Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 4708 A Death Zone?

Chapter 4708  A Death Zone?

"I see." Davis nodded, "So you're a free person who is willingly protecting the remnants of the tribe. But see, by attacking me, didn't you just bring a disaster to your tribe? Do you think I will not be able to find it? Should I lead you there myself and watch-"

"Wait! Wait… I… I'm sorry. I apologize… please…"

The assailant tried to stand up but fell to his knees and begged as he ignored the pain from his charred flesh.

Davis smiled gently, "Then, shall we start from the beginning. What's your name?"

"…" Fairy Thunderblaze cast a gaze over Davis.

She really didn't want to be on the interrogated side as she saw his laidback, gentle, and warm style that inversely bordered on the realm of dread.

"Cantor. My name is Cantor Darkdew." The assailant introduced himself, "I'm a survivor from a small spirit tribe. Please don't attack us. I really didn't mean to…"

"I'll be the judge of that." Davis cut him short and continued, "Tell me about this region and the sky-piercing mountain."

"This region…" Cantor Darkdew hesitated, "I… this region is full of pocket spaces that belong to various spirit tribes. However, obtaining a pocket space is easier said that done. After all, if you live out in the open, there's a high chance that you will get attacked by a Calamity, and we're an exiled tribe who don't get to live in paradise. Our tribe was living in a pocket space since an Eternal Eclipse Bird perched on a tree above the pocket space, we were…"

A painful ache swelled in his heart.

"Paradise? What's that?" Davis wondered what kind of place that was to be addressed as a paradise in this world-forsaken Elemental Dimension.

"The sky-piercing mountain you mentioned…" Cantor Darkdew blinked, "That's the Myriad Coiling Spirit Peak, a paradise for spirits. Although it isn't completely invulnerable, if we live there, the chances of getting attacked are extremely low since there are terrifyingly powerful spirits there."

Davis's brows raised in worry, "How powerful?"

Didn't he just leave Rioxys Plume there?

"Exalt Stage Spirits…" Cantor Darkdew's voice turned reverent, "I heard they're incredibly powerful, and they don't fight amongst themselves since it is an ancient rule from the Guardian of the Mountain above the clouds."

Davis's brows squinted.

If other spirits are following the words of a sentient being, then he felt that it wouldn't be another Exalt Stage Spirit but a True Deity Spirit. He didn't know what the latter was called for spirits, but regardless, he heard some information that he couldn't ignore.

Should he return and tell Rioxys Plume not to head above? But he did warn her not to go above the clouds.

Davis felt like he needed more details, "So your tribe didn't follow the rules and got exiled?"

"No, I heard we weren't able to meet the tribute quota, so we were exiled. Once we gain enough achievements and produce a powerful member again, we would be able to join, but…"

Painful memories once again flooded Cantor Darkdew. His parents died. His master died. His wife and two children died, leaving only his master's children, whom he needed to take care of and protect no matter what.

Hearing all this, Davis felt some pity.

The Shard Continent wasn't a place to live at all.

"So what if a spirit visits the paradise? Will that spirit be targeted?"

Cantor Darkdew shook his head, "As long as the spirit doesn't make trouble, no one would bother. Of course, they need to leave before a certain amount of time, which depends on the strength and the tributes they bring to offer to the mountain. An Exalt Spirit would usually be welcome for their strength alone, but for weaker spirits, they need to adhere to many rules."

"I see…"

Davis finally felt some ease. In that case, he felt Rioxys Plume could do well there since she was a good spirit who was obedient. She wouldn't make needless trouble out of nowhere.

"What do you know about the other side of the mountain?"

"Other side?"

"The northern side…" Davis pointed in a direction.

Cantor Darkdew's expression turned grim, "That's a death zone. If you go there, you won't survive."

"Didn't you want me to die?" Davis blinked.

"That… that's a misunderstanding…" Cantor Darkdew profusely apologized by bowing his head.

"Continue."

"That place is uniquely restricted to Empyreans and weaker people. It's a place occupied by ghost-type spirits, and even human ghosts appear there. Moreover, there's a calamitous blood carnage lurking there that eats and assimilates people and even other Calamities, becoming them. Even though it is just an Empyrean Stage Calamity, it is the most terrifying of them all. We dare not go there…!"

"It's too scary… it caused a mass exodus of spirits millions of years ago…!"

"…"

Davis and Fairy Thunderblaze looked at each other.

Cantor Darkdew looked like he was nearly having a breakdown. Perhaps he had seen it before? But his mentality was already weak or cracked since he seemed to cooperate easily. It didn't take Davis much to get him to talk.

"Wouldn't that have grown into an Exalt Stage Calamity already and either died or become a supreme existence here?" Davis asked.

"No… It's still active… a hundred and twenty years ago, it recently wiped out a tribe at the edge who thought they were safe from the northern region of the Myriad Coiling Spirit Peak. That tribe even had a powerful Empyrean who could cross eight levels to battle, but the entire tribe vanished one night. Investigations from the mountain led us to believe that they were all lured into the restricted region by that calamitous, bloody carnage. It even laid out a trap for the investigators, but fortunately, they were able to escape."

Davis and Fairy Thunderblaze looked at each other again.

It seems like this blood-attributed Void Calamity or a Realm Calamity was a terrifying existence within the Empyrean Stage, possessing mild yet cunning intelligence after having lived for so long like the Nefarious Darkwill Rakshasa.

However, Davis wasn't worried since he had the Cursed Artifact, not to mention the Voidplane Temporal Ring and the Scarlet Destiny Spindle.
