Chapter 2269 - 2278: I Must Be With You Too
Chapter 2269: Chapter 2278: I Must Be With You Too
"Baron Lawrence, I know you don’t like me interacting with Lyle Westbrook. I’ve tried my best to avoid it. But in this matter, I don’t think I did anything wrong," Enna Clark said calmly, "I haven’t done anything beyond the boundaries of friendship. I know you’d be mad, and I did consider whether to hide it from you. But no matter what, since I received that call, I couldn’t just ignore it."
In the darkness, the man grasping her wrist tightened his grip slightly, "So what are you saying? You knew I’d be angry but still cared for him?"
Enna met his eyes, with simmering anger, without flinching, "If I were to ignore someone who saved Gigi just because I knew you’d be angry, I can’t do it."
If it were just because Baron Lawrence was displeased with her communicating with Lyle Westbrook, and she heartlessly hung up the phone knowing Lyle’s situation wasn’t good, pretending nothing happened, she wouldn’t be herself.
"Baron Lawrence, if it were you, would you ignore it?"
Didn’t he once say that he owed Lyle Westbrook a favor, and whenever Lyle needed it, he could ask him?
Enna Clark posed this question forthrightly, causing the man standing tall to press his thin lips tightly.
Using the hand he had released, Enna grabbed his hand back, her eyes bright and her voice gentle, "You wouldn’t ignore it either, would you? So likewise, how could I?"
"..."
Baron Lawrence’s brows tightened and then relaxed, his dark eyes fixed on her. Although flames of anger still danced in his eyes, Enna Clark’s reasonable explanation eased the suffocating discomfort in his chest.
His tense jawline relaxed slightly. He was just about to take Enna Clark’s cool hand and tuck it into the bedcovers.
Suddenly, his gaze locked onto the faint bruise around her slender wrist, instantly narrowing like needle points!
Though the bruise on Enna’s wrist had faded considerably, it was still faintly visible as the mark of a man’s grip.
Whoever had griped her was obvious!
The flames in his chest that had just eased showed signs of flaring up again. He pressed his thin lips tightly, diverted his gaze from Enna, and said coldly, "I wouldn’t care!"
"...Liar!"
Before Enna could refute him, the one who was holding her hand and restraining her let go and turned over to lay beside her.
Though his jaw remained tight, he reached out with his large hand, pulling her into his arms.
One hand pressed against the back of her head as if restraining himself, he spoke in a hoarse voice, "Enna Clark, let’s let this slide this time. But there won’t be a next time! Next time, no matter what it is, you must tell me. As long as you need to go, I must go with you!"
She got one thing right.
Simply because Lyle Westbrook saved Gigi twice, she couldn’t possibly leave that man without aid.
If she truly ignored it completely, she wouldn’t be Enna Clark.
He could compromise, allowing her to intervene if necessary. However, there’s a premise: he must be present!
"Next time, if I can’t reach you by phone, don’t bother getting out of bed! However many calls I make, that’s how many days you won’t leave bed!"
He couldn’t bear to hurt her, nor to scold her. He certainly wouldn’t send her off to a Desolate Place like Scott Harris, as that would only punish himself.
He could only use the simplest and most straightforward method to make her understand how to keep her distance from other men.
