Chapter 3576: Medusa (42)
Chapter 3576: Medusa (42)
Hera brought Ning Shu before a bronze door. She opened the door and stepped into a palace hall.
It was pitch black all around. It took a while for Ning Shu’s eyes to adjust to the darkness, and even then, everything looked hazy. The place was also filled with the sound of wind, blowing rhythmically with every gust.
However, this was not the sound of wind at all. It was the sound of breathing. Three Titan giants were slumbering in this place.
“Younger brother, your older sister has come to see you.”
Following Hera’s words, the loud clanking of chains rang out.
Ning Shu saw that Zeus’s hands and feet were bound by chains. Even his midsection was tightly wrapped in iron links.
Zeus’s hair was a disheveled mess, and he looked incredibly wretched. He became extremely agitated upon seeing Hera, and when he spotted Ning Shu beside her, he grew completely frantic. Had the chains not held him back, Zeus would have lunged right at Ning Shu.
He looked as if he wanted to swallow Ning Shu alive.
Ning Shu hid behind Hera and asked fearfully, “Why has Zeus become a prisoner?”
Hera turned to look at her and actually smiled. “He is no longer the king of the gods. Should he still reside on Mount Olympus?”
Ning Shu instantly looked as if she had been struck by lightning.
“Am I supposed to stay in this place and keep Zeus company?” she asked, utterly dumbfounded.
“Mhm…” Hera hummed in acknowledgment.
Seeing Ning Shu act like this infuriated Zeus so much that he lunged forward, causing his chains to rattle loudly. “Hera, kill this woman! Listen to me, kill her! You cannot let this woman live!”
Ning Shu immediately piped up. “Stop pretending at a time like this. Putting on this act of intense hatred is useless now.”
She then turned to Hera and said, “I do not know him.”
Looking cold and noble, Hera said indifferently, “It is too late to say you do not know him now.”
Hera then spoke to Zeus. “It is quite lonely for you down here all by yourself. Since you kept harping on about her, I brought her here to keep you company.”
Zeus cursed profusely in his heart. He had wanted Hera to kill her so that this woman could not threaten the gods, but instead, she had brought her right to him.
Tied up like this, he was nothing more than a punching bag for this woman. Did his older sister really hate him this much?
Ning Shu looked absolutely awful. She turned to Hera and pleaded, “Since we are both women, do you truly have the heart to watch my youthful beauty rot away in this dark, sunless place? Moreover, you still have not given me a divine fruit of eternal youth.”
Hera replied, “I am fulfilling your wishes. I have even given my husband to you. Are you touched?”
Ning Shu: …
“Thank you for your immense kindness. If possible, I would much rather be gay with you,” Ning Shu said. She seemed to be on the verge of tears.
Hera walked over to Zeus and reached out to pat his shoulder, gently dusting off the dirt. “Younger brother, I know you cannot live without a woman by your side. Now, I have brought one over to keep you company. Just think of it as your older sister staying by your side. I am the ruler of the gods now and must govern them. Therefore, I do not have much free time to come see you. Just let this woman take my place and keep you company.”
Ning Shu fell completely silent.
Oh, older sister, are you sure you aren’t intentionally rubbing salt in your younger brother’s wounds?
The corners of Zeus’s mouth twitched. His golden hair hung messily over his face, making him look incredibly miserable. He no longer possessed the majestic bearing of the king of the gods. Stripped of his formidable strength and absolute authority, much of Zeus’s charm had faded away.
“Sister, if you do not kill this woman, you will regret it. You will absolutely regret it,” Zeus panted through gritted teeth. If this woman were left here with him, his life would be in grave danger.
“Do not worry, Brother. She will stay by your side forever. If need be, I can grant her eternal life so she can accompany you for all eternity. How does that sound?” Hera looked the picture of a doting sister and a tolerant wife.
Ning Shu waved her hands frantically. “Do not grant me eternal life! I do not want to be here! I do not know him, so please do not leave me here!”
Seeing Ning Shu act this way, Zeus let out a muffled groan and nearly coughed up a mouthful of golden blood.
What a hypocritical and pretentious woman.
“Do not grant her eternal life. She will become a great enemy of the gods. Older sister, why do you refuse to believe me?” Zeus pleaded earnestly.
Zeus truly felt mentally exhausted. He was so exhausted that he felt like he could drop dead at any moment.
And most importantly, if this woman stayed here, he would be in grave danger.
Zeus had no intention of dying right now. He was still plotting to turn the tables.
Anyone capable of killing Athena and Poseidon could definitely kill him now that he was tied up and completely weaponless.
Hera’s actions were simply vicious. She was consumed by jealousy and malice.
Hera smoothed Zeus’s hair for him. “When your older sister has free time, she will come visit you.”
“Take good care of him.” Hera flicked her sleeves and walked away. On her way out, she added layer after layer of restrictive seals and chains to the bronze door.
The moment Hera left, Ning Shu and Zeus were left staring blankly at each other. Aside from the hurricane-like breathing of the slumbering Titans, the air was terrifyingly quiet.
Zeus shifted his body, causing the chains binding him to rattle loudly.
Ning Shu sat on the ground and looked at the wretched Zeus. “How did you end up looking so miserable?”
“And whose fault do you think that is?” Zeus’s eyes were bloodshot. Seeing his enemy made his blood boil with rage.
Ning Shu sent out her spiritual consciousness and discovered that Hera had not gone far.
“Why are you blaming everything on me? Besides, you were the one who said I was the most beautiful girl and that Poseidon was unworthy of me,” Ning Shu said with a shrug. She pulled out a piece of fruit, wiped it on her skirt, and took a loud, crunchy bite.
Ning Shu found the fruit in this world to be incredibly sweet. Even the wild fruit was juicy and high in sugar. She figured it was probably due to the lack of pollution and the abundance of spiritual energy in the air.
“What nonsense are you spouting?” Zeus realized that he and this crazy woman were on completely different wavelengths. They were not even talking about the same thing.
“If you had the guts to do it, you should have the guts to admit it!” Zeus glared at Ning Shu. “You killed Poseidon and Athena.”
“Oh my, wasn’t it you who killed them? Why are you trying to pin the blame on me? Could it be that you have some secret plan to snatch back your position as the king of the gods? Well, alright then. I killed Poseidon and Athena,” Ning Shu said casually.
Zeus closed his eyes. He did not want to look at this woman right now.
With his hands bound and hoisted up by the chains, Zeus was forced to remain standing. Because the chains were so short, it was completely impossible for him to even sit or lie down.
“Um, can you let me out?” Ning Shu asked Zeus.
“Shut up!” Zeus snapped his eyes open and roared in utter exasperation.
Ning Shu sighed heavily. “My youthful beauty is going to rot away in this dark, sunless place. Just thinking about it makes me feel so indignant.”
Zeus: What a lunatic.
Ning Shu babbled incessantly about her youthful beauty while weeping and wailing with immense resentment, complaining about how she did not want to stay here.
Outside the bronze door, Hera finally turned and left.
