Chapter 123
Hours later…
Their weekend had been spent with a lot of drama and crying. When Shen Xue came back with the twins, the two were already passed out in the backseat of his car. Both brothers took the twins and tucked them on their beds while Lu Xinyi was busy in the kitchen, preparing a quick dinner for the three of them.
Shen Yi had finished showering and came down to the kitchen where his wife was. She didn’t notice him yet, with her back at him as she talked with someone on the phone. He silently admired her body as she took one of his shirt again and paired it with running shorts.
He was about to open his mouth to greet Lu Xinyi, but she had spoken first in a low tone.
“I miss you too, dear.” She laughed, “Ahh, I know. Sorry, sorry. I promise I’ll find time to meet you soon.”
Pause.
“Yes, I’m married, but what’s wrong with that? He can’t possibly force me to stay at home, no?”
Pause.
“Don’t worry, he doesn’t know.” She stirred the sauce on the bowl and smiled.
Pause.
“Yes, yes. I miss you, too. Just give me a call when you’re back again, okay? Sorry, I wasn’t able to meet you last week. I was extremely busy.”
Shen Yi stepped a back a little, not certain if he had heard his wife correctly. She wasn’t having an affair, right? Not when she just opened up a part of her life to him earlier, not when she declared her love for him in front of the graves of her parents.
Lu Xinyi turned her head, seeing him standing at the doorway. Her face lit up in response. With a hushed goodbye, she hung up the call.
“Are you hungry?” she asked. He sauntered to her and took a glance of the meat she was cooking.
“Very,” he replied, giving her a passionate kiss before he walked to the table.
Shen Yi sat and gave her a thoughtful look. He didn’t have the nerve to ask, which was strange for him. He wanted to know who was she talking to, but the idea of her cheating on him bothered him. His wife wasn’t a woman that would cheat on his man. No, after being betrayed by her previous boyfriend, Lu Xinyi wouldn’t do such a vile thing like cheating on him. He tapped his fingers on the table in deep thought.
No. He trusted his wife. She would never do anything to break his trust. Whoever she was talking to must be very close to her. It was no point worrying about someone when she could only smile like this and made him feel that there was no one but him.

Three days later… ρꪖꪕᦔꪖꪕꪫꪣꫀꪶ
“I’m going out.”
Shen Yi looked up from his laptop, quirking a brow at his wife. It was already passed nine in the evening, and twins were already sleeping. Lu Xinyi had a black coat on her, with her hair done up, only leaving some locks to frame her face. She had a sexy strap-on shoes on her feet.
“With whom?”
“With Xiulan and Yuan Jin.” Lu Xinyi shrugged.
His eyes narrowed at the mention of a guy’s name.
“How long you will be out?”
“I don’t know. Why? Don’t you want me to go?” she said with a grin.
“…”
“I’ll try not to keep you waiting, but will give you a call if I need someone to pick me up,” she said with a wink, closing the door behind her.
Shen Yi stared at the close door for several seconds before he decided to pick up his phone and call his younger brother.
“Xue, call Madam Jin. I need someone to look after the twins tonight.”
—
“Bro, you got issues. Trust issues.” Shen Xue sat in the passenger seat of his brother’s car, wondering why he was there instead of playing online games with his friends.
Shen Yi shot him a scathing look.
“I trust my wife, not the men who’ll try to hit up on her” he muttered.
He supposed Shen Xue was right. He shouldn’t be stalking his own wife like this. What would happen if Lu Xinyi found out he was following her?
Ahh, he didn’t dare to know. What was important for him was Lu Xinyi wouldn’t get into trouble when she wasn’t in his sight.
“Then hire a bodyguard for her, rather than following her like a dog for fuck’s sake.” Shen Xue threw his arms in the air and sighed. Why the heck he was dragged into this anyway?
