Journey of the Fate Destroying Emperor

Chapter 1760: Immemorial Venerable of Karma

Chapter 1760: Immemorial Venerable of Karma

Wang Wei frowned. This army was truly ruthless and unparalleled in strength. In just the few seconds he took to observe, they had already destroyed hundreds of worlds and dozens of array cores. The worst part is that anyone killed by them will be transformed into one of them.

Without wasting much time, Wang Wei ordered the Saints protecting the Thirteen Pillars to descend to these worlds as soon as possible to stop the Obsession Spirit Army. Time was of the utmost urgency, and with Wang Wei having gained the people’s recognition, the Saints arrived in a matter of seconds. The next step should have been simple:

The Saints used their Saint Will and their overwhelming power to destroy or suppress this terrifying army. The enemy’s invasion will have been for nothing. But things never go as planned, do they? As soon as these obsessions sensed the power of Transcendence, they immediately started fusing, turning them into this amalgamous creature of infinite hatred, grievances, and unbending obsessions.

"Saint Tier power," Wang Wei muttered as he saw these Amalgam Obsession Spirits with a furrowed brow. He observed and the result displeased him even more. While the new forms granted these creatures Saint Tier powers, there was still a limit. Based on a quick calculation, Wang Wei deduced that their strength never surpassed the 9-Pillars mark. However, they had two disgusting abilities:

"Unkillable as long as the obsession remained, and more importantly, my Saints seemed to be scared of the karma of these creatures," Wang Wei analyzed. No one has truly escaped or transcended any concepts of the universe until they’ve become a [True Transcendent]. So, as long as the amount is large, potent, and pure enough, even Grand Dao Saints can be burdened by karmic debts. Wang Wei’s Primordial Chaos Saints had no chance, let alone the weaker cultivators. Regardless, he still needed to deploy them for now.

Wang Wei waved his hand to activate one of the greatest powers the Tribunal Lords granted him: summoning Group A back. According to the previous mission, after destroying three-quarters of the outer cores, the surviving members would teleport to the inner core area with the 3800 Chaos Source Worlds. They would lie low and build spatial beacons to facilitate a grand teleportation directly into the core area.

However, this plan was not absolute. The Tribunal Lords acknowledged that something might go wrong and gave Wang Wei the power to summon them back, but only in an emergency.

’We are close to the required number before entering the core area,’ Wang Wei analyzed. ’I can’t recall everybody, but I can summon most of them. And with the addition of Group B troops, we should be able to deal with the current situation.’ His mind operated rapidly as he concocted a plan to deal with the current problem.

"All Buddhist Cultivators who excels at purification, all Literary Cultivators who hve mastered the highest level of righteous energy, all Taoist Priest cultivators who has mastered Purification Talisman or something of the same nature, all Incense Divine Cultivator who can use Divine Purity to cleanse filth, all Light Race members and Light Dao users, Flame Cultivators who can burn impurities, and so on — report back to headquarters as soon as possible. This is the highest command. Anyone who resists will be labelled as a traitor and executed."

Boom!

With a single command, countless cultivators who were defending the Thirteen Pillars of Destruction descended into the Heaven and Earth Origin Cycle Array to confront this terrifying enemy. But they were not alone. Meanwhile, the Group A members who had succeeded in their mission received this order from a special talisman that was created to work in the enemy’s Black Reverse Stone Array. Although they were surprised by this sudden command, the people who met the requirement did not hesitate. The rest then waited until it was time to reach the core area and set up the spatial beacons.

Numerous spatial portals opened in worlds that formed the Heaven and Earth Origin Cycle Array, and without hesitation, these cultivators released their specialty: purification. Golden lights spread to thousands of worlds as the Obsession Spirit Army faced a terrible attack. They were not dead. Their obsession would not allow it. However, their grievances, hatred, and sins — which are one of the primary sources of their strength — were instantly purified, and thus, weakened them immensely.

With such a swift and decisive action, Commander Wang Wei should be rejoicing, even if his facial expression did not show it. However, his brow remained creased. His plan did not work as intended, and he immediately saw the problems:

"Even purifying these things will result in karmic sins?" This was bad news. No one wanted to be burdened with terrible karma, as it would ruin luck. Wang Wei and the others did not expect to receive merit for their actions. After all, they were probably operating under the rules of another Grand Dao. But the situation turned even worse for them when they realized no matter how they dealt with this army, the karmic sins would land on their heads.

’They are already hesitating and holding back,’ Wang Wei observed. In a few seconds, he saw the shift in his people. Instead of going all out for the kill, they reserved their strength and tried to capture their opponent. However, killing someone is a hundred times easier than capturing them alive.

’I can’t force them since they will use the excuse that they needed to seal the obsession,’ Wang Wei pondered. The only way to deal with these obsessions is to seal them, and with such an excuse, even if Wang Wei wanted to use his position as commander to force them to attack, 99% of them would use this excuse to shirk their duty.

’I need a way to block the karmic sins, or we will face a terrible defeat in this battle.’ As a commander, he cannot escape responsibility if the Heaven and Earth Origin Cycle Array falls and the enemy reaches the Thirteen Pillars. All the prestige Wang Wei previously built would be gone, and the Tribunal Lords would even remove most of the powers and respect they had granted him because of his [Future Self]. So, no matter what, he could not fail now.

’Wait, a way to block karma? I have that.’ He had just used his Karma Unbound Physique to block that first wave of attack, so an idea popped into his head. ’I need a decent method of transmission. It can’t be too complicated, as that would take time to create. I got it. The Way of Divinity should do the trick.’

Wang Wei did not hesitate to transmit his orders to all the soldiers and generals under them. For a brief moment, these people looked at each other with a strange expression. Regardless, time was of the essence, and their lives were in danger, so they had no choice but to do it.

"Revere Commander of the Primordial Expedition, the Immemorial Venerable of Karma whose steps can bound and unbind causality, I beseech thee, grant us your blessing."

These chunubyo-like incantations reverberated between Heaven and Earth as countless powerful entities recited them. Then, a humanoid image that resembled Wang Wei’s figure manifested in all these worlds that were being attacked, forming a karmic link to everyone who used the incantation. A golden light materialized around everybody’s bodies before forming an almost imperceptible shield around their skin.

Boom!

A Buddhist monk punched a legion of the Obsession Spirit Army. His first contained a terrifying power of reincarnation that instantly purified these souls’ hatred. The karmic backlash rushed to the monk, but his body released a gilded light that bounced the karma away.

"It really worked," the monk muttered. The people around him noticed what had happened and immediately tested it out: the result was evident — they were now immune to the karma backless. What happened next was to be expected. Without any worries, all these cultivators could focus on purifying these spirits before slowly sealing them.

Wang Wei observed millions of worlds and saw that his plan of granting these people to borrow the effect of his Karma Unbound Physique. Of course, as always, his actions have multiple effects. With so many people calling his name and essentially "worshipping" him, Wang Wei has amassed a significant amount of fortune, luck, destiny, and, more importantly, he has formed karmic connections to so many people across the Chaos Universe.

Everybody knows never to owe a debt to a Karma Master. But powerful cultivators know that it’s not even recommended to be associated with a Karma Master. The Karma Root Sovereign is not considered among the most powerful Tribunal Lords in this expedition, but everyone knows she might be the most dangerous.

A talisman arrived before Wang Wei from the Saints, asking if they could use the same tactic. Wang Wei immediately rejected them. He knew he would instantly be drained if even one or two of these Saints started borrowing his power. Although he could use the Heaven and Earth Origin Cycle Array to support himself to the point that everyone could use it, Wang Wei did not want to do so.

"My luck is not thick enough to survive being connected to so many Saints," Wang Wei muttered. "More importantly, at least 20% of these Saints are ruthless people who try to kill me to eliminate that karmic connection.’ The best way to deal with a karmic debt or karmic connection is to kill the person it’s owed to. Wang Wei did not want to risk his life on the benevolence of these people.
