Chapter 2268 - 2277: The Person You Went to See Was Lyle Westbrook?
Chapter 2268: Chapter 2277: The Person You Went to See Was Lyle Westbrook?
Enna Clark’s heart skipped two beats; the intuition of a small animal told her that he was issuing a warning!
Warning her not to continue any further.
If she continued, he might lose control of his temper.
Enna knew this man too well. She pressed her lips together; rather than seeing him suppress himself like this, pretending to be calm and mature, she preferred to see his true side, even if that truth came with an emotional outburst.
"Hmm."
Lightning seemed to flash in Baron Lawrence’s eyes, the whole person shifted from restraint to a sternness like an approaching storm, "Are you sure?"
"I’m sure."
As soon as Enna finished speaking, her chin was grabbed by him, followed by his explosive questioning ringing in her ears, "Who called you? What friend? Why didn’t you answer my call back then? Why was your phone out of service? Why did you let Edward lie? Why didn’t you return my call immediately after the signal was restored?"
"Didn’t you ask me to ask? Enna Clark."
"Speak."
Enna had imagined his outburst, but she didn’t expect him to be this angry. His handsome face was livid, and even his temples were throbbing non-stop.
"What friend? Which friend was so important that you reached the entrance of the Lawrence Headquarters, yet walked away? Don’t tell me it was Olivia Lewis! Olivia isn’t in Country W today, she went for an interview."
Nor was it Emily or Tiffany Clifford.
Emily isn’t in Country W, she went back to Linton City with Rupert Harris.
As for Tiffany, she just boarded a plane today, during the hours she was missing, Tiffany should have been on the plane.
Unless this woman has turned into Superman, she couldn’t have been with Tiffany.
So, who was the friend she mentioned?
Baron Lawrence already had an answer in mind. Precisely because he vaguely suspected, the unnamed fire in his chest couldn’t be suppressed from erupting.
He had already promised Edward to try his best to control himself. Yet this woman insisted on courting disaster and had to tell him this.
Baron Lawrence tightened his grip on her wrist, nearly crushing Enna Clark’s wrist bone, gritting his teeth, "Was it Lyle Westbrook you went to see?"
Only Lyle Westbrook would prompt her to not immediately call him back upon seeing his missed call.
And only Lyle Westbrook would cause Edward to warn him to control his emotions and not hurt Enna Clark under any circumstances.
Though he desperately ignored the obvious answer, why did she have to hold on and not let go!
Did she think that by being with Lyle Westbrook, he could generously take it as if she were simply with a friend?
Not to mention that he now knew they once had an arranged marriage agreement, just the fact that Lyle Westbrook liked her and even confessed to her, he couldn’t be generous!
The fact that he hadn’t killed that man was the greatest restraint and generosity of his life!
"Was it Lyle Westbrook?" Rationality told him not to ask anymore, but Enna Clark had already opened Pandora’s box and released the devil.
Enna Clark’s wrist was gripped painfully, her breathing slightly heavier, but she remained calm, softly saying, "Yes."
Before the man exploded, she said ahead, "The call I received was from his bodyguard, saying his condition was very bad. He begged me to go over. I had no ulterior motives, I like you, it’s evident from our marriage. I went only because Lyle Westbrook really helped me a lot. I could set aside everything he did for me, but he saved Gigi, and not just once, he saved her life multiple times. I can’t possibly act as if that never happened, can I?"
