Chapter 3098: Sulfuric Acid Will Corrode Your Flesh. That Soap Won’t

“Sulfuric acid will corrode your flesh. That soap won’t,” Ning Shu said.

Gong Rong: …

“Wash up. If you don’t, I’ll do it for you. Clean yourself thoroughly—we’ve got serious business to handle afterward.” Ning Shu kept a stern face, though she was burning with anxiety inside.

Now that they’d made it back to the city, she actually felt even more on edge.

The entrustor hadn’t even graduated from university yet. After going away for so long without giving any news, she didn’t know whether the entrustor would even still be able to continue studying at the university.

But that was the least of her problems right now. Her life was hanging by a thread. If she died, she wouldn’t even have the chance to think about her future.

Since this was a small motel, likely catering to couples, the room had a distinctly suggestive setup. The bathroom’s glass was frosted.

Ning Shu stared directly at Gong Rong’s alluring silhouette as he washed his legs, arms… even his family jewels.

She turned her gaze away with a deadpan expression. Her eyes burned from the sight.

“Are you still not done? How long are you planning to stay in there?” Ning Shu had never seen a man take this long to shower.

He was probably scrubbing between every single toenail.

Ning Shu felt like she lived rougher than a man.

“I’m almost done,” he replied,

Ning Shu: …

She picked up the TV remote and turned on the television. A news broadcast was playing.

It was about the head of the SR Conglomerate who had been kidnapped. They’d even released a photo, calling on the general masses and public informers to help identify the suspect.

Then came the news that Gong Rong’s younger sister, Gong Fu, had stepped in during the crisis and taken over SR Conglomerate.

Just then, Gong Rong stepped out, bathed in the steam from inside the bathroom. He looked at the TV screen, smiled, and said, “Fu’er is doing great.”

Ning Shu raised an eyebrow but said nothing. Gong Fu was clearly applying psychological pressure to her as his kidnapper.

Now that the case was public knowledge, any emotionally unstable abductor might panic, lash out in anger, or even harm the hostage.

And yet Gong Rong had the audacity to praise her.

Was it because he didn’t have much time left to live that he’d grown utterly fearless?

She needed to get rid of this hot potato as soon as possible.

Once Gong Rong finished showering, Ning Shu brought him to make contact with his family.

They arrived at a public telephone booth. Ning Shu inserted a coin and asked, “What’s your home number?”

Gong Rong looked down at the top of her head. “You’re calling my house?”

“I have to save my mom. I’m using you in exchange. Quit stalling. What’s the number?”

Gong Rong recited a string of numbers, and Ning Shu dialed it.

It sounded like a housekeeper answered the phone. Ning Shu immediately said she wanted to speak with their household’s second miss—Gong Fu.

There was a soft tone from the other end, likely a call transfer to Gong Fu’s room.

“Hello.” Gong Fu’s voice was icy and distant, cold enough to make Ning Shu’s ears ache through the phone line.

Ning Shu coughed. “Yeah, it’s me. Do you remember me?”

“Who are you?”

Ning Shu: …

“One of the people who hung out with your brother. We even went on that four-day sea cruise together,” she said.

“Xu Xin, what have you done to my brother?” Gong Fu demanded.

Ning Shu shot back, “What have you done to my mother?”

Gong Fu gave a cold, wordless laugh. “What do you think?”

“If you dare lay a hand on my mom, I—I…” Ning Shu caught herself before saying something incriminating and handed the phone to Gong Rong instead.

“Talk properly,” she warned while shooting him a vicious glare.

He took the phone and gently said, “Fu’er.”

The way he said it was so soft it gave Ning Shu goosebumps. Disgusting!

“I’m fine, don’t worry. Do whatever you think you should. I’m doing quite well. I’m thinking of traveling around a bit. Take good care of SR Conglomerate,” Gong Rong said.

Ning Shu nodded. Well said—this way, she wasn’t a kidnapper anymore.
