Chapter 1821: The Sixth Son
Chapter 1821: The Sixth Son
"I've lost both the Absolute Resonance Seed and the Absolute Resonance Halo, so how can I be considered the Sect Master of the Sacred Void Resonance?" said Li Luo as if mocking himself.
Yan Changsheng attentively replied, "According to the Sacred Void Resonance Sect's rules, in the absence of a Sect Master, whoever obtains a Ten Divine Seal Absolute Resonance Halo will automatically ascend to that position and obtain all the rights associated with the title. Thus, the moment you obtained the Ten Seals Absolute Resonance Halo, you effectively became the current generation's Sect Master. If you wish to abdicate yourself from the position, it will require the Six Sons to gather all of the sect's elders to take a vote. Every single vote must be in favor in order for you to lose the position."
Su Ying lightly smiled as she continued, "As of today, it's probably impossible to fulfill that condition. Even though you no longer have the Absolute Resonance Seed, the ruins should have already recognized your identity. Obtaining the Ten Divine Seals is an achievement worth considering, and it will not be ignored even if circumstances change. Therefore, there's no need to belittle yourself."
Li Luo was taken aback by their words. As he looked at the ruins greatly revered by the countless Heavenly Emperors, he took a deep breath and made his decision. Whether or not the ruins recognized him as the Sect Master, he would have to enter and find the answer to deal with the Dark Sect Master.
He no longer hesitated—he directly stepped forward into the void as everyone watched nervously and made his way into the ruins. As he approached, the protective formation emitted a terrifying rumbling noise that contained enough power to annihilate a Heavenly Emperor. It was as though it was warning him not to come any closer.
The expressions of the Heavenly Emperors changed. Didn't it seem like the formation wasn't recognizing Li Luo's identity?
"Uncle Changsheng and Aunt Ying, the formation won't harm Little Luo, right?" Tantai Lan couldn't help but ask.
The couple frowned. The reaction of the formation seemed a little intense and contrary to their expectations. Had problems cropped up after being inactive for so long? Had it diverged from the sect's rules?
Yan Changsheng sighed deeply and responded, "Let's watch for a bit. If something happens, we'll be the first to lend a hand."
There was no other option at this point.
While the Heavenly Emperors watched silently, ready to take action, Li Luo continued to observe the ancient formation. The aura emanating from it was becoming increasingly dangerous, but his expression was ever so calm. He disregarded the formation's rumbling and approached the ruins.
Weng!
A moment later, the protection formation let out a devastating roar akin to an enraged primordial beast. Terrifying power surged, and the sounds echoed through the world. It was as though it was demonstrating the former glory of the sect to the world.
A blast of light shot violently towards Li Luo, giving off an ancient aura. Heavenly Emperor Jiang and the rest instantly took action in response. However, Li Luo stretched his palm out towards the archaic blast of energy. No power of any sort was condensed within his palm, which scared everyone else to death. How was he going to block it?
What happened next shocked everyone. The annihilative blast of energy that roared like a prehistoric beast rapidly began to subside as it approached Li Luo. By the time it came into contact with his palm, it disintegrated into a sky of pretty fireworks that lit up the world.
Li Luo raised his head, taking in the view of the dazzling energy fireworks. The scene before him was a grand celebration meant to welcome the new Sect Leader. His calm mind was finally shaken as he directed his gaze towards the ruins of the sect. There were countless blurry figures of light within the majestic gates. All of them wore the robes of the Sacred Void Resonance Sect and had exceptional demeanors.
Their gazes seemed to pierce through space and time, greeting Li Luo outside. They then bowed deferentially, loudly yelling, "Greetings, Sect Master."
Joy surfaced in Heavenly Emperor Jiang's eyes. It was as Su Ying and Yan Changsheng had said—the ruins had acknowledged Li Luo's identity. Li Taixuan and Tan Tailan finally heaved sighs of relief as well.
Meanwhile, Li Luo also clasped his fist respectfully in response to the figures of light, despite the fact that they were just echoes of the past and not living people. A rainbow emerged from within the ruins and landed right before him, like a pathway.
He didn't hesitate to step onto the rainbow pathway, entering the ancient ruins that had been lost in time. The sect's protective formation remained silent as he approached, offering no sign of resistance.
"We will guard him," said Yan Changsheng and Su Ying.
Li Luo's current state was unique, and no one knew just what sort of dangers were lurking within the ruins. The others couldn't enter, so they could only rely on the couple.
"We'll have to trouble the two of you," Li Taixuan said gratefully.
Two Divine Fruit Heavenly Emperors would be more than sufficient to deal with any unexpected situations. Heavenly Emperor Jiang also informed the other Heavenly Emperors to seal off the area with their Authority, preventing any unauthorized individuals from trespassing.
Yan Changsheng and Su Ying flickered forward, appearing right behind Li Luo as they accompanied him. They then entered the ruins before everyone's hopeful eyes. A light fog arose around them, blocking the view of everyone else.
Heavenly Emperor Jiang lightly exhaled as he quietly watched them disappear. They had done all they could to find the ruins, and their job ended here. The baton had been passed to Li Luo to see if he could find the answer they needed. This was truly their last hope.
......
Within the ancient and tranquil ruins.
Li Luo slowly walked forward, curiously observing his surroundings. This was the sect that had shone the brightest throughout the long history of the divine continents, and every single magnificent construct still exuded a sense of awe despite the passing of time.
During the sect's prime, this location was a holy land that all experts and geniuses of the divine continents desired to visit. Only the most outstanding individuals were allowed to cultivate here.
Walking beside Li Luo, Yan Changsheng and Su Ying had thoughtful expressions as they explored the familiar landscape. Up until now, the only way they could visit this place was by digging into their memories.
"The sect's ruins do not seem damaged in the slightest. It looks as though something terrifying occurred at the very last moment all those years ago," Li Luo suddenly said.
The Sacred Void Resonance Sect's destruction must have been instantaneous and unexpected. There must have been countless experts present here, yet everyone had been erased in the blink of an eye, and the ruins were then sealed away for ages to come. Just what sort of fearsome thing had happened?
In retrospect, after considering the evidence that remained, perhaps the destruction of the Sacred Void Resonance Sect was due to the confrontation between the Sect Master, the Origin of Absolute Corruption, and the Dark Sect Master. Those three terrifying beings had engaged in an all-out brawl that even obliterated ordinary Heavenly Emperors as collateral damage.
Yan Changsheng and Su Ying's eyes were filled with agony and bitterness. It was hard to imagine the sheer panic and fear that had flooded the sect's disciples at the time.
"Let's head to the Palace of Stars. That was the most important location in the sect; it was where the Sect Master always secluded herself for cultivation. The spatial fog resonance should be there as well." Yan Changsheng sighed.
Li Luo lifted his head to look at the horizon. There, a massive golden palace stood tall among the clouds. It was extremely grandiose, overlooking the entire sect and the world. Fog still permeated the ruins, likely produced by the fog resonance. It gave the entire space a mystifying appearance.
The ruins were likely to contain rare cultivation resources, such as incomprehensibly high-grade spirit pills, spirit liquids and purifying lights, as well as treasured artifacts. Peak Duke Arts that were passed down within the Sacred Void Resonance Sect could also be found within.
All of these resources could easily drive any mortal power wild with greed. That said, Li Luo had no interest in any of it at this time. The resources were not the answer he was seeking. That was why he directly made his way towards the golden palace without slowing down.
There was a series of jade steps in front of a hall, spotless and immaculate despite the passing of time. Ancient inscriptions and runes filled their surfaces, giving off vast energy undulations with their own unique charm. When the trio arrived at the jade steps, a crisp ring from a bell echoed, breaking the silence.
This shocked the trio, and they raised their heads to look at the location at the end of the steps. The obscuring fog gradually started to dissipate, and a figure was revealed. Had someone managed to survive within the ruins of the sect after all this time?
As the bell continued to chime, a slender bare foot stepped out. Its skin was as white as snow, and a golden bell hung from a red sash wrapped around the ankle. A clear chime could be heard with every step. A petite figure was revealed, standing at the top of the steps, peering down at the trio.
It was a red-robed young lady with a bright and beautiful face, wearing a purple necklace around her fair neck. Her black eyes were filled with liveliness and were suddenly flooded with complex emotions upon seeing the trio.
"Ah, Big Bird and Ah Ying. I never would have thought that I would be able to meet you again," she said, her melodious voice quietly echoing throughout the ruins.
Yan Changsheng and Su Ying were utterly shocked upon seeing the red-robed lady. They said, "Ling Shu? You've been in the sect this whole time?"
Li Luo's eyes flickered. Ling Shu? Was that the name of this red-robed lady? Despite not knowing, he immediately identified who she was. The only way someone would dare to call Yan Changsheng, a Divine Fruit Heavenly Emperor of the Golden Winged Peng race, a "Big Bird" was if they had similar strength. Thus, she was none other than the last member of the Void Resonance's Six Sons, Ling Shu.
