Journey of the Fate Destroying Emperor

Chapter 1795: Holy Son

Chapter 1795: Holy Son

"Who knew I had a soft spot?" Wang Wei thought as he teleported away. After living so long, he has grown indifferent to people not related to him. Their life, rise, prosperity, suffering, and death meant nothing to him. He could stop and have a pleasant conversation, and maybe make a beneficial deal, but everything else did not matter. But now, it seemed there was still a dormant soft spot.

"Being human is not necessarily a bad thing," Wang Wei analyzed. "The power of Saint is so overwhelming that it removes them from reality, making it easier for them to be cold and indifferent. I never thought about it before, but Maitreya’s kind heart is a testament to how much of her humanity she has conserved after so many years of absolute power."

Many people — especially other Saints — might view Maitreya’s kindness as a weakness, and maybe even a sign of stupidity. But after this brief experience with the boy, Wangchen, and his reaction to it, he realized the preciousness of such kindness. Right now, he has only lost that bit of humanity toward strangers, but if he doesn’t watch out, it’s only a matter of time before that indifference extends to his wife, family, friends, and even his sect.

A cool feeling rushed from Wang Wei’s head before spreading throughout his body. His Dao Heart had a small improvement. If not for his missing parents, it would have reached perfection. "Mom, Dad — I hope you’re alright wherever you are." As he gazed at the sky, Wang Wei saw, for a moment, the faces of his parents in the clouds, smiling at him.

The benefit of cultivation is that he can remember their faces and voices after so long, but the warmth of their presence cannot be remembered. Whether it was his mother’s gentleness or his father’s sense of security, he could not feel them, no matter how much he reviewed his memories.

Wang Wei exhaled to rein in his emotions. Now that his karma has been fulfilled, it’s time to go on his way. During the journey, Wang Wei and the Fate Shadow Guard have secretly extended the spatial network, meaning it should only take about a month to return to the cave. However, as Wang Wei was about to take the secret Transmission Array to teleport to the nearest hidden base, something unexpected happened.

Numerous pillars of light broke the ground, heading directly to the base that was located more than a million miles underground. The lights tore apart all the arrays — including the Heaven Deception Array — before landing. Everything happened so fast that even Wang Wei didn’t have time to react.

By the time he realized what was happening, he was surrounded by a million army, with the lowest cultivation being a 1-Star Fiendgod. If that were all, he wouldn’t panic, but the three generals or leaders of this army made his heart palpitate.

"Three Saints, based on [Aura Detection Spell], the weakest should at least have 8-pillars," Wang Wei analyzed. It took him a lot of effort to develop this detection spell for Saints. And he was only successful by combining the power of his Saint Dao Heart with Maitreya’s effort, allowing him to record the auras of Saints from the lowest to the highest level.

Wang Wei sat cross-legged on a cushion, calmly watching this terrifying army. Bodies of the Fate Shadow Guards lay everywhere, but he ignored them. "The void is most likely blocked, but if I activate both the offensive and defensive second-step talisman from the duchess, I should be able to make a tear to send either my spirit particle or a bit of my cells." With an escape plan in mind, Wang Wei remained calm.

"What can I do for you, gentleman?" Wang Wei gazed at the three Saints. Two of them seemed to hide their identities, so he only saw a black humanoid shape, without any distinction of gender. Meanwhile, the leader was a burly man about 3 and a half meters, with golden hair and a golden beard that resembled a lion’s mane. Lightning constantly flashed from his eyes, and an ancient, primeval aura emanated from his body.

"Man," said Leiji, the Thunder Chaos Demon God. The soldiers followed his words by kneeling on one knee and saying simultaneously:

"We came to welcome the Holy Son."

"You’re from the Heaven-Splitting Holy Land?" Wang Wei asked.

"That’s right," Leiji nodded. The other Saints remained silent, only observing Wang Wei; to be precise, they were locked on his every move.

"Holy son, huh? It’s been so long since I had a similar title," Wang Wei uttered. He was once the Sacred Son of the Dao Opening Sect in the lower dimension, but that was eons ago. "What if I refused?"

"The Supreme Elder told me to treat you with courtesy, but he also said I must bring you no matter what," Leiji declared. "So, please don’t resist." However, despite his words, the excitement in his eyes when he talked about resistance was suspicious.

"This person is brash and direct. The person who sent him is probably aware of this, but still sends him, meaning even if he used force, the so-called Supreme Elder can apologize while absolving himself of any culpability," Wang Wei analyzed. "However, there is also the possibility they are two cunning individuals, and the current personality is just a charade." Regardless of the truth, one thing was for certain: today, he couldn’t escape being escorted to the Heaven-Splitting Holy Land.

"What must come will come," Wang Wei sighed. As soon as he felt the secret realm’s entrance was inviting him in, he had a feeling things would proceed as such. He had tried to evade it, but sometimes, the more you try to evade fate, the more you run towards it.

"Fine, lead the way. I’ve always wanted to see what the holy lands were like," Wang Wei calmly said. As he stood, he ordered one of the surviving Fate Shadow Guard to deal with the dead and the aftermath of this base’s destruction. Finally, he accepted this grand escort to the holy land’s headquarters.

"What do you think?" Leji asked after teleporting Wang Wei and everybody else.

"Breathtaking," Wang Wei replied. The sight before him was indeed extraordinary. Hidden in another dimension, the holy land existed in a beautiful world, with a towering mountain shaped like an axe at its center. This palace contained no spiritual energy of Heaven and Earth, no Innate or Chaos energy — only Essence Source. In other words, the people living here don’t even have to access the Primal Essence Source to cultivate to the Ancestor Fiendgod Realm. No, even mortals can use this powerful energy to start their cultivation journey.

"Come on, the Supreme Elder should be waiting for you." Leiji took Wang Wei to the highest place in this world, which is the bottom of the axe’s handle or the knob. The closer Wang Wei reached this mountain axe, the more he felt this thing might be an actual weapon and not just a mountain created for aesthetic purposes.

The expected luxury never manifested. Instead, Wang Wei was taken to a small courtyard with a pavilion floating over a lake. An elderly man dressed in all white was waiting. However, the most eye-catching thing about this person was his silver-gray hair and eyes — just like Wang Wei. And as they gazed at each other for the first time, a sense of rivalry flashed between them, followed by a sense of respect and weariness.

"The Fate Chaos Demon God," Wang Wei uttered with squinted eyes.

"The Child of Fate," Mingyunjun said. The two stared at each other briefly before the Supreme Elder acted as a host, asking Wang Wei to sit down and have tea. Mingyunjun showed the highest of etiquette, and given that this man is most likely a Tribunal Lord, Wang Wei should have reciprocated. But he didn’t drink anything from this place — let alone someone else with a Fate Dao.

"There is no need to be weary," Mingyunjun smiled. "We wouldn’t harm you. After all, we still need to rely on you."

"Forgive me if I appear to be rude, but I’m in a foreign environment, and I was basically threatened to come here," Wang Wei replied.

Mingyunjun smiled. He didn’t say anything about Leiji, since he knew such a small trick couldn’t escape the lad. "Do you know why you’re here?"

"How would I know?" Wang Wei replied while feigning a rolled eye.

"There is no need to show any reservation. We know how capable you are."

"You’ve investigated me?"

"Not just investigate, but also observe."

"I’m guessing I’ve been under watch since I arrived in this world?" Wang Wei asked. He’s been wondering how these people found him. No matter how ineffective the Heaven Deception Array was, it should have made some effort — at least, revealed some warning signs. But these people appeared suddenly in his base, showing no trace whatsoever. The only conclusion is he’s been under surveillance since he landed in this secret realm.

"That’s right," Mingyunjun admitted.
