Chapter 3577: Medusa (43)
As soon as Hera left, Ning Shu couldn’t be bothered to act anymore. She crunched on the fruit and looked at Zeus. “You look awful right now.”
Zeus ignored Ning Shu. He felt that Hera was a total idiot. She wouldn’t listen to anything he said and even brought this woman here to spend day and night with him in the same prison cell. Hera clearly wanted him dead.
Taking his throne as the king of the gods wasn’t enough. She actually wanted to kill him.
Even if she wanted to find a woman to keep him company, she shouldn’t have chosen this one.
This was a ruthless woman who had killed Athena and Poseidon. Zeus felt his own life might be in danger, so he refrained from provoking Ning Shu.
Ning Shu cracked her neck, producing a series of popping sounds. Zeus was constantly whispering in Hera’s and the other gods’ ears about how much of a threat she was. He preached this threat theory every day to instigate more gods to stand against her. The most important thing right now was to take care of Zeus.
Zeus watched Ning Shu do her warm-up exercises. He kept a calm face, but he asked with a hint of inner panic, “What are you trying to do?”
Just as Ning Shu was about to make a move, Hera, who had supposedly left, reappeared.
Ning Shu: …
“I’m not doing anything. I’m just giving you a massage, a little rubdown.” Ning Shu reached out and squeezed Zeus’s shoulders. “Does that feel good? With your arms hanging like this, they’ll be ruined sooner or later. You need to keep your blood flowing.”
Zeus frowned. This woman was a total psycho!
Hera stayed to eavesdrop and didn’t leave, so Ning Shu asked Zeus again, “Does it feel good?”
“What are you plotting?”
Zeus really couldn’t figure out what Ning Shu was trying to do.
Regardless, she was just a crazy woman.
“Next time your sister comes, can you ask her for a divine fruit of eternal youth?” Ning Shu said. “Consider it a reward for how hard I’m working to take care of you.”
Hera: …
Zeus forced a dry scoff from the back of his throat!
Once Hera left, Ning Shu stopped the massage. She couldn’t understand what Hera was trying to do. Perhaps the goddess wanted to see what kind of relationship she had with Zeus.
Compared to trusting an outsider like her, Hera still trusted her own brother. After all, her brother was the one who maintained the rule of the divine pantheon.
Ning Shu decided to stroll around. This place was massive and held many prisoners. There were Titans and various enemies of Zeus. What if she accidentally released his enemies and they finished him off?
This place was incredibly dark. Everything looked hazy and completely unclear.
The entire area was shrouded in black clouds.
2333’s voice rang out in Ning Shu’s mind. “I’ve detected the fluctuations of a world origin here, but it’s very weak. Generally speaking, the fluctuations of a world origin aren’t this faint. It’s ambiguous, seeming like it but also not quite. Anyway, you shouldn’t get your hopes up.”
Ning Shu: “Oh!”
Ning Shu was quite happy to know that there was a world origin here. Although there was a chance it was a false alarm, there was also a chance it was real.
Ning Shu asked 2333, “What elemental attribute do you think this world origin might have?”
2333 thought for a moment before replying, “I don’t know. This fluctuation is simply too weak, so it might not even be a world origin at all. You really shouldn’t hold out much hope. When you get disappointed later, you’re just going to scold me again.”
Ning Shu: …
“I’ve noticed you’ve been acting like a white lotus lately, claiming that I scold you and acting like you’re the victim.” Ning Shu rolled her eyes. It seemed more like she was the one being scolded by 2333 most of the time.
“Fine, whatever you say goes.” 2333 scoffed. “You are so fucking hard to please.”
“Do you have to pick a fight with me the moment you show up?” Ning Shu continued walking. This place was incredibly dark and full of winding paths. Ning Shu felt like she was already lost and wouldn’t be able to find her way back to Zeus.
Furthermore, Ning Shu saw an absolutely massive Titan. The chains binding the Titan were enormous, piling up like mountains right in front of her. His snores echoed loudly through the air.
On top of that, he wasn’t wearing any clothes. He only used a gigantic piece of cloth to cover his unmentionables.
Ning Shu tiptoed away, following the direction 2333 pointed out. It grew darker and darker the further she walked until she couldn’t even see her own fingers in front of her face. She had no choice but to release her spiritual energy to explore her surroundings little by little.
Since it was so dark, could it be a dark-attribute world origin? If she could obtain a dark-attribute one, she would make a massive profit in this world.
Light and dark attributes weren’t as common as the five basic elements. The five elements were already hard enough to find, let alone light and dark.
Ning Shu communicated with 2333. “It’s so dark here. Is it possible that it’s a dark attribute?”
“Maybe, but the fluctuation is truly weak. It’s highly likely that something else is making this place so dark. Besides, this place is deep underground without any sunlight, so it’s perfectly normal for it to be pitch black.”
Ning Shu retreated, grabbed a burning torch from the corridor, and charged back into the darkness. However, she hadn’t gone far before the torch went out.
It was swallowed by the darkness. It didn’t just extinguish due to a lack of oxygen, and Ning Shu didn’t feel any sense of suffocation either.
If this continued, would she be swallowed by the darkness too?
Ning Shu gritted her teeth and kept walking anyway. Without a torch for illumination, she could only release her spiritual energy to perceive her surroundings. However, the darkness slowly crept in, and her perception range gradually shrank. The pure, unadulterated darkness was swallowing Ning Shu’s spiritual energy.
Ning Shu stopped in her tracks, caught in a bit of a dilemma. If she moved forward, her eyes couldn’t see anything, and even her spiritual energy was being devoured. Being completely blind and deaf to her surroundings was a bit too dangerous.
Ning Shu released a giant dragon made of spiritual energy to scout the way ahead, but it didn’t travel far before the darkness swallowed it whole.
“Take ten steps forward, then try turning left,” 2333 told Ning Shu. “I’m basing this on the fluctuations. Right now, we can only test the waters by walking.”
Nothing ventured, nothing gained. Ning Shu decided to risk it. She counted her steps and then turned left, acting completely like a blind person.
“Lift your foot. There are… let me count, 28 steps,” 2333 said.
Ning Shu: “Oh, pretty impressive.”
“What do you mean?” 2333 asked.
“What do you mean ‘what do I mean’?” Ning Shu realized there was a disconnect in her communication with 2333. He couldn’t even understand something so simple.
“I feel like you’re mocking me,” 2333 said.
Ning Shu lifted her foot and stepped onto the stairs. “I wasn’t mocking you. I was genuinely fucking complimenting you.”
2333 clicked its tongue noncommittally, clearly not believing Ning Shu’s words.
After counting 23 steps, Ning Shu stopped and stretched out her foot to feel her surroundings.
Ning Shu crouched down and felt around. Since no one could see her anyway, she might as well just crawl.
The ground beneath her hands was uneven and full of potholes. She also touched a stone made of some unknown material.
“This thing you’re touching has a bit of a world origin fluctuation, but it doesn’t seem to be a world origin itself,” 2333 said.
“Store it away,” Ning Shu said casually. Since she made the trip, she might as well reap some sort of reward.
