Death… And Me

Chapter 3913: Not Only Them

Chapter 3913: Not Only Them

A week went by, and the bad news continued to pile up. By now, pretty much everyone knew that the Green Cluster’s situation was dire. However, it mattered not to the twins’ group, as Rean and Foliana were about to join Wisfreya in the Super Long-Distance Teleport Formation facility.

Such formations would usually only be found in big capitals, and most continents didn’t even have one of them. However, that was the case for weaker Universes. Here in A1, getting a formation like that done wasn’t too hard. Why? Because the cost of energy to keep and use it was so much lower. Or you could say it was higher, but not in the way one might think.

If you compared the values to the available resources with the Lisan Universe, keeping and using this formation here in the A1 Universe didn’t cost even a hundredth of the Lisan Universe. Thus, even the Verjansy Country had one, and several other countries did too.

Still, if you wanted to activate it, just the environment’s Divine and Divine Origin Energy weren’t enough. It had to be complemented with Divine Stones. In this case, Rank Ten Divine Stoes were necessary.

One might be thinking: Wait! Super Long Distance Teleport Formations could be activated with Rank Seven Divine Stones in the weaker Universes. Why was Rank Ten necessary here?

The reason was also the huge concentration of Divine and Divine Origin Energy present here.

They made space much, much more stable and sturdy than in those Universes. Thus, bending space here needed higher-ranking Divine Stones. Don’t get it wrong, it didn’t mean it was harder to use. Let’s not forget that the lowest level of Divine Stones you could find in the A1 Universe was Rank Seven. So, even though Rank Ten Divine Stones were being used, in this Universe, it was pretty much the same as Rank Four Divine Stones back in the Lisan Universe. It wasn’t too hard for the Verjansy Country to gather enough of them if they truly needed this kind of extra power.

Wisfreya had Rean, Narika, and Foliana by her side. Gathered with them, a bunch of younger and older experts from the country, as well as their government officials.

"Thank you for gathering here today," Bugel came out, greeting everyone at the teleport formation facility. "As you know, the Green Cluster is pretty much condemned. Those who are here today are the core of the Verjansy Country’s future, and we need to keep you safe. Even though we are reaching an agreement with the Storms Grounds Alliance so that we can just surrender when the invaders get here, there is no guarantee they will truly spare the population and our future prospects."

He continued. "That said, we also made another agreement with the Country of Galantes, located in the Runia Continent."

Everyone there knew that they would be sent far away, but few knew exactly where. Today was the first time the rest heard about their destination.

"Runia Continent? I don’t remember that one..."

"It is supposed to be far away, isn’t it? It’s normal you haven’t heard about it. I haven’t either."

"Is it any good?"

Those and other questions began to flow in Bugel’s direction.

"Ah! I remember now," someone suddenly said. "Isn’t Runia Continent to the north? I believe it is well over a thousand continents away at the very least."

Bugel nodded. "That’s correct. They are way too far to be involved in any of this, thankfully. So, after getting in contact with the Galantes Country and coming to an agreement, they are willing to take you all in and register you as part of their citizens."

Everyone began to talk while checking the information on the Werdlem Network. Pretty much no one knew anything about that continent and country, so they obviously were curious.

Bugel didn’t stop speaking, though. "Anyway, there is no need for you to worry. If everything goes as planned, our country should be able to surrender when the enemy arrives, and then we just need to wait for the time things stabilize."

Someone raised a hand. "President Bugel. From the looks of it, the invaders are attacking our Green Cluster to destroy the natural nodes that make the Green Cluster prosper."

By now, the intention of the invaders was clear, and it turned out to be precisely what Roan said. The enemy was coming to destroy the Green Cluster... or, to be more specific, to destroy what made the Green Cluster such a rich land... at the cost of the lands surrounding it.

"Even if everything calms down later, the Green Cluster will soon lose a lot of its value. Is it truly worth coming back later?"

Bugel expected that question and already had an answer. "It is. You see, the Natural Nodes that the Green Cluster Alliance had been protecting all these years were causing the other areas around to suffer. That’s why we were attacked so many times."

"This time, once the nodes are destroyed, that doesn’t mean the Green Cluster and the continents inside it will disappear. That just means the Green Cluster will start to go back to what it should have really been to start with. So, it is not like our Verjansy Country will suddenly become a barren land, far from that. It will just turn back into a normal land. Think about it as if we are starting again from a similar position to the rest of the continents of this side of the Divine Realm."

Bugel wasn’t an idiot, so he also made another point clear. "Of course, once you return, the structure of powers controlling the continents of the Green Cluster will have changed. Most likely, our continent won’t even be called Panpasin Continent anymore since the Panpasin Sect is likely to flee pretty soon. I heard from some reliable sources that the Panpasin Sect was unable to reach an agreement with the invaders."

*Clap!*

Bugel clapped his hands, ending that topic. "Alright, the point is that you, the future of our country, will be safe far away. If it is fine to return, I will let you all know. If not, I’m leaving it up to Ruberto to rebuild it later somewhere else."

Ruberto was the Vice-President of the Verjansy Country and a close friend of the president himself. It would be him who would be leading this group in the Galantes Country.

"You can count on me, brother," Ruberto said, his resolve firm.

"Good!" Bugel smiled in response. "Now, you all can get prepared. I hereby relieve you of your Soul Binding Contracts regarding the secrecy of this endeavor. At this point, it won’t matter anymore if others find out I’m sending you away. We will follow the schedule and teleport you at the end of the day, so you still have a few hours to do whatever you need."

The big group immediately began to disperse, although most didn’t want to take any chances and stayed nearby.

Wisfreya was one of them, rushing to Bugel to talk to him. "Wait, senior Bugel."

Bugel stopped for a moment, looking at her. "What is it?"

Wisfreya didn’t seem very happy. "I still don’t like the fact we gave up this easily, but I’m aware there is nothing our Verjansy Country could do alone. We are too small. Still, from what you said, could it be you are staying? You can’t possibly be thinking that, right?"

Bugel was taken aback for a moment, laughing in the next second. "Hahaha! Do you like this old man that much?"

Wisfreya was cold as ice. "Are you truly starting your jokes now?"

Bugel nodded and stopped. "Fine, fine. I’m sorry, kid, but I must stay."

"Why?" Few knew it, but the Bugel President was definitely the person she was closest to since she was taken by the Verjansy Country.

"Because that’s my duty," Bugel answered with conviction. "We are a democracy, remember? A democracy in the middle of a Cultivation World, how incredible. Do you have any idea just how rare countries like ours are? We have one election every hundred years, and it was me whom they chose in the last two. They trust me, they believe in me, so how could I leave them behind? I will stay and do all I can to keep my people out of harm’s way. It’s that simple."

"But..." Wisfreya still didn’t like it.

Bugel didn’t let her continue, though. "It is already decided. You shouldn’t care about me that much. Don’t forget I’m one of the guys who harvested your eggs, even if the intention was to have strong experts to help defend the country in the future. You should actually hold some grudge because of that, and I would have accepted. I don’t know why you don’t, but I’m thankful for that too. Just go, and if things turn out okay in the next few decades, you will be more than welcome to return. You can rely on Ruberto; I trust him as much as I trust myself."

"Sigh..." Wisfreya could only accept. It was obvious Bugel wouldn’t change his mind. "Okay. But there is one more thing I want to show you. Can you come with me for a moment?"

Bugel looked at the other officials who were waiting for him, nodding at them. "Go ahead. I will be with you in a moment."

Bugel then followed Wisfreya to another part of that facility on the back, noticing Rean and Foliana were also coming. Yet, when he arrived there, his eyes opened wide. "This... The Magical Eight?"

"And the two extras," Rean suddenly added, pointing at Gakrid and Rovitel on the back, who had incredible expressions on their faces.
