Chapter 1610

Chapter 1610: Section 1611 Devil Gourmet

“Indeed.”

As Angel was focusing on Trom, he heard Greya's voice by his ear.

Greya slightly furrowed her brows, eyes fixated on the deathly still Asaz, her expression unusually serious.

Angel followed her gaze.

Previously, because he was watching Trom, he hadn't paid attention to Asaz. Now, facing him directly, Angel couldn't help but frown as well.

On Asaz's body, there was a familiar fluctuation that Angel felt. Unlike the obscure concealed energy on Trom, Angel almost immediately analyzed the source of the fluctuations on Asaz.

“A demon?” Angel murmured in surprise.

Greya turned her head: “You sensed it too? Oh, I almost forgot, you previously stirred up a big storm in Lassudral, and it's still causing waves to this day.”

Greya paused, then nodded: “Indeed, it's Demonic Power.”

Angel had seen too many demons, alive and dead, from those as large as mountains to small Flower Demons; he had encountered them all. In fact, he had good relations with some demons, such as the Half-Blood Demon Canaan and the young Fire Demon Greerwu.

Because of his familiarity with demons, Angel immediately recognized the source of the fluctuations on Asaz's body.

Definitely from a demon.

“That's right, Asaz has never hidden his nature, and he's even nicknamed Devil Gourmet.” Angel looked at Greya: “However, the demonic fluctuations in him are a bit strange, they seem to originate from himself, yet they don't quite seem like it. Could it be, he's the offspring of a demon and a human?”

“If he really were the offspring of a demon and a human, the members of the Extreme Sect would have already made their move,” said Greya: “It must be a tribute to a demon.”

A tribute to a demon? Angel was aware that some wizards kept some minor demons as slaves, but this was the first time he heard about someone making a tribute to a demon.

Demons, by nature, are adverse to humans and rarely co-exist peacefully with them. Angel was an exception as when he had his shop in Lassudral, a major powerhouse was stationed next door.

Greya's expression darkened somewhat: “Tributing a demon is a type of rogue gastronomic practice.”

“A long time ago, Candy House had a very close relationship with a grande entity–Lord Fallen Star–who once talked about tributing demons. This practice originally came from the Northern Territory Wizard World.”

The combat capabilities of those in the culinary field are generally recognized as weak by all realms of the Wizard World.

Some Gourmet Sorcerers have painstakingly pondered how to acquire powerful combat abilities, eventually coming up with one method: tributing demons.

To use culinary arts as a tribute to demons, gaining powerful strength through demons.

Tributing demons is somewhat similar to worshipping Demon Gods, but they are essentially different. Once one worships a Demon God, they hand over their entire future to the Demon God, never expecting to tread the path of truth. Although demons are also cunning and evil, even more murderous than Demon Gods, attributing to demons at least doesn't sever the path to future possibilities.

“This sounds a bit like Sinistra's abilities, doesn't it?” Angel remarked.

Sinistra can summon warriors from Otherworld through tributing culinary arts to fight for her. Leverage the power of these warriors to enhance her own combat abilities.

“Indeed, they both rely on external forces. However, Sinistra's lineage is very orthodox, and the warriors she summons from Otherworld are entirely under her control, without any deceptive acts. But tributing to demons is different; it is not easy to control the nature of demons who inherently bear enmity towards humans.”

Although demons will not cut off your future path like Demon Gods, they use various means to tempt you, twist your will, and vacate your thoughts, making you indulge in the cycles of greed and desire.

Once you can't hold on and start dancing with demons, what's the difference between that and having a Demon God cutting off your future path?

As for making it through?

According to Lord Meteor Fall, the Gourmet World in the Northern Territory might well be termed the Dark Gourmet World.

In the Northern Territory, Gourmet Sorcerers are treated like heretics by all other wizards.

From this, one could infer that under the temptation of demons, the Gourmet Sorcerers who withstand are exceedingly few.

“Actually, whether you fall into corruption or not, most wizards don't have the leisure to bother about you. In the Wizards' Realm, the boundaries between good and evil are not so distinct; whether you indulge in desires or immerse in deep study, it doesn't matter,” Greya paused then turned her head to Angel: “But the Gourmet Sorcerers who sacrifice to demons are detested and loathed by all other wizards. Do you know why?”

Recalling Kavoline's appearance, Angel already had an inkling of the answer in his mind.

“Cannibalism.” Greya, with disgust flashing in her eyes, directly stated the answer Angel also had in mind.

“And not just any ordinary people.”

Sacrificing to demons, ordinary food could not possibly suffice. And humans, especially those wizards who are Transcendent, constitute the premier ingredients for demons.

Having had encounters with demons, Angel understood well, not all demons desire to consume humans. However, making contributors use humans as ingredients also serves to distinguish Gourmet Sorcerers from other wizards, doesn't it? The cunning demons naturally revel in this.

“Turning humans into ingredients, ironically, this trick was also taught to the demons by the Gourmet Sorcerers.” Greya looked at Asaz on the arena: “Kavoline's situation has said it all, since the demon that Asaz sacrifices to has learned this method of turning humans into ingredients, it means they have begun to consume humans.”

When Greya reached this point, her eyes looking at Asaz carried a fierce glare: “I will not allow such fallen Gourmet Sorcerers to emerge in the Southern Domain Wizard World.”

Greya knew all too clearly, once sacrificing to demons becomes a trend in the Southern Domain, it would greatly undermine the culinary department. By then, the status of Gourmet Sorcerers might fall even more miserably than at present.

Angel saw the murderous intent in Greya's expression, and from her words, he also understood her concerns.

However, while Angel gazed at Asaz, he felt something else entirely.

Although Asaz radiated gloomy demonic fluctuations, his expression was unusually calm, as if standing under the warm sunshine.

“I, on the other hand, feel that Asaz's gaze doesn't seem like one who has fallen.” Angel said softly.

Angel's words made Greya unconsciously look into Asaz's eyes.

Asaz appeared to be a man nearing his thirties, but his eyes were pure, like a youth's. Even purer than his actual young opponent — Trom.

Greya: “Eyes can also be disguised.”

“But why would he disguise them?” Angel: “On the stage of the new star competition, there are many more ferocious than him. There's no need for him to pretend.”

Asaz would not know that there's a Gourmet Sorcerer among the audience today who might harbor lethal intentions towards him, so there's no need for him to disguise himself.

As they spoke, the countdown to the match officially ended.

Asaz and Trom formally began their face-off.

Right after Asaz started, a dim Phantom Shadow slowly rose from him, eventually manifesting behind him, forming an exceedingly bizarre demon shadow.

Looking at this demon shadow, Angel felt puzzled: “Why just a shadow, where's the demon?”
