Chapter 1796: Grand Dao’s Web of Entanglement
Chapter 1796: Grand Dao’s Web of Entanglement
Wang Wei calmly nodded before asking," The Soul Chaos Demon God — he’s the one who interfered in my fight, right? Is he one of you?"
"That’s right."
"I’m guessing this was some kind of test."
"Not just a test, but a learning opportunity."
Wang Wei paused as a realization dawned on him: "No wonder I was able to discover such a brilliant method of fusing both the Qi Refining Saint Will and the Body Refining Saint Will."
"As the chosen Holy Son, you have the right to the best resources," Mengyunjun calmly stated.
Wang Wei did not take these words seriously—at least for now. "I’m confused. Isn’t this world only practice Body Refining?" The Saint Will version of Qi Refiner would require immense knowledge, and even a high-level Qi-refining civilization would be required to devise such a method. Of course, it is possible that it appeared after the Primordial and Divine Beings descended on this timeline. Still, the fusion of the two Saint Wills revealed a masterpiece that would require countless yuan epochs even for Saints.
"I think you’ve misunderstood something about our civilization," Mengyunjun calmly explained. "We are only pure body refiners until the Primal Saint. And unlike you guys, we prefer to condense the Flesh Quintessence first, followed by the soul. Most people will start practicing soul methods after becoming 5-star primals and even focus on studying the laws and their Dao."
"So, you guys don’t walk a pure Essence Path of condensing the fifth and sixth gate?"
"Only two people have walked the path you spoke of," Mengyunjun calmly stated before sneering. "And even that bastard Hundunxi only did it after seeing how powerful Pangu was. Others have tried, but only a few could open the 5th gate, and no one has successfully opened the sixth Gate."
"I see," Wang Wei nodded. "But if what you said is true, it makes no sense for the rules of this world to be so suppressing to non-Essence Paths." He always thought this world was a pure body-refining civilization, but if that wasn’t true, the world’s design was too poor.
"It’s not out of choice," Mengyunjun sighed. "After the two leaders created the world and disappeared, the rules started to change because they themselves walked the pure body refining path. Luckily, Saints can still break those rules and create environments that allow the other paths to have a bit of space for development."
"The existence of Saints is like a virus; they can naturally infect things around them or even people connected to them," Wang Wei thought.
"Speaking of, what happened to the two leaders? Are they alive?"
"You will represent Lord Pangu to settle an eon of karmic debt," Mengyunjun calmly stated. "By then, you’ll have your answer."
Wang Wei groaned softly. "Has the Primordial Holy Land already taken Lin Fan?"
"As soon as he arrived," Mengyunjun nodded.
"When is the battle? Do I need to kill him, or is defeat alright?"
"Why are you asking? You don’t seem like the sentimental type."
"Lin Fan and I can be considered acquaintances, but more importantly, I promised his wife to help find him," Wang Wei explained.
"Defeat is fine," Mengyunjun replied, but the man had a strange look that Wang Wei didn’t like. "As for the battle’s date, we’ve agreed to about 5 yuan epochs from now."
"Very well," Wang Wei nodded.
"Any more questions?"
"I have two more, but one of them, I don’t know whether I should ask."
"Then, don’t."
"That’s fine as well," Wang Wei nodded.
Mengyunjun secretly shook his head; he found no pleasure in controlling the conversation when speaking to this man. "You want to ask about our existence, don’t you?"
"That’s right," Wang Wei nodded. "Even Primordial Saints, as long as they have a deep enough foundation, can control their alternate selves throughout the Infinite Trichiliocosm. As a result, most versions of the Chaos Demon Gods throughout the multiverse are only fantasies or projections of their Primordial self. So, what makes you guys so special?"
Mengyunjun looked him in the eyes with a smile. "Instead of answering, why don’t you tell me what you’ve deduced?"
Wang Wei frowned, pondering whether he should say anything. However, he realized this may be a great opportunity to learn some valuable knowledge. In the future, this knowledge might be crucial to him, and, in a worst-case scenario, he can use it to exchange with the Erudite Duchess.
"The answer — while looking complicated on the surface — is actually simple at its core: either Pangu or Grand Dao is responsible for this."
"Oh? Why these two? Why not Hundunxi? Or anyone else for that matter."
"Most of you were locked up until recently in the Primordial Timeline, so I doubt you would have the power or even access to the Infinite Trichiliocosm to set up such an elaborate scheme," Wang Wei explained.
"But there could be other people involved — no Chaos Demon Gods."
"True, but that’s unlikely," Wang Wei shook his head. "Grand Dao considered Pangu a taboo. Anyone — even other Grand Dao Saints — who tried to approach or learn from him would face her wrath. So, while this is possible, it’s not very likely."
"I didn’t know the leader was such a controversial individual in the primordial timeline," Mengyunjun smiled.
"Did this man not really know what’s going on with his original timeline, or is he just pretending?" Wang Wei thought.
"Continued. Why those two?"
"It all comes down to Lord Pangu’s supposed ’death,’" Wang Wei said, using quotation marks for the word death. "So, my theory is that your existence was the result of Pangu using other means to try to revive himself, or Grand Dao is not convinced of his death. So, she created these real third-step Pangu as bait, hoping the one from the Primordial Timeline would revive his consciousness in one of those bodies."
Wang Wei only stated the most superficial part of his theory. Pangu is not stupid, so how could he fall for such an obvious setup? Grand Dao is even more cunning, so how could she only created such a simple plan? Taking this into account, the only other explanation is that Grand Dao has completely cut off Pangu’s other methods of revival, forcing him to use these alternate selves.
But is this the extent of Grand Dao’s plan? Wang Wei would be a fool to believe an almost omnipotent and omniscient being would only have such a level of wisdom. And after analyzing everything he has experienced from a different perspective with this theory as the basis, he finally saw some clues.
Grand Dao chose Timeline NP89076H especially after Kong acquired the memories of his alternative self. Many people have been asking for a while: why this timeline? The obvious answer is it’s the one with the Reverse Black Stone, but Wang Wei didn’t believe that was the only consideration. Another consideration is this secret realm.
The Chaos Demon Gods have just been released from their prison, and all of them want nothing more than to recuperate their strength as soon as possible. And what’s the best way to do so? Absorb their counterparts of this timeline. Once that’s done, these people will never escape Grand Dao’s palm for the rest of their lives.
A flaw in this theory is how vastly different these Chaos Demon Gods are from those in the Primordial Timeline. In such a situation, the Primordial Beings have no chance, but Wang Wei already took this into account. The final result between these two alternate creations does not matter.
The final winner will become Grand Dao’s palm. The final winner has no choice but to take the Primordial Being identity because that’s the only timeline that allows True Transcendence. So, as long as any of these Chaos Demon Gods have ambitions, they have no choice but to compete and swallow their counterparts, take the primary identity of a Primordial Being, and return "home" to pursue further cultivation.
"I was thinking that this secret realm would be difficult to find, but if I’m right, Grand Dao will definitely make access to it easily accessible to the Chaos Demon Gods," Wang Wei contemplated. "And not just this timeline. Every timeline that does not contain projections of these Chaos Demon Gods will become bait for Grand Dao to plot against them."
Wang Wei was a bit excited. If that’s true, he could plot ahead. The Heavenly Court has already captured a few Chaos Demon Gods. Maybe he could find a few of these rare timelines by releasing and secretly following them. The resources and knowledge contained in these timelines would be unimaginable.
"So, which is the truth?" Wang Wei asked. Of these two theories, he sides more with the Grand Dao. The chances of Pangu scheming all of this would be too small compared to Grand Dao being the mastermind.
"I don’t know."
"You don’t know or you won’t tell me?"
"Both," Mingyunjun smiled. "What you discuss is taboo for all of us. If it were someone else, they would have already attacked you."
"Then, I must thank the Supreme Elder for his magnanimity," Wang Wei nodded.
