Chapter 6748: Unaware Of The Prestigious Guests
The legendary overlords of Beastmaster couldn’t have subdued him in one move. The only possibility was the immortal realm.
A chill coursed down his spine. If a servant was an immortal, then what about the master?
“Sit.” Li Qiye smiled, having no intention of killing him.
“Yes, I will...” He smiled awkwardly.
Li Qiye didn’t have another chair available so he picked up a boulder nearby, using it as a chair.
“Please forgive my impetuous act, immortals.” He bowed toward Li Qiye and then Xiaoyue.
An ancient ancestor such as himself had no right to be here. Thus, being asked to sit down was a great honor.
Li Qiye continued to play with the carp surrounded by a bubble in his palm.
“May I speak, Immortal?” The emperor mustered all of his courage.
“You may.” Li Qiye smiled.
“Immortal, our Rainbow Kingdom has a certain prophecy, that a rainbow carp will mark the return of our progenitor. When a descendant comes across one, it is time to welcome his return. Immortal, please allow me to do so.” The emperor said.
At first, he hid the truth in case Li Qiye demanded an insane price. Now, he has lost all agency.
The prophecy spoke that their progenitor, Rainbow Dragon, didn’t die entirely. Although the dragon failed the dao ascension and potentially became this river after death, ancient ancestors of the kingdom were told something different. Their progenitor was still alive, only returning to the root - a rainbow carp.
He noticed the strange phenomenon earlier and came running, only to see the mythical carp. Therefore, he wanted to take it back to the kingdom as soon as possible.
“Let you bring it back?” Li Qiye smiled.
“Please permit me to do so, Immortal. We will never forget your kindness.” The emperor prostrated.
“And if I don’t?” Li Qiye smiled.
The emperor turned pale despite having guessed this result. He spoke: “Immortal, welcoming our progenitor back is our responsibility. Though I am merely an insect before you, I will uphold my duty until death.”
“Want to seize it from me?” Li Qiye smiled.
“Immortal, I know you can kill me with one finger but I will not yield for it is my responsibility.” The emperor clenched his fists. His determination surged as he stared at the rainbow carp.
“Yes, you will die in the blink of an eye.” Li Qiye said.
He understood that Li Qiye spoke the truth. He arched his chest and took one step forward: “I will not live a life of shame by running.”
“What a way to put it, I will spare you because of these words.” Li Qiye smiled.
“This doesn’t change anything, I’ll still be living a life of shame.” He smiled wryly.
“I can understand wanting to fulfill your duty, but have you thought about what you will do after welcoming the progenitor back?” Li Qiye asked.
“Immortal, the teachings instructed us to bring the rainbow carp back and raise it with all of our resources. One day, the progenitor’s spirit will return and it will transform into a soaring dragon.” The emperor said.
“I’m afraid your kingdom won’t last long enough to see it transform into a dragon and ascend into the heavens.” Li Qiye said.
“Yes, but it is the descendants’ inescapable duty.” The emperor said, aware that the transformation might take too long.
“Your progenitor is fortunate to have a descendant such as yourself.” Li Qiye nodded.
“I beg of you, Immortal, please let us welcome the progenitor back.” He knelt again.
“Returning to your kingdom is no fortune. She failed the dao once and trying again will take a long time. However, there is a bond between us, a strong one.” Li Qiye said.
“Immortal, you must be from a major world. Are you here for our progenitor?” He recalled a few legends and asked: “Are you from Guardian Alliance?”
He heard his progenitor came from Grand Thousand World, one of the nine major worlds. She was a member of Guardian Alliance.
“In a way, yes.” Li Qiye smiled.
“Please help our progenitor.” He understood this fortune was far better than returning to the kingdom. Thus, he kowtowed repeatedly.
