solenne asked. “How could that be?”
Feeling the intense pressure, Alcetas bowed lower, his face practically hitting the floor.
“We looked all over… but the man going by the name of Alvares does not exist,” Alcetas said. “We’ve looked through all our controlled areas, and even searched for his wife, but there is no record or even a trace of anyone connected to Alvares D. Thalorin Vandemar Kestelrune III, Grand Archivist of the Lust Cult, Last Warden of the Black Mire Prison, Bearer of the Holy Sword Excalibur, Keeper of the Ancient Scrolls, Exile of the Heaven realm, Survivor of Heaven’s wrath, and supposed father to two beautiful dragon daughters.”
Solenne slammed her fist down onto her armrest, shattering it.
“How hard is it to find one person!?” Solenne yelled. “We have the greatest information network in this universe!”
“Miss Solenne…” Alene called out, her voice cracking. “You told us the man’s name, but… doesn’t it seem fake?”
Solenne’s brows twitched. “Are you assuming I am spouting lies?”
“I’m just saying there’s always a possibility you are being tricked,” Alene replied, not backing down.
She met Solenne’s gaze with a resolute look, then spoke. “We looked for nearly three months. There’s no trace of that man anywhere.”
“The Lust Cult is composed entirely of women, and there’s no such thing as Black Mire Prison. The Holy Sword Excalibur is just a shabby toy that all of us could break with a single tap of our fingers. For that to be a part of his title, it doesn’t add up…”
Alene let out a sigh. “And as for the last parts, Keepers of the Ancient Scrolls are born into that position. They can’t be from Heaven because of that. Oh, and Heaven’s wrath? God wouldn’t punish a Fallen Angel directly unless that angel slept with God’s wife or something.”
“…” Solenne’s brows twitched.
[Could I be wrong? But… there’s no being in existence who could manipulate me. Not even those ancient mind weavers would go unnoticed,] Solenne thought.
And of course, her thoughts were directly transferred to Rael, who had been doing nothing but lazing around inside her mind, watching her every move through what seemed like a giant theater screen.
Unsurprisingly, not having the one you love beside you for longer than two months sucked. It sucked so much, in fact, that he had manifested several images of Zafira in his own Mind realm to make sure he never forgot about her.
In a way, the only reason he was willing to go so far was because of her, and rightfully so. He didn’t want a being like Solenne to manipulate her.
Putting those thoughts aside, he moved on to other matters.
In the last 68 days, he had been actively blocking out thoughts of Rael Sutekh ever existing.
That applied to everyone he cared about, even the Depths, and in the end, quite a pleasing result unfolded.
The bitch is going to be on an ’I’m looking for Rael’ cooldown for at least a year or two, Rael thought with a smile.
He stumbled into a few hiccups at the start, namely, the Sketa Online logs. It was a separate interface, and it displayed the information of most of the players that were logged in. Their names, their affiliations and much more.
The logs had his name there, but every time Solenne glossed over those logs, Rael did something he only realized he could do in the spur of the moment.
<Delete Logs>
It was an option that had the ability to do something extraordinary.
Obviously, he could delete logs with it.
So he did. Each time Solenne scrolled, Rael carefully deleted the logs of anything done by those he knew or even himself.
The system broadcast about the Depths was gone, and a few pop-ups from Linlin, Zafira, and the others were also deleted.
Though, Premium Trickery: Death mentioned deleting all system stuff related to me, but I guess Solenne’s interface falls under some kind of different jurisdiction.
Even so, his hard work finally paid off.
After all, there were only 3 and a half months left until Zafira would regain her memories of him, so he was extremely eager for that.
Still…
I really need to get out of this place… how much money do I have now?
•—Balance: 311,451,175,944 Trell—•
It was a fair sum, and he wasn’t really sure how he was getting that much.
It said that I was removed from the country management system, so technically, those lands wouldn’t fall under my name… but…
Premium Greed [Ultimate-Unique] – You automatically claim 1% of all currency and experience gained by everyone in your controlled areas.
He might not be the king, but he did control those areas in a way. Maybe that was why he kept getting money.
But if it worked as intended, I would’ve gotten an extra 400 billion from the Demonic Lands, Rael thought with a sigh.
Of course, he also bought some new materials for his Premium Dungeon, which probably explained the recent income boost.
Even so, today was the day he planned to leave.
He just needed Solenne to either fall asleep or enter her avatar form. That was when she was the most vulnerable.
If he left now, while she was speaking with two of the Five Seats, he’d be caught instantly.
After all, a Grade 9 being was definitely no joke.
Anyhow, he sat back down in his makeshift mind chair and waited for Solenne and the others to blabber about his fake name.
Indeed, by using his Voice of Reason, he managed to regulate her thoughts to an extent. Instead of her recalling the name Rael Sutekh, she recalled… that.
But come on already… why is it taking them this long to put me behind them? Just move on… go conquer a world or something, Rael urged inwardly.
From what he gathered, this Silver City of hers was a replica of Heaven. She got it as a gift from one of the Archangels, whose name Rael couldn’t exactly catch.
Still, he did figure out how her Blazing Sun faction operated.
There were three main groups that existed in the Blazing Sun faction, excluding the higher authority like the Five Seats and Solenne’s Shadows, as well as Solenne herself.
The Solar Legions were the direct army under Solenne, carrying out all her orders to a T. The person Rael had possessed last time was one of those people.
Within the Solar Legions were the Blazing Sun Knight Brigade and the Defensive Moon Guard Brigade.
Then there was the obvious group, the religious fanatics who worship Solenne and the Five Seats.
From what I saw… the Blazing Sun Knight Brigade invades worlds, and then there are two people in charge of spreading the Blazing Sun religion across those invaded worlds, Rael thought. But I couldn’t exactly get their names. Solenne tends to not fantasize about her subordinates all that much.
And of course, there were a few groups, such as the Civilians, Exiles, and even Spies. But Rael only managed to catch a glimpse of those.
Alright, now I just need to wait until—
“Let’s settle this once and for all,” Solenne spoke up loudly. “Go into the Vault and fetch me the Magic Mirror. I will see for myself.”
“Yes, First Light,” Alcetas and Alene replied in unison and walked away.
But like a moth to a flame…
Vault?
