Journey of the Fate Destroying Emperor

Chapter 1759: No One Can Escape Karma: Group B’s Situation

Chapter 1759: No One Can Escape Karma: Group B’s Situation

Heaven and Earth Origin Cycle Array, Command Central Room:

Wang Wei sat while floating in the air, looking at numerous screens. He first focused on two particular ones, both showing the battle of the Tribunal Lords. In the first screen, he saw the Time and Heaven Cardinal battling those two strange creatures. Typically, Wang Wei’s reflexes and detective abilities would not allow him to detect such high-level battles. Still, before the second attack, he had people modify the array and the command room.

In the second screen, an intense five-v-five was going on. Except for the Erudite Duchess and the Slaughter Ancestor, every Primordial Tribunal Lord fought against all five Divine Tribunal Lords. The battle was intense, but Group B had successfully blocked the enemy from accessing the 13 World Refining Pillars.

’The people from the court are fighting recklessly and without any worry about their injuries,’ Wang Wei analyzed. Although everything seemed to be going their way, the flaw in the situation was also apparent. The Primordial Beings focus on defense and on keeping the pillars working for as long as possible. Meanwhile, the Divine Beings are desperate, going to extreme lengths to save their world and preserve the status quo of the Reverse Black Stone Array.

Wang Wei moved the screens, focusing on a small group of Saints and Paragons attacking the Heaven and Earth Origin Cycle Array. Their tactic was similar to his: test out as many worlds as possible to find the array cores. Unfortunately, the Infinite Divine Court did not have many soldiers left for this task. They had already suffered numerous casualties in the first attack, and now, most of their people had to protect the outer array cores of the Reverse Black Stone Array.

Wang Wei turned his head to one screen with a count: 82,987...82,988....

’This battle has been going on for a few thousand yuan epochs,’ Wang Wei thought. ’And I have a feeling that a turning point is about to occur.’ The enemy’s array has 129,600 nodes, and as long as three-fourths are destroyed (meaning over 97,000), the outer array will be shut down, granting access to the core. However, Wang Wei did not believe the court would so easily allow them to succeed. So, the closer they are to the 97,200 core, the more likely something will happen.

’If it were up to me, I would have summoned someone from Group C to assist Group B, but I have no authority there,’ Wang Wei sighed. By now, the Erudite Duchess and Slaughter Ancestor have probably already reached the core of the Grand Constructs and are doing their own things. As a commander, Wang Wei had no power over what these people did; he didn’t even have a way to contact them.

’Forget it. Nothing has happened yet, and I’m already in semi-panicked mode,’ Wang Wei shook his head. He recognized his current mood as a result of his poverty. His true body has almost finished nourishing his [Freedom Seed]. Unfortunately, there is no military merit or contribution to buy more Refining Path Stones.

As a commander, he received his fair share of contributions, but the number is pitifully low — unless a significant event occurs and his command or decision plays a decisive role. Over the past few years, there have been a few minor attacks from the Infinite Divine Court, all insignificant in the grand scheme of things, which means that Wang Wei’s contribution has not increased by much. His recent poverty has made him excited and sparked a desire to act.

After controlling his greed, Wang Wei shifted his attention to another source of concern: Death Reverence. Over the years, the man has remained quiet and peaceful, which should be a good thing. However, the quieter he is, the more worried Wang Wei becomes. Such a madman is incapable of remaining still. His patience can only mean one thing: he’s planning something big.

’What are you planning?’ Wang Wei thought. He had many theories on what Death Reverence would do. The two most likely scenarios are secretly capturing dead bodies for something nefarious or using all the death energy in the world to cultivate — most likely, increase his foundation pillars. After all, Death Reverence became a Saint after the Ultimate taboo. However, despite secretly taking preventive measures for these scenarios and waiting for the enemy to fall into a trap, Death Reverence has not made a single move. He remained as elusive as ever, acting as if he were just doing his job and deciding to stay low during this expedition.

After sighing deeply, Wang Wei checked on a few more people: the Black Order Assassin, who is the person destined to complicate his Time Nexus, and the person Wang Wei had chosen to deal with this anomaly. Everything was peaceful, for now, so Wang Wei decided to just wait and see. There was currently no opportunity for a pre-emptive move, so the best course of action is to wait for the enemy to make their move and respond.

The council continued, and after reaching 89,000, Wang Wei’s true body finally ran out of resources and was forced to stall his cultivation and exit his retreat. His seed was now in a semi-completed state. According to Wang Wei, he now had a 16% chance of becoming a Saint by relying only on his foundation. However, he had not achieved the highest percentage of 20% due to the lack of resources.

After taking over and dismissing the avatar, the main body continued waiting. His instinct was telling him the time of significant change was approaching. At first, he thought it would happen at the 90,000th mark, but he was wrong. The Infinite Divine Court waited until 2000 more cores were destroyed before something occurred.

"All actions are causes, and all causes have effects," a voice suddenly boomed throughout the Chaos Universe. Wang Wei acted swiftly and realized the source originated from the Reverse Black Stone Array.

"Here we go," he muttered.

"All those wronged souls who have been cruelly sacrificed by those of immense ambition, rise again and let your voices be heard — let your obsession manifest into the world and bring with you an eternal vengeance full of righteous justice."

As soon as those words were uttered, a sudden change occurred throughout the Chaos Universe. The first person to feel was Wang Wei. A potent karmic blade with immense obsession bypassed the Heaven and Earth Origin Cycle Array and directly headed to his body in the central command room.

Wang Wei calmly looked at this attack. The red blade was the embodiment of all the creatures who died when he used those worlds as slingshots to test the enemy’s array cores.

"Unfortunately for you, the karma of the world cannot bind me," Wang Wei calmly stated. He waved his hand, and the blade dispersed. Unfortunately for him, karma was not the only force attacking. Obsession, the unique power that first appeared in the Chaos Universe after [Perfection] lost to Grand Dao and went mad, was not something he could simply dismiss with a wave of his hand.

Wang Wei did not even try. He immediately activated his Saint Dao Heart and the power of the Heaven and Earth Origin Cycle Array to push the Power of Obsession outside of the command room. However, this was the best he could do for now: block out outside of this room, which created a frown on his handsome face.

’Maybe I can seal it with the Power of Perfection and the Power of Nothingness,’ Wang Wei analyzed. However, he did not have time to put this plan into action as something had occurred. Whoever cast the widespread karma spell was not only targeting Wang Wei, the main culprit involved. No, their real target was the Heaven and Earth Origin Cycle Array.

An army of soul grievance, vengeful ghosts, and obsession spirits manifested outside of the array. Logically speaking, this army that resembled an ocean of blood should have been primarily composed of mortal souls who died in Wang Wei’s previous actions, meaning they should have been no threat. Unfortunately, resentments and obsessions are a truly potent force. With so much of it, most of the people in these armies have reached the Immortal Strength, many of whom are on par with Paragons and even Primals.

They rushed into the formation, and to everybody’s horror, these beings easily bypassed the array’s protective barrier and rushed in like an uncontrollable plague. These people had no system or leadership. They did not slowly search for any of the worlds with a core. Instead, they ravaged and destroyed everything in their paths.

Could their action be considered killing their own kind? The answer is both yes and no. After using these worlds as the array material, Wang Wei had ordered that all cultivators be imprisoned and reformed into their army or executed if they resisted. The surviving mortals — who had limited lifespans and could not remember they were invaded after only a few hundred years — were brainwashed to become their own people.

The Obsession Spirit Army destroyed their enemies, yet these were still their comrades from the same timeline. Unfortunately, they did not care about such a thing. They were only here for one thing: bring out their wrath against these invaders. Whoever stood in their way was their enemy.
