Death… And Me

Chapter 4116: Obviously!

Chapter 4116: Obviously!

Herbert would be lying if he said he didn't expect as much. "Good to know. I also want to enter it again. Too bad it has been closed ever since. We can't even tell if it is still there or not. I have been watching everything related to it very closely, but as far as I know, no one found a way back inside."

"Oh! That's not it," Rean corrected. "There is one more reason that we came to visit you in here. The Mist Library is definitely in the Valames Valley still. It's just that the entrance connected to it is inside this estate of yours."

"What?!" Herbert got up in a hurry. "Really?! Here?! Where?! How come we haven't found it until today? Ah! I'm not hiding it, alright?! This is definitely news for me!"

"Don't worry, we are aware that you know nothing. You wouldn't be able to detect it anyway, even if you knew about it before. Well, it's nothing to be that happy about, though," Rean continued. "We can open the passage, and you can even get inside if you want. However, this is the last time you will see the Mist Library. If things go as planned, the Mist Library will cease to exist. Don't ask why, we can't talk about it."

Herbert took a deep breath, nodding in the end. "So you also want my permission to open the passage, right? Of course, you absolutely have it! Well... with your strength, you didn't really. Anyway, I wasn't sure if I would ever manage to get into the Mist Library again to start with, so if I only have one more chance, that is still more than enough for me."

Then, he looked outside through a window, curious. "By the way, where is this entrance? I truly can't imagine where it could have been. Maybe in the formations facility? There is quite a good amount of projects going on there."

Roan pointed down. "Straight below us, seemingly inside a chamber surrounded by a lot of Divine Stones that are replaced fairly constantly. It is quite a nice cultivation environment."

Herbert was even more surprised now. "That?! But that's the chamber I built to cultivate! The Divine Stones around are all put there by me. Before my clan moved, it was just dirt. It shouldn't have anything special ther-"

But then, he stopped, and an idea appeared in his mind, his eyebrow twitching a little. "It couldn't be, right?"

"Hahaha!" Rean got up and patted Herbert's shoulder. "You sure spared no expenses to build that room. Yet, little did you notice that the kind of path that my group used to get into the Mist Library shifted to your cultivation chamber because of that. Well, the Mist Library Spirit definitely had a hand in this, too."

Herbert massaged the space between his eyebrows. "I had every stone overturned during all these years, looking for this fucking entrance, and it was just under my fucking nose all this time... This is ridiculous... No, you mentioned that it was a kind of entrance only you could detect, so I guess it makes sense...?"

But then, he got confused. "Wait, how do you know about my cultivation chamber? Almost no one knows it exists, but you even know what it looks like. The formations there should have blocked any Divine Senses."

[What else! It is all thanks to your amazing Sister Orb! The formations aren't too bad for someone at your level, but for me, as I am at the moment, it only takes a few seconds to hack into them all! Hahaha!]

Or so Sister Orb wanted to say... Too bad her existence wasn't known by Herbert, so she couldn't just get out there and tell him that.

Rean, Roan, and Kentucky did hear it, though. 'You stay quiet over there, alright?'

[So boring...]

"Ahem..." Rean shrugged. "We are Peak Stage Divinities, aren't we? We have a few other tricks up our sleeves. Don't ask too much. We won't tell you. You certainly have your secrets, and so we have ours."

Herbert scratched the back of his head. First of all, it wasn't like he could do much if the twins' group decided to invade his estate by force. They were all Peak Divinities in his eyes, so what could he possibly do? Besides, he still remembers how ridiculously strong they were back then with lower cultivations, so they definitely wouldn't be any worse now. At least they were having the decency to come and talk to him and even offer him the opportunity to enter the Library again. "Very well, I won't ask."

He walked to the door, speaking. "Follow me. I'll bring you all down."

Kentucky quickly added something else. "Oh! There's another thing. You'd better keep the fact that we opened the Mist Library between us. Don't tell anyone else. If everyone finds out the Library disappeared at the same time we visited you, things could get pretty spicy on your side."

Herbert agreed with him. "Yeah, I can see that. Let's go."

There were a few formations that Herbert had to give access to the twins' group so they could get to his private cultivation chamber below his clan's estate. Nonetheless, they got there a few minutes later, and it was indeed quite a good cultivation place, even compared to other cultivation areas owned by other Divinities.

Still, Herbert couldn't see anything around. "Okay... you say the entrance is here, but I truly haven't felt anything out of the norm during the many years I had this thing. Just where is it?"

Of course, he didn't feel it. That's because it wasn't the same type that the others used back then. Instead, it was the type the twins used. The one that needed the system's Abyssal Path ability.

Rean and Roan simply willed it to the system, and out of nowhere, a Dark Tunnel appeared in front of Herbert, much to his surprise. "Now that I think about it, I didn't see how you got inside the Mist Library last time. We met outside, then we went our separate ways. When we met again, you were already inside the Mist Library. I'm sure your group wasn't part of the various other groups that took the same entrance as my clan did. Was this the reason I didn't see you?"

Rean nodded. "Yep. Our methods are slightly different, let's say. So, are you coming?"

Herbert immediately joined them. "What kind of question is that? Obviously!"
