Chapter 4816: The Enemy Unseen IV
Chapter 4816: The Enemy Unseen IV
Noah’s eyes widened as he studied the billions of giants more closely.
"I noticed it first when those who backed and followed my Way of Chaos seemingly began to disappear one after another, as if they were pulling back their backing."
Chaos’s voice carried the weight of memory.
"Do you want to know what I initially saw when I went to investigate?"
He didn’t wait for an answer.
"This was a few hours ago."
THE Primordial Chaos waved his hand, and another illusory screen appeared beside the first.
This one displayed the same vast citadel of a civilization that Noah was just looking at on the other screen.
But it shockingly showed things decimated, as if a war was occurring!
The giants seemed divided on two sides as they were fighting each other with authority that shook the very foundations of Jotunheim!
One side was shockingly efficient and silent while they attacked. Their movements were precise and coordinated. Their usage of the Way of Chaos was grander and more controlled than anything Noah had ever seen. They fought without roaring. They advanced without hesitation.
The other side was roaring orders and fighting with everything they had. They utilized chaos in the traditional sense, wild and unpredictable and desperate. They threw Declarations and Theses and raw authority at their attackers with abandon.
Half-Step Absolutes clashed with power that cracked the black ice beneath them!
THE Fundamental Depth entities traded blows that would have collapsed lesser civilizations!
THE Intermediate and Surface Depth beings fought in numbers that should have made this a battle lasting eons!
And yet, with just the passage of seconds...
The less efficient side, the side that had been roaring orders and fighting with everything they had...
Brought their hands down silently.
No more assertions or impositions or Declarations or anything flew around.
Nobody fought anymore.
Everybody stopped fighting.
An immense, eerie quiet spread over the entire civilization!
The giants then began to move as if they had not just been fighting, their Ways of Chaos moving with perfect synchronization as they began to repair the citadel around them. They fixed what had been destroyed. They cleaned what had been bloodied. They restored what had been damaged.
As if nothing had happened.
As if the battle had never occurred.
As if they had always been on the same side.
Noah’s face became heavy as THE Primordial Chaos explained with a voice that held the weight of someone describing a nightmare that had become reality.
"The enemy that has been encroaching upon my Way is one that is extremely lethal in their attacks, and their method of action seems to be a silent spread into all Depths and Civilizations without you even knowing it."
He gestured toward the now-peaceful citadel on the first screen.
"All these billions who were followers of my Way of Chaos... they effectively died and were collapsed without even knowing it."
The giants continued their synchronized cultivation, their faces serene and empty.
"What remains of them should be husks, and yet everything seems as is."
Chaos’s voice grew darker still.
"Them throwing attacks or expressing their Way is a diversion. They are like an infection where just by being near those infected, it may seem like you are fighting them, but the authority that you breathe, the Phonemes of The First Tongue that you use, the very Way and Civilization that you are utilizing across your existence... could already be infected by whatever this is."
Noah watched as the giants in the illusory screen moved in perfect unison to purify a cluster of Corrupted Growths that had formed nearby.
"Before you know it, things simply turn dark. Who you were disappears, and something else replaces you."
THE Primordial Chaos paused to let the weight of his words settle.
"What is even more terrifying is that whatever this invisible enemy is...they have no body for us to be attacking. Even I do not know what to target."
The giants finished their purification and returned to their cultivation positions.
"And after the takeover of all of these existences, they operate as if everything is normal. They have been very astute with my Way as I sense them purifying Chaos constantly and taking care of Corrupted Growths."
Noah understood now why the Weavings of Chaos had been so clean when he observed them.
It wasn’t because THE Primordial Chaos was more diligent.
It was because something else was maintaining his domain.
Something that had replaced his followers.
Something that was pretending to be them while spreading further.
...!
Noah’s face became more and more grave as he heard the things that THE Primordial Chaos was saying.
THE Primordial Chaos continued with the finality of someone delivering a verdict.
"The only headway that I have managed to make is that somehow... the only identity I have been able to uncover that is connected to this that I visibly feel a threat towards..."
His shifting features settled into something deadly serious.
"Is THE Secretive Eon."
BOOM!
Noah’s eyes pulsed with light as his illusory visage focused on THE Primordial Chaos!
His foundations trembled.
His heart beat with weight that pressed against his existence.
DUM! DUM! DUM!
The beat of his heart was heavy! His Seals buzzed and as if their hairs stood on end with alarm!
THE Secretive Eon.
The being who had proposed collapsing THE Four together.
The being who said she wanted to replace them rather than merely kill them.
The being whose Disciple he had just retrieved.
The being he had left sitting near his other body moments ago.
"I will warn the other two, but THE Four of us will have to be vigilant against THE Secretive Eon."
Chaos’s voice carried absolute certainty.
"I reached out to you first since you are the weakest among us and you might not even feel anything. Because this enemy could truly overcome you without even a fight, your consciousness simply erased while those around you don’t know any better."
His shifting features held something that might have been concern.
"As one of THE Four, you should have a unique sense or intuition. If you even sense your existence feeling a tingly sense of alarm, if you ever feel like something is a bit off, run."
He leaned closer.
"If you are close with THE Creature, be around with him for a little bit. If you have any level of trust in me, you can even bring your main body here."
His voice dropped to something almost gentle.
"The moment you sense or hear anything about the Weavings of THE Secretive Eon, run. Because if she is even near you, you may lose yourself soon after before you know. You may already be dead."
THE Primordial Chaos straightened.
"I thought that you would be the one they targeted first since you are the weakest. And whatever this enemy is... if they got their hands on The First Tongue, things would become unfathomably harder for all of us with such a thing under their control."
BOOM!
Noah’s mind buzzed.
The beat of his heart was heavy!
He remembered Eon’s words.
She planned to collapse THE Primordial Chaos and others, and Chaos was her first target as she said she would replace him.
She would replace him.
And she would do the same with THE Living Paradox, with THE Creature.
And then she said him!
She had said this!
She had openly told him her plans!
