Chapter 747: Dark Elves At Siege
Chapter 747: Dark Elves At Siege
The dark energy particles in the air even make the middle of the day shadowy in the Shadow Star, and over a large city, a rain of bright colors covers the sky.
While these bright colors could be mistaken for a spectacle, they are actually magical attacks from various mages both inside and outside the city.
The sounds of swords, lightning, and explosions can be heard for miles as two armies of Dark Elves fiercely clash.
One side is trying to break the city’s defenses, while the other is defending it in a siege.
The entire city, not counting the outer areas beyond the great wall, spans just over a mile in extent, and its architecture consists of tall towers made of dark wood.
There are also flags everywhere with a very dark blue raven; this is also the color of the emblems on the armor of the army defending the city, while the attacking army’s symbol is a dark green snake.
The green army is assaulting the city’s defenses from all sides, but the blue army’s magical barriers hold firm.
However, the green army is focusing its strongest attacks on the city’s front, trying to break down the barriers and cross the gate.
Despite the blue army holding up well, they are outnumbered, and more green soldiers arrive each day, making it clear they can’t hold out for long.
Right now, the battle reaches a climax with the elite of the green army attacking the best soldiers of the blue army at the city’s grand gate.
*CLANG*
Two swords collide, making more noise than any other.
"Arghh..." On one side, a beautiful Dark Elf lady with dark grey hair dressed in blue pushes her short sword against the blade of her adversary.
"DAMN!" On the other side, another Dark Elf lady, but much younger and with black hair, tries desperately to overcome the lady in blue.
These two women are respectively the ruler of that city and one of the leaders of the invading army, so all the soldiers around them make room for their fight.
The woman with grey hair is focused and serious, but the young woman with black hair smiles provocatively. "You seem tired, Ludmila... this war does not stop for an old woman!"
"I can still kill you before my end, Svetlana," Ludmila responds calmly while also watching every move of her opponent.
Svetlana, on the other hand, can’t see anything clearly due to her anxiety to kill her opponent, so she grits her teeth and gathers all the power she has in her sword.
The black blade glows with the incredible power of the eighth layer of the Immortal Realm, a beautiful soul weapon indeed.
Ludmila feels the pressure forcing her back, and although her grey sword is also a soul weapon, its power is a layer inferior to Svetlana’s.
That difference is enough to give Svetlana a significant advantage, and there’s also her armor, which despite being quite minimal, is enchanted with powerful magic that protects her body.
These advantages are why Ludmila is on the defensive while trying to find a way to breach her enemy’s defenses.
"I will kill you, old woman!" Svetlana screams and forces Ludmila’s sword back with even more strength.
*Whoosh*
Ludmila uses Svetlana’s brute force against her by skillfully slipping the blade and making the black-haired elf strike the ground, creating a large hole.
"What!?" Svetlana is confused as a cloud of dust rises, obstructing her vision.
This dust is being created by Ludmila, who has an Earth affinity, and the clever elf quickly moves around her adversary.
But instead of launching attacks that would be repelled by Svetlana’s armor, Ludmila swiftly pulls out magic seals from her storage ring and throws them at her opponent.
Svetlana quickly notices this and rapidly spins her sword with force, creating waves of energy that dissipate the dust cloud.
"Old fox tricks?" The young elf taunts as she rushes towards her opponent with all her fury.
*BAM* *CLANG!!*
The swords clash again with several powerful strikes from each.
In fact, Ludmila is clearly more skilled with the sword, but Svetlana compensates with greater speed and strength.
The fight seems balanced, but Ludmila remains defensive while casting more seals on Svetlana whenever possible.
Most of those seals are broken by the young elf’s attacks or miss the target, but the few that stick to Svetlana’s armor rapidly corrode its defenses.
Blinded by the heat of battle, Svetlana doesn’t notice what’s happening until it’s too late.
"What?? My body... it’s heavy??" The young elf feels her movements becoming much slower and only then notices her armor covered in seals.
Ludmila remains serious, but even she can’t help but sigh in relief and even crack a slight smile. "Seems this old lady still has a few good tricks up the sleeve..."
"I’ll kill you!!" Svetlana uses even more strength to compensate for her added weight and charges at her opponent again.
Ludmila already appeared faster than the young elf due to her superior swordsmanship, making the difference even more evident to all.
She easily deflects all of Svetlana’s strikes. "Seems like you’re going to disappoint that fake Queen..."
"No!!" Svetlana screams as her body becomes increasingly heavy. "I will sever your head and take it to our true Queen!!"
"Oh?" Ludmila would like to taunt the young elf further, but she can’t waste time, so she jumps behind her opponent and places her sword at Svetlana’s throat.
"YOU!!" Svetlana tries to fight, but her strength is drained from exerting herself with the added weight of the magic seals.
She still trusts in the protection of her armor, but then Ludmila starts to press the grey blade against her neck, and the barrier of her armor begins to crack like glass.
"I’m sorry, girl..." Ludmila truly dislikes killing, especially a young Dark Elf with so much potential. "But you chose the wrong side."
"NO!!!" Svetlana thinks this is her end, and in the darkest moment of her life, she trembles in fear.
Everyone watches the scene intently, soldiers in blue and green, and no one dares to get in Ludmila’s way.
But just before the young elf has her head severed, a figure appears in the sky.
*Whoosh*
This is a Dark Elf wearing armor as bright as jade green; his hair is also black and his appearance is certainly impressive.
He quickly summons a shining brown bow with one hand and in the other, a magical arrow materializes, a powerful soul weapon.
The man pulls back the bowstring and shoots the magical arrow towards Ludmila’s head.
*Whoosh*
Due to the short distance of several meters, the arrow quickly reaches its target, but Ludmila had anticipated such a move and places Svetlana in front.
Seeing this, the male elf quickly gestures with his hand, and the magic arrow explodes before hitting its target.
*Boom*
Another dust cloud rises, clearly intensified by Ludmila’s magic, as she rolls away from the male elf.
He rapidly shoots another arrow that explodes in the air, clearing part of the dust cloud.
Then he sees Svetlana getting up while Ludmila retreats to join her soldiers.𝑓𝑟𝑒𝘦𝓌𝑒𝑏𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝘭.𝒸𝘰𝑚
"You’re running away!?!" He shouts arrogantly.
Ludmila becomes focused again, silently analyzing her new adversary.
Meanwhile, Svetlana manages to stand and starts removing the magic seals while smiling at the male elf. "Thank you, Artem... you arrived just in time-"
"Shut up, you useless!" Artem shouts at Svetlana. "You failed to kill an old bitch much weaker than you, incompetent."
Svetlana lowers her head in shame; she leads the army in partnership with Artem, so his disappointment leaves her disappointed in herself.
Artem shakes his head in pity for Svetlana, then casts an angry look at Ludmila. "No matter, I’ll take care of this bitch and end this once and for all."
"Be careful," Svetlana speaks in a worried tone. "She has these stupid seals and probably more tricks..."
"Don’t worry-" Artem begins to speak but quickly summons a magic arrow and shoots towards Ludmila.
His intention was to catch her off guard, but the experienced elf had already been channeling a barrier with her soldiers since she joined them.
The barrier blocks the arrow, but Artem summons more and more arrows, bombarding the barrier with them.
His power level is a layer above Svetlana’s, in the ninth layer of the Immortal Realm, and even Ludmila’s barrier combined with her soldiers can’t withstand such attacks for long.
In fact, Artem doesn’t spare any energy and shoots so many arrows at the barrier that cracks begin to appear all over it.
More blue soldiers try to assist Ludmila, but the green soldiers attack them.
The end seems imminent, but Ludmila still has a calm face despite her emotions. She tries to think of anything, but only fleeing to the city seems efficient, and that would be like accepting defeat.
When she can’t find any effective trick for such a situation and no strategy seems good, all that’s left is to pray for a miracle...
*WHOOSH!!!*
Bringing a whirlwind of wind, a mysterious figure descends from the sky and lands on the battlefield with such force that it creates a crater and a natural cloud of dust.
"HUH?!" Seeing the dust, Artem thinks it’s another one of Ludmila’s tricks.
But she is just as surprised by this, and even more shocked when the dust quickly settles, revealing a tall man with large wings and horns.
"It seems I’ve arrived just in time!" Lucien smiles at both Ludmila and Svetlana.
Lust quickly materializes her body next to him and smiles confidently. "Meet your devil, Elves!"
