Chapter 2388 Ancient Chaos(2)
Chapter 2388 Ancient Chaos(2)
Dragon Goddess Yeyou responded to Yuan's inquiry, her tone wary, "The Ancient Chaos is a singular existence of unfathomable power—one that came into being long before even I did. From the moment of its birth, it wields Void Manipulation with flawless mastery, and its cultivation already stands at the level of a Cultivation God."
"Though never confirmed, there are rumors that even if it is slain, it will one day reincarnate, retaining all of its past memories. To be frank, its existence is somewhat like yours. Completely abnormal."
"What is its purpose?" Yuan asked.
"The Ancient Chaos' purpose?" Dragon Goddess Yeyou murmured. "It lies within its very name—Chaos. It devours all things to strengthen itself. In that sense, it is similar to the Eater of Stars… yet it does not feast out of hunger. It devours simply because that is its nature."
"Since it was just reborn, it must have been killed before. I wonder who killed a monster like that," Yuan wondered out loud.
"..."
Dragon Goddess Yeyou returned to being quiet.
Not wanting to bother her any longer, Yuan stowed away his weapons and deactivated his Absolute Dragon Awakening.
"Although that thing is gone…"
Yuan's gaze shifted to the shattered remains of the black mountain—the Ancient Chaos' discarded shell—its fragments strewn across the land, still faintly leaking traces of Chaotic Essence.
He proceeded to absorb every last trace of Chaotic Essence until nothing remained. However, upon closer inspection of the shattered shell, he realized it possessed the potential to become an invaluable material. So, he gathered all of the shells and tossed them into his spatial ring.
<You have obtained Ancient Chaos' Shell>
Afterward, he returned to the Queen Wraith of Demise and said, "I've cleared out that energy as promised. You should honor your end of the bargain and let bygones be bygones."
"..."
The Queen Wraith of Demise remained silent. Yuan narrowed his eyes slightly and spoke again, this time in a colder voice, "Don't tell me you still want to fight?" The Queen Wraith of Demise closed her eyes and drew a slow, steady breath before replying in a resigned voice, "No… I will abide by my word and forgive you for slaughtering my children."
Though she did not voice it, after witnessing Yuan's overwhelming prowess and his command over Chaotic Essence, the very power her kind feared, she realized he could easily defeat them.
If she were to escalate things between them, it would only result in the extinction of her race.
Yuan nodded and said, "I will also promise not to attack any more Nether Wraiths for as long as I am within the Demise Ravine. Of course, that is if they don't attack us first."
"You need not worry about that, as I will guarantee that not a single one of my children will attack you from this point forth," said the Queen Wraith of Demise.
"I'm glad we managed to settle this without bloodshed. Then, I'll be taking my leave now."
Yuan turned around and flew away with Supreme Ruler Dena closely following behind.
The Queen Wraith of Demise did not follow and stayed behind.
"You're back!" Lev almost started crying when he saw Yuan and Supreme Ruler Dena, as he'd been alone with thousands of Nether Wraiths this entire time.
"We've settled things with the Queen Wraith of Demise, so we're leaving now," Yuan said to him.
Lev nodded and followed them.
Meanwhile, the Nether Wraiths completely ignored them and returned to their queen's side.
"They won't attack us again, right?" Lev asked as he watched them leave.
"Unless they want to die." "Then the rest of our journey through this Demise Ravine should be smooth sailing."
Sure enough, for the next several months, they were not bothered by any more Nether Wraiths. While they would occasionally spot some, the Nether Wraiths would only watch them from afar and never approach.
"I'm hungry." Supreme Ruler Dena suddenly said.
"I fed you not long ago," Yuan said.
"I used too much energy saving you."
"You only unleashed a single attack with Void Manipulation…"
"You wouldn't understand how much power I used because your level of Void Manipulation is lacking," she countered.
"..."
Yuan was left speechless, unable to refute her reasoning.
'I really need to improve my Void Manipulation soon…' he sighed inwardly.
"Go ahead."
Yuan pulled down the clothes around his neck.
Without hesitation, Supreme Ruler Dena jumped on his back and started feasting on his blood.
Yuan noticed Lev staring at them with an envious gaze and said to him a moment later, "I would let you taste my blood, but you'll likely regret it."
"Huh? What makes you say that?" Lev asked, looking confused.
"Because my blood contains Demon Sealing Aura. If you drink it, you'll likely be sealed."
"Then how come she's fine?" Lev pointed at Supreme Ruler Dena, who was sucking away without a care in the world.
"She's strong enough to ignore it."
"That's it?"
"That's all."
Of course, Yuan could unseal him if Lev got sealed, but since it would be a hassle, he decided not to say anything.
Luckily, Lev no longer dared to drink his blood.
Eventually, they reached the end of the Demise Ravine. But since they started traveling from the end, they were technically exiting from the entrance. "I'm so glad we're finally out of that place…" Lev released a deep sigh after they escaped the place.
"Now where to?" Yuan asked Supreme Ruler Dena.
Supreme Ruler Dena pondered for a moment before pointing in a certain direction.
"The closest city should be in that direction."
They followed the direction she pointed at shortly later.
Meanwhile, somewhere in the Starry Sky…
"That was a little dangerous…" The Ancient Chaos sighed aloud once it confirmed it was safe.
"That bastard called Yuan… just what the hell is he? How can a mere human use Eternal Essence? And that familiar scent on him… Is he related to that monster?"
The Ancient Chaos trembled just at the thought of that 'monster'.
"No matter! Once I regain my strength and mature into my true form, I will surely devour him!" he swore loudly as he continued drifting deeper into the Starry Sky.
