Chapter 3611: Taking the Blame
Chapter 3611: Taking the Blame

Gideon had been secluded for cultivation, and he froze for a moment upon hearing this, then shook his head and said, "It’s just a rumor. I’ve been cultivating the whole time and haven’t left at all. It must be some other martial artist who controls elemental science."
As they spoke, suddenly two fellow gods appeared, looking anxious, rushing over. "Something’s wrong, a big problem has occurred."
Everyone looked at the two gods.
"What happened? Don’t panic, tell us slowly."
The gods raised their heads, saw Gideon, and their expressions turned as if they had seen a ghost. "Gideon? How is it you? You’re... how are you here?"
"What do you mean? Why can’t I be here?"
The gods took a deep breath and said, "Run, Gideon. The news has already spread. The God Clan will come after you soon."
"Run? Why? The God Clan is after me?"
Gideon looked utterly confused.
Although the God Clan was always domineering, he had never provoked them, and he had even tried to make connections. They wouldn’t trouble him for no reason.
"You... didn’t you kill someone from the God Clan?"
"Me? I killed someone from the God Clan? What nonsense are you talking about! I’ve stayed in the tower the whole time and never left!"
Gideon’s expression suddenly grew serious. He felt an extremely ominous sensation, grabbed one of the approaching gods, and said in a low voice, "What happened? Tell me everything, as detailed as possible."
The gods also found it strange and quickly explained the rumors from the Outer World that Gideon had killed Ravi, a member of the God Clan.
Gideon’s face changed slightly, and a chill shot up from his feet through his whole body.
Someone was impersonating him!? And they had killed a member of the God Clan?
Who could it be?
Now was not the time to think about that.
The God Clan was always arrogant; if they came after him, he wouldn’t even have time to defend himself.
He had to go find Tiger Venerable!
With Tiger Venerable mediating, he might still have a chance to explain.
Gideon’s mind was in chaos. He pushed the companions aside and immediately got up to search for Tiger Venerable.
Meanwhile, Fang Heng had absorbed the dimensional energy and immediately returned to the Dimensional Emperor Island with Zane, quietly going back to the tower of Tiger Venerable’s domain to continue his cultivation.
When he left the cultivation room again, it was already daytime the next day.
During his seclusion, he once again used astrology to block all traces related to Ravi’s death, preventing anyone from finding him using astrology or grand premonition spells.
Fang Heng was confident that even those normal martial artists from before could not see through his identity.
He wouldn’t encounter trouble in the short term.
"Contestant."
Outside the door, a white-robed elder saw Fang Heng finish his seclusion and nodded. "The Martial Apex Tournament preliminary round starts tomorrow. Tiger Venerable has invited all contestants to gather on the top floor. I will take you there now."
"All right."
Soon, Fang Heng followed the elder to the top floor of the tower.
Most of the martial artists selected for the preliminaries had already gathered, and they cast glances at Fang Heng.
Zane, who had been scouting outside since parting with Fang Heng yesterday, saw him return and came up, grinning, lowering his voice: "Those fools from the God Clan are indeed after Gideon. That kid isn’t dumb; he refused to admit it and went to Tiger Venerable for help."
Fang Heng nodded slightly and asked, "Then what happened?"
"Tiger Venerable stepped in as a guarantor. Gideon’s life was temporarily spared. But from what I see, the God Clan won’t let him off easily."
"I think so too."
The God Clan was proud; if a clan member was killed, Ken certainly would not forgive easily.
Fang Heng glanced toward Gideon.
Gideon’s face looked very unpleasant.
He couldn’t understand why he had suddenly angered the God Clan.
Although Tiger Venerable guaranteed his safety and the God Clan agreed to give way temporarily, waiting until the investigation finished, he knew clearly the God Clan would not let him go easily.
Once he left the Dimensional Emperor Island, the God Clan would immediately take action against him.
Fang Heng scanned the crowd and asked, "Why don’t I see the God King?"
"Don’t mention it. That guy is fragile; I heard he injured his tendons and bones. He needs a month to recover, otherwise he’d be dead on arrival. His preliminary round is scheduled last."
As they spoke, Tiger Venerable entered the hall, escorted by two white-robed elders.
Usually lazy, Tiger Venerable today looked solemn, his mood clearly not good.
"The preliminaries start tomorrow. A total of 128 contestants: eighty selected from each domain, and forty-eight invited.
During the preliminaries, each match is a one-on-one elimination. Winners advance, losers are out. The match order is arranged by us... the goal is to let more people advance to the next round."
Tiger Venerable scanned the crowd. "Tomorrow, our first battle will be against the invited martial artist Feng Tiya. She is the ancient sea monster empress, skilled in psychic and spatial control. She is strong; in the Martial Apex Tournament, she has reached the top sixteen. Who wants to go first?"
Upon hearing this, the crowd fell silent.
In theory, most invited martial artists were slightly stronger than the selected contestants.
Feng Tiya was a familiar face in the tournament, individually powerful and difficult to deal with.
Facing her, most felt their chances were slim.
If no one volunteered, by tradition, Tiger Venerable would designate the first fighter.
Fang Heng, being new, had no prior research on opponents and had not heard of her. Hearing she had reached the top sixteen and was not from the God Clan, he figured she wasn’t overwhelmingly strong.
After all, luck played a large part in one-on-one elimination matches.
Fang Heng cupped his fists. "Tiger Venerable, I will go first."
The martial artists all looked at him.
This guy is bold?
Well, that means they didn’t have to face Feng Tiya.
"Oh?" Tiger Venerable glanced at Fang Heng. "Your mutation ability will be countered by her. Are you sure you want to go?"
"Yes, Tiger Venerable."
Tiger Venerable looked him over and nodded. "All right, then you it is."
The rest of the crowd breathed a sigh of relief.
Gideon, however, looked at Fang Heng.
Even though he had been tormented by the God Clan these past two days, his grudge against Fang Heng had not diminished at all.
Ha!
He actually wanted to volunteer to fight Feng Tiya?
Overestimating himself!
No! He was courting death!
Gideon knew that even if he won against Feng Tiya, it would be a costly victory, severely affecting his subsequent matches.
Having Fang Heng face Feng Tiya first was perfect.
