Chapter 2061: Fully Independent
Chapter 2061: Fully Independent
The puppet shot straight at Grey after getting the order from the lady, striking out with a lightning blade, aiming to cut Grey’s head clean off with a single move.
The lady observed Grey’s reaction when the puppet charged at him, and for a split second, all she saw in his eyes was excitement. The eyes which had only displayed coldness ever since she laid her eyes on them were now showing a different emotion, and it was from being attacked by such a powerful being.
The lady did not see wrong, Grey indeed became excited at the prospect of fighting a Peak Sovereign. He was now a Ninth stage Sovereign, a powerhouse close to the very peak of this world. When he was an Eighth stage Sovereign, he managed to kill a few Peak Sovereigns, but that was with the aid of others. With his current strength, he wanted to know if he could handle a Peak Sovereign on his own.
Instead of dodging, Grey clenched his right fist which was covered in blue flames and punched at the lightning blade.
Bang!
A loud explosion rang out, accompanied by a figure being sent flying.
Bam!
The figure slammed into the ground hard, but quickly got back to his feet again. The figure was naturally Grey, and it was evident he lost out in that head to head clash just now.
He shook off the dust from his body before charging straight into the sky to clash with the puppet once again.
Boom! Bam! Bang!
In a matter of seconds, Grey and the puppet had exchanged hundreds of moves, tearing the very fabric of space due to their shocking strength. Grey was also sent flying a couple more times, but he did not sustain any significant injuries.
Watching the duo clash, the lady felt a sense of apprehension. Now she understood even when it seemed like Grey was giving it his all before, he had barely used his full strength. Watching him battle this Peak Sovereign made her understand that, maybe, just maybe, this young man actually has hope of defeating a Peak Sovereign.
"No wonder we were warned to run away the second we see him. He’s a monster!" The lady muttered under her breath.
The other four close to her nodded in agreement. After the lady brought out the puppet, they immediately broke up the formation so as not to continue burning their blood essence. A few of them who looked healthy a few minutes ago now had gray hair and wrinkles all over their faces. Even the lady was no exception, the toll of burning their blood essence for such an extended period was alarming.
"Why is he so strong?" The middle-aged man who was the first to attack Grey, no longer looked like a middle-aged man, instead, he looked like an old man with one foot in the grave.
"His father is Lucas Dawson, his mother is also a freak, did you expect them to give birth to a normal person?" The lady gave the most plausible explanation.
"But he has used six elements since he started the fight, that’s unheard of." One of the other men pointed out.
"Six? I thought the information said five?" The lady’s eyes widened in shock. It’s common knowledge how difficult it was for a person to be born with more than one affinity to an element. Having two would make said Elementalist be considered talented. Those with three and four and considered the favored children of the world. Although very rare, there have been a few points in history where there were Elementalists with five elements.
Seeing a person use six elements right before their eyes was an eyeopener.
During their discussions, the battle between Grey and the puppet raged on, and it was getting more and more intense.
The puppet was fully covered in lightning, and it even used its lightning domain to enhance the effects of its attacks. It was clear to see that when the puppet was still alive, he was a top expert with great battle sense.
Grey, knowing that he might lose out on speed, employed his earth domain, while also using his gravitational force field. A dust-like visible cloud covered a region of around seven hundred meters, and inside the cloud were tiny lightning arcs moving around like snakes. It was a beautiful sight to behold, just as it was deadly.
The puppet attacked with a rain of lightning, and just as Grey focused on blocking the attack, the puppet suddenly appeared within a meter of him, kicking out with its right leg.
Grey wanted to use his space element to escape, but the puppet’s lightning was so strong that it immediately shattered any form of spatial tunnel he created. This in turn forced him to take the attacks head-on.
A thin veil of ice appeared above him to block the lightning rain, while he hastily moved to the side in an attempt to dodge the attack.
The puppet’s kick struck him cleanly by the ribs, sending him flying once again in their bout. This time, the puppet did not even wait for him to land before it unleashed another barrage of attacks. Lightning snakes as thick as a human body charged after Grey.
Grey, who was still reeling from the impact of the kick, managed to steady himself in time to not slam into the ground. He dodged the first lightning snake by a hair’s breadth, before being chased by the remaining two.
His figure blitzed through the sky, with the lightning snakes in hot pursuit. The puppet did not stop there, it quickly destroyed Grey’s earth domain which had already lost its source; Grey. After achieving this, it rushed after Grey behind the lightning snakes.
As Grey fled across the battlefield, one question kept repeating itself in his mind...
Who the hell was controlling this thing!
The common knowledge about puppets was that they needed a master to be present to control it, bringing out the best of its capabilities. This was the reason Grey thought the lady was a Necromancer when she brought out the puppet. However, he had tried to use his usual trick, not to take down the puppet, but to see if there was a possibility of doing that in case things went south. Yet for some reason, he could not find anything linking the puppet to anyone, which meant it was fully independent.
