Death… And Me

Chapter 3820: It Can Be Used

Chapter 3820: It Can Be Used

A quasar was no joke, which explained why the Space-Time Realm experts were so afraid. It wasn’t just the ray of light coming out from that galaxy, but also the surrounding area. A quasar this close to its source was extremely poisonous to one’s body due to the unbelievably high radiation. Let’s not even talk about the other problems.

Staying around this area for a short time wouldn’t be much of a trouble, but the constant exposure to it was another story. Then again, it wasn’t like the experts couldn’t defend against it. They could simply make a Divine Energy barrier around their bodies, and that would shield them against the radiation.

The problem was the time. Everyone here was expected to work in this place’s surveillance for many years. Would they be able to keep themselves safe until then? No one knows.

Suddenly, another expert appeared, coming from the quasar’s direction and stopping in front of Pudarg. "Thank you for your efforts, Senior Pudarg. Are these the new guys?"

Pudarg nodded. "Yes, Ququt. Everyone in the Space-Time Realm in this batch is yours to take care of. Do with them whatever you like. Just make sure no gaps are found in the surveillance. We still haven’t captured the culprit for the Light Spreader destruction."

"As you wish," Ququt turned to Rean and the others, a total of sixty Space-Time Realm Experts. "All of you, follow me."

Some still wanted to say something, but seeing Pudarg’s dark expression, they gave up. They wouldn’t be able to leave this place anytime soon unless they decide to terminate their contracts. But that also meant they would never get another one in D33 and would have to leave.

Pudarg then left with the Divinity Realm Experts, so those in Rean’s group had to go after Ququt.

Ququt gathered his Divine Energy, creating a Divine Energy barrier. "Make sure to keep your Divine Energy reserves filled all the time so you won’t be affected by the radiation of the Quasar. As you can see, we are in the open space, so the Divine Energy here is pretty much nonexistent. Before you ask, yes, this is on purpose. It is part of the protection measures of the galaxy not to have much Divine Energy in the surroundings."

He continued. "If you see you are going to run out of Divine Energy, try to have someone to cover your position. No gaps can be left behind at any time. If you leave and there is no one to cover for you, you will be severely punished, and a big chunk of your payment will be discounted at the end of your contract. Well, you all signed for it, so you probably know that already."

As Ququt spoke more of the conditions, the experts began to narrow their eyes. They were getting awfully close to the Quasar, and naturally, the radiation levels increased several times due to that.

Eventually, Ququt approached another group of experts not too far from the Quasar, all of them gathered and waiting for him.

"Are these the new guys?"𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝚠𝚎𝚋𝗻𝗼𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝚘𝐦

"It’s about time!"

"Finally! I didn’t know how much longer I would be able to cope with this arrangement..."

They all seemed pretty happy to see the new group, and Ququt explained why. "Initially, there were sixty of them in this region, but as you can see, only twenty-seven remained. The rest died or gave up, which was pretty bad since that only increased the work for the remaining ones."

Ququt pointed forward. "Everyone who comes for the surveillance in this Quasar area first starts in the regions nearest to it, so that’s your job now. If any of you give up or die, we will know straight away, and the areas each of you has to watch over will increase. Hold your positions until the next batch in three hundred years, and you will be sent to safer areas in the Quasar region."

"And, before you ask, I was also one of them when I first got here. I don’t want to hear any complaints of unfairness. If you don’t believe me, this galaxy has its private network where one can find various useful information. You will be able to confirm my words easily."

Ququt then gave the order. "Well then, we already lost way too much time here. The newcomers will stay. Just check the network to see the exact area you need to watch over. As for those who are leaving, your next region is F7734. That’s all."

Ququt turned around, preparing to leave, but the newcomers obviously stopped him. Ququt wasn’t surprised, as that always happened.

Meanwhile, Wondlo talked to Rean through Divine Sense. ’What do you think, Xanfel?’

Xanfel shrugged. ’They are wasting their time. It is pointless to complain to Ququt about their roles. The Empire wasn’t wrong. The payment is definitely fit for this kind of job and our cultivation.’

Wondlo sighed. ’This is too risky. I don’t know if it will be worth it in my case.’

’That depends on what you intend to buy with your payment,’ Rean looked at him. ’If it isn’t anything that important, then my advice is for you to leave. Otherwise, bear with it and do your job. Anyway, I already know where I should position myself, so I’m going ahead.’

And so, Rean left, ignoring all the commotion. He wasn’t going to work on this anyway, after all.

The others saw Rean flying in the Quasar’s direction, and little by little, they followed suit. Ququt was adamant he wouldn’t change anyone, especially because he didn’t have the authority to do such a thing. "That’s enough for now. If you truly have something important to say, contact me through this galaxy’s private network. I’m out." And so, Ququt left with the previous batch of experts, leaving the rest behind.

---

Rean arrived at the area where he should watch over. The quasar was no more than a few thousand kilometers away, but he could already feel the incredible intensity of the radiation here. Just the temperature alone was crazy. One truly couldn’t drop their guard in this place... if they intended to stay.

’Well... how is it, Sister Orb?’ Rean asked, now focused on the Quasar.

[Yes. You are correct. It can be used.]
