Chapter 1174 - West Duke's Real Colors
Chapter 1174: West Duke’s Real Colors
Jun Xiqing stretched her hand out, plucking one of the rosary peas. She suddenly had this crazy idea, was he actually fond of another woman?
Clenching the pea in her hand tightly, Jun Xiqing stepped out of the secret passageway. At the end of the passageway was a place of high altitude. Jun Xiqing walked outside, the cold wind blowing her beautiful face.
She could actually see the entire of Country A standing at that place.
Standing there, almost every part of Country A was so small and insignificant. She felt as though Country A was trampled under her feet.
She could imagine the amount of ambition and greed in Lu Yeming when he stood there. He was really born to be a ruler.
Lifting her eyes, she saw a palace far away. “Ah Da, what is that?”
She pointed at it.
“Master, although the power has been distributed to the four dukes in Country A, there is still an old palace with a king living inside. Although the four dukes have been working hard to increase their sphere of influence, they have never once tried to barge inside the Palace and take over the King.
“It is said that this King is the real power-wielding ruler of Country A. He has a pair of deep-set eyes that could look through everyone’s ambitions even in the dark, making one feel like they have nowhere to hide.”
Jun Xiqing smiled.
She was an atheist who would never believe in such stuff.
“Master, let’s hurry up and leave Country A. The Wuling Iron Steed Troop are already waiting at the pier,” Ah Da said.
Jun Xiqing was a little disappointed. She had been in contact with West Duke, Lu Yeming for quite some time and yet she hadn’t been able to see even one side of his true self. But today, passing through this secret passageway, she somehow felt that she had been able to understand him a bit more.
In Country A, a place with such strong power rivalry, there was still an old, mysterious palace standing. That really was eerie.
Now that Country Z had been taken away by Lei Ze and the Jun family had turned into fugitives, she really was powerless by herself. If she were to be dragged into a battle of power rivalry, she could only be a pawn in this game and couldn’t do anything about it.
“Ah Da,” Jun Xiqing suddenly spoke.
“Master, what’s the matter?”
Jun Xiqing answered, “I have an ominous feeling somehow. I could feel from the very first moment when I stepped into Country A that I wouldn’t be able to leave this place. Put my elder brother down, I’ll go separately from him.”
“Master, what do you mean?”
Jun Xiqing’s eyes gleamed. “I’m going to leave my elder brother in a safe place.”
Then her voice became gentle as she said, “I’ll always have a way of keeping my family safe and united in this chaotic world.”
…
West Palace.
Lu Yeming rushed back with Fan Men and when Fan Men saw the fainted maids, his expression changed. “Master.”
Lu Yeming ran upstairs.
Arriving in front of the door, Fan Men wanted to follow him in but Lu Yeming signalled for him to stop. Fan Men quickly stepped aside and Lu Yeming strode inside.
The door to the secret room was open.
Lu Yeming’s face was somber, stepping inside the secret room.
It was really quiet inside when he stepped inside his footsteps could be heard so clearly. Scanning around with his deep-set eyes, Jun Chulin had indeed gone missing.
But he wasn’t concerned about that, not even raising a brow at his disappearance. With quickened footsteps, he walked over to the rows of red peas.
Looking at the red peas that were all well, only then did he relax a little.
But a stalk of the red pea had loosened soil.
Bending over, he pressed the soil down lightly and when he lowered his eyes to do that, he was concentrated and ever so gentle…
…
At the harbor.
Jun Xiqing and Ah Da stood at the pier, the 12 officers of the Wuling Iron Steed Troop followed behind them.
The night breeze blew around, Ah Da asked an officer, “Where’s Ah Xiao, why isn’t she here yet? She’s constantly being a burden at such important times.”
“Brother.” Ah Xiao ran over.
“Ah Xiao, why are you so late?” Ah Da questioned her with a stern tone.
“Brother, I had a stomach ache so I was a little late, don’t be so fierce.” Ah Xiao pulled on Ah Da’s sleeves as she said.
“Ah Da, let’s just quickly leave this place first.” Jun Xiqing turned back to check behind, it was pitch dark and somewhat creepy.
She could sense something… amiss.
“Master, this way,” Ah Da said.
Jun Xiqing walked in front.
But just after taking a step, she heard something. It was the sound of a sharp knife stabbing inside human flesh, it was soft but really clear, making one have goosebumps just hearing it.
Jun Xiqing turned back to check, only to see a knife in Ah Da’s chest. The knife was stabbed inside from the back, piercing through his heart.
The person holding the knife was… Ah Xiao.
Ah Da turned around, looking at Ah Xiao in disbelief. “Ah Xiao, you…”
Ah Xiao no longer appeared like her old, innocent self, her entire face vicious as she said, “Brother, you should be glad that at least you had a meaningful death. I’ll become West Duke’s consort soon.”
Ah Da spat out a mouthful of blood and collapsed.
“Ah Da!”
Jun Xiqing screamed, quickly catching Ah Da. She applied some pressure on Ah Da’s chest, with the blood staining her hands and burning her skin.
Ah Da looked at Jun Xiqing. Though he wanted to speak, before he could even say anything, he no longer had any breath left in him.
Even upon his death, Ah Da’s eyes remained open.
Tears sprang from Jun Xiqing’s eyes. Ah Da had been with her for many years and was one of her closest friends.
“Ahhh!”
She hugged Ah Da while she whimpered, her hands filled with blood as she held him tightly. She slowly lifted her eyes and glared at Ah Xiao.
“He’s your biological elder brother, how could you!”
Ah Xiao sneered at her. “He is my biological elder brother, but he’s just your lackey!”
A few beams of light shone over and a few bulletproof cars approached. The car in the front-most position stopped and Fan Men opened the back door. A pair of heavy military boots first appeared, followed by a pair of long legs and a cropped jacket with a black turtleneck sweater. A handsome face appeared last.
Lu Yeming had arrived.
His handsome face was emotionless, except for those deep-set eyes that were just as sharp and piercing as an eagle. He lifted his head, his gaze landing on her tear-filled face.
Jun Xiqing’s heart sank. This was her first time seeing the true colors of this man. He was just like Satan who came out from the darkest pits of hell.
Dignified, haughty and ruthless.
