Chapter 361
Chapter 361: The Most Striking Force
A stretch of tall, thick, and staunch rampart wall towered around the outskirts of Yulee for the protection over the central governmental city, to have formed an overwhelming sense of majesty amongst the vicissitudes over the past centuries.
While numerous guarding soldiers wearing leather armors and holding swords and spears were standing straight in a row of thirty by the entrance, inspecting the travelers passing to and fro the city.
Riding on the dwelling, Qian Jin made a deep sigh at the gate not far away from him. It had been three months since he left here, during which time uncountable life-or-death situations had occurred.
Three months ago, he came to the Qian Family, with an aim of picking up his father and Luna. Accidentally, he defeated several bloodline warriors of the Qian Family and thus, proved to the world that the warriors from the ultimate bloodline families were not all powerful.
Lamentingly, he didn’t follow through on his goal of taking away his father and Luna.
“The Qian Family…” Qian Jin took a long breath and looked to Lucifer Lucy riding by his side, who turned a deaf ear to his prevention but came with him bravely. “The next time I go there, things will be totally different.”
“Stop here. Show me your…it’s you!”
All of a sudden, the guarding soldier who had stepped forward glared his eyes as big as if they were going to fall off the eye sockets. A light of panic danced in his pupils and the imperious temperament disappeared as he was stepping back ceaselessly.
Qian Jin frowned while deliberating on this strange soldier. Then it dawned on him that he was one of the city-guarding soldiers who found troubles with Rosella when they were trying to get into the city last time. Well, they met again three months later at the same place. However, Qian Jin couldn’t recall himself saying or taking much action during their last encounter. It seemed to be Fabreidis who dealt with everything.
Hehe…Qian Jin shook his head and smiled faintly, wondering why these people kept such a good memory. He just showed up few seconds when rolling up the curtain of the carriage during their last encounter.
Seeing the strange behavior of the first soldier, several other guarding soldiers lifted up their legs trying to walk out, just to find that they were stopped by the first soldier who then cringed at the coming visitors. “You don’t need to go through the inspection. Please come in.”
“Thanks.” Qian Jin nodded while sitting on the horse. “She is my friend…”
“She doesn’t need to either.” The soldier said aloud, opened his arms to stop the other soldiers and scolded them in a low voice, “Are you people courting death? He came along with Fabreidis last time. I heard from one of my relatives that he had joined the Torrent Battle Fort.”
The other several soldiers had shocked expression and shrunk back as if having been hit by a thunderclap. Three years ago, the name of Torrent Battle Fort was still ranked last among the eight forces of Yulee. Even the commoners in Yulee State would make jokes of the Torrent Battle Fort to refer to someone who was in declining in status or strength as “you’re more like the Torrent Battle Fort.”
Unexpectedly, the leader of the Ray Family, as well as his daughter, Ray Yue, who was crowned as the Angel of the Wicked Moon, died three months ago.
It aroused heated attention in Yulee State. As the high-ranking people from one of the eight forces in Yulee, the cause for their deaths shouldn’t have been kept secret.
However, none of the people in Yulee knew the cause of their deaths. Even the people who came to the mourning ceremony didn’t see the corpse of the leader of the Ray Family.
With the death of the Ray Family leader, the business of Torrent Battle Fort was seeing large and quick expansion, among which the vast majority came from the Rays’ channels. Just when everyone else bet that the members of the Ray Family would be exasperated to make an immediate fight back, the Ray Family were silent and showed acquiescence upon the Torrent Battle Fort’s behaviors.
Then here came the rumor that the family leader of the Rays was beaten to death by Fabreidis.
At this saying, many people just turned a sniffing attitude. How could the Ray Family keep silent if it was Fabreidis who killed their family leader? Wouldn’t they take revenge on Fabreidis? After all, Fabreidis was just an ordinary warrior, not a bloodline warrior.
If Fabreidis was powerful enough to kill the leader of the Ray Family so effortlessly, why didn’t he lead his troops to wipe out the Rays directly? Though it was against the national law, in the case of grappling for benefits, no one would give a shit about the laws or regulations.
The truth had been nowhere to be found, but the other seven forces of Yulee showed an acquiesced approval for the expansion of Torrent Battle Fort. Even the mayor of Yulee, who never dropped in the Torrent Battle Fort in the past, had visited more than ten times over the past three months.
At this moment, no one could say for sure which the greatest force in Yulee was. But one thing no one could deny was that Torrent Battle Fort, which used to rank bottom among the eight forces in Yulee, had now become the most powerful force.
“Well.” Lucifer Lucy looked at Qian Jin smilingly. “You’re famous here.”
Qian Jin paid no attention to this demon girl. During their time spent together over the past days, he developed a full understanding of her temperament. That was, she would turn everything he replied, either positive or negative, into something flirtatious. The feeling of being flirted with? Bad. It became worse than being fooled by a demon. However, he couldn’t seize her and do bad things to her……
“You’d better remain a low key.” Qian Jin strolled around one street he was not familiar with. “Watch out not to be discovered and caught by others.”
“Will you come to rescue me?”
“Don’t give me that.” Qian Jin switched the horsewhip to ride faster toward the Torrent Battle Fort.
Among the eight most discerning places in Yulee was the Torrent Battle Fort, which had become the number one landmark of Yulee, easier to be found than the mansion of the mayor.
Standing outside the Torrent Battle Fort, Qian Jin shook his head at the newly painted outer wall and said to himself that Uncle Marc Gavin was really trendy. Had the Torrent Battle Fort made large fortunes? It seemed not. So how could he hire people to paint the entire outer wall of the Torrent Battle Fort? Was he giving up on leading a normal life?
“Qian…Qian Jin…”
Zachery, tall and strong as he was, flushed at the sight of Qian Jin. Then he stepped towards Qian Jin and grasped Qian Jin’s hands to drag him into the Torrent Battle Fort. “Follow me, quickly. It has been three months since we last met. Where have you been these days? We pulled endless strings to search for you and got the news that you went to the Qian Family and fought with them. Was that true?”
Hearing this, Qian Jin ceased his quick movements. Did the Qian Family seal the news? It couldn’t have been so hard for the Torrent Battle Fort to inquire about information of the outside world, though it couldn’t be compared with the Qian Family in overall strength. Besides, Uncle Zachery was speaking in an inquisitive way, indicating that he wasn’t sure of the news he was informed of.
Feeling the change of Qian Jin, Zachery stopped walking and turned back at Qian Jin, “you…are you meaning that…you had…”
“Um, that was true.” Qian Jin nodded. “I fought with the Qian family members.”
“It is so lucky that you are fine…” Zachery took a long sigh, “we heard that you were severely hurt and were dying. On hearing this, Mr. Fabreidis immediately took his sword to head for the Qian Family. Marc Gavin was also tempted to go with him.”
“What?” Qian Jin felt a sudden headache, as Fabreidis was growing more courageous since he reached the saint level. Thinking it inappropriate for him to go to the Qian Family, Qian Jin asked, “Did he go there in the end?”
Zachery shook his head with a worried look. “He was about to go when the messenger said that the news was very likely to be false. It was said that you had nearly killed the Level 9 Demon Slayer Qian Chenyu, on hearing which these two lords decided to wait for you here. It’s so lucky that you have come back, or else they may leave for the Qian Family before the final news comes…”
“Get out of my way. Don’t you people know that I’m the president of Torrent Battle Fort? Who dares to stand in my way…”
Bang…crash…
A string of clashing sounds made by human body knocking onto wood furniture came from deep in the Torrent Battle Fort, coupled with all kinds of voices dissuading Fabreidis from going off.
“Mr. Fabreidis, let’s wait for some time since we’re not sure whether the news is true…”
“Mr. President, it is the inviolable Qian Family. It’s not worth it doing so for the little Qian Jin…”
“Not worth it? He is the future leader of the Torrent Battle Fort. Do you still regard him unworthy?”
Qian Jin goggled at Fabreidis and Marc Gavin striding forward despite the ongoing dissuasion from the crowd. When did he become the future leader of Torrent Battle Fort? Why didn’t I know this?
Qian Jin saw Marc Gavin knocking away another dissuader and felt greatly grateful for this uncle who insisted on going to the Qian Family dauntlessly, despite the potential danger of instigating the Zence Empire…
“My uncles, where are you heading in such a hurry?”
…
…
The boisterous hall was filled with sheer silence again. Looking at Qian Jin appearing by the gate, everyone made a long exhale out of anxiousness.
“Haha, Qian Jin.” Marc Gavin lifted his sturdy arms to push aside the crowd of people standing in his way, strode forward quickly and pulled Qian Jin into his arms. “It’s been three months since we departed. I was really worried about you.”
As Marc Gavin’s jumbo arms hit Qian Jin on his back, a heavy drum-like bang was made.
Qian Jin beckoned the entirety of strength in his arms and wrapped the bear-like leader of Torrent Battle Fort against his chest.
“Ouch. Why have you grown so much strength? Oh my waist, my waist…boy, I’m an elderly person. Treat me gently, gently…”
An elated look was smeared on Marc Gavin’s bear-like face. Patting Qian Jin on the shoulder with his big hands, he kept looking up and down, “Hehe…you seem to have become sturdier. Hehe…nice…”
Fabreidis raised his hand to punch on Qian Jin’s shoulder lightly and wore a spoiling smile on his face. “You really have become sturdier. Why didn’t you send a mercenary to bring me news about you? See? I have grown white hair worrying about you.”
“Dear uncle, you have long grown white hair.” Qian Jin held back his smile, opened his arms to wrap Fabreidis, and said, “I’m sorry for having you worry.”
“It’s good that you know. You cannot do this again. Even if you are in the human-demon battlefront, you ought to send me news every week.” Fabreidis loosened his arms and started looking around. At the sight of Lucifer Lucy, he displayed a puzzled expression. “Where are those boys?”
