Chapter 1549
Chapter 1549: Section 1550 Dong Liz Chapter 1549: Section 1550 Dong Liz Because the two contestants of this match are both highly potential seed players, the spectator seats are almost full.
Only one area is somewhat vacant.
That is where Angel is located.
Perhaps due to the awe of Angel, the seats within ten meters around him are completely empty. Except for Serum and Lyon, no one dares to approach here, creating a void around him.
Whispers and discussions about Angel are heard around, and he is almost the most frequently mentioned until the contestants enter. The discussion then gradually subsides. However, the audience's gaze still occasionally drifts towards Angel, their eyes filled with fear, yet curiosity prevails.
After the contestants took the stage, the floating light screen displayed their names.
“Shadow Goose Woman VS Noctilucent.”
“Noctilucent's real name is Xiliu, and she is my next opponent. This is her third match; in her first match, she voluntarily admitted defeat mid-fight against 'Cold Gaze Cat' Yehe; in her second match, she easily won against 'Bai Yu' Bolin whose strength was very poor,” Serum whispered, “Her previous game data is too scarce. Her second match cannot be taken as a reference, for 'Bai Yu' Bolin was too weak; even I could easily win. Judging only from her first match with Yehe, she seems to be a capable contestant.”
“Cold Gaze Cat” Yehe, from Winter Academy, and Diescher, the editor-in-chief of “Glowing City Night Talk”, spoke very highly of him, categorizing him as an absolute Supernova.
“Back then, Xiliu and Yehe were evenly matched, which suggests her strength is commendable. However, Xiliu didn't last long before she admitted defeat voluntarily, and the exact reason is still unknown. There are two theories currently; the first is that she did it to hide her strength, and the second is that she looked unbothered, but was actually at the end of her tether, hence conceding defeat.”
“If it's the first scenario, it could be difficult for me to win against her. But if it's the latter, I might have a chance to fight it out. What do you think?”
Serum spoke for quite some time, but received no response. Curiously, he turned back and found that Angel's attention was locked on the field.
However, his focus wasn't on Noctilucent Xiliu.
Instead, on the other contestant from Shaloo Ridge–Shadow Goose Woman.
Serum noticed that Angel's gaze carried a hint of inquiry, seemingly recognizing the Shadow Goose Woman.
Just as Serum was about to ask, a strange female voice from behind them chimed in: “Lord Pat, you seem quite interested in my not-so-lovely colleague, huh?”
This voice was peculiar because it simultaneously carried two distinct tones. Like a ghostly whisper from the Abyssal Depth coupled with the laziness of sunlight abundance.
Serum turned his head and saw a girl wearing a large hat, now sitting in the previously empty seats behind them.
The girl's eyes flickered with cruelty and a bloodthirsty gleam, her cheeks tinged with a blush and the corners of her mouth curling into a faint, mocking smile, as if scorning the world.
A classic case of a sickly cute girl.
Her hat was notably extravagant–a typical Xinan hat. The top of the hat was conical with wire framing the interior; the brim had a golden ring to keep it in shape, with the front lined with dark-black velvet and silver gauze dangling from it.
“Dong Liz,” Serum's eyes flickered with caution as he softly called out the name.
The sickly cute girl, named Dong Liz, turned her head towards Serum with a quirky chuckle, “Calling a girl directly by her name isn't polite, oh, my unlovely little brother.”
Caught off guard, Serum changed his approach, “Miss in the black hat, is there something you need?”
Dong Liz cheerily waved a ticket for the match, answering Serum's question. She had a ticket, and since no one occupied the seat, there was no problem with her sitting there.
Then, Dong Liz continued to gaze at Angel, her eyes gleaming with a strange red light.
After a moment of silence, Angel asked, “Are you also from Shaloo Ridge?”
The word “also” indicated that Angel recognized the contestant on stage, “Shadow Goose Woman” Si Man.
Dong Liz nodded, “It seems the lord does indeed know Si Man. Are you curious about Si Man? I have some insider information about her that I could share with you~”
Angel looked towards Dong Liz, her face obscured by the gauze, appearing somewhat vague, “And then?”
“I only ask for a small fee, would you agree to that?”
Angel narrowed his eyes: “The cost?”
Dong Liz pointed to the hat on Angel's head: “I only want one of your hats, sir. It would look lovely on my sister.”
Hat? Sister? Angel didn't quite understand what Dong Liz was talking about.
After mentioning her sister, the brutal and bizarre look in Dong Liz's eyes suddenly disappeared, replaced with obsession and admiration: “My sister's dearest wish is to open a hat museum. Her wish is also my wish.”
Dong Liz nonsensically talked about “hats,” “sisters,” and “museums.”
The more she spoke, the more obsessed she appeared, as if experiencing a climactic moment of reminiscence, before finally gazing at Angel with blushed cheeks: “Sir, I only ask for a tiny hat, will you agree?”
Angel actually had some questions about Si Man that he wanted to ask Dong Liz, but seeing her strange demeanor, he eventually shook his head: “I'm not interested in Si Man.”
Dong Liz paused for a moment, but soon recovered, expressing regret: “Ah, that's too bad then. If Mr. Pat needs my help with anything, feel free to ask me anytime. The price remains the same, one of your hats will do.”
After saying this, Dong Liz left the seating area with a “hee hee” laugh.
Once Dong Liz left, the silent Lyon finally asked curiously: “What's up with her? Is there…something wrong here?”
Lyon gestured towards his head with his fingers.
Serum nodded profoundly: “I think there's something wrong with her head as well.”
Angel, however, was used to this; the expression of Dong Liz and the Basket Witch were almost cast from the same mold, morbidly cruel; it seemed one was obsessed with baskets, and the other with hats. Could it be anything else but typical of Shaloo Ridge?
Serum hesitated, a trace of wariness flickering in his eyes: “However…her strength is truly formidable, and all her rivals, except those who surrendered immediately, were beheaded by her. She said it was to make molds for holding hats.”
“Using human heads as molds just to hold hats? That cruel?” Lyon frowned: “Then the person who defeated her, why didn't they kill her when they had the chance?”
“Because…so far, no one has defeated her.” Serum sighed, “She's been nicknamed the dark horse of this Supernova contest. There are even rumors she might even break Jiebo's undefeated legend.”
Lyon gasped in surprise; he hadn't expected that the seemingly fragile girl might be so formidable.
At that moment, Angel said, “Jiebo's undefeated legend was broken a long time ago.”
Serum paused, then reacted, realizing Angel was actually referring to Xiliu. Indeed, Jiebo could be considered the strongest Apprentice, but his natural nemesis was Xiliu.
Facing others, Xiliu might not demonstrate such overpowering strength. But against Jiebo, it was a complete domination.
“I guess Jiebo must be praying he doesn't encounter Xiliu,” Serum chuckled.
Angel shook his head: “I don't think so.”
Although Xiliu's ability restrained Jiebo, Jiebo seemed quite concerned about Xiliu; Angel had seen Jiebo mention Xiliu many times, not out of fear, but rather a veiled anticipation.
As they discussed Jiebo, the contest entered the final two-minute countdown.
On stage, Si Man and another contender settled in position.
Lyon, looking at Si Man, asked Angel: “By the way, hearing your conversation just now, it seems you know the Shadow Goose Woman?”
Serum also looked curious, waiting for Angel's response.
Angel: “I've met her a few times, but I don't know her well.”
Angel didn't seem to be hiding something, so Lyon continued: “Then you seem quite concerned about her? Could it be…”
Angel shook his head: “It's not her I'm concerned about, but rather, she reminds me of someone else.”
A figure flashed through his mind, wearing a deep blue uniform with white trim, a bit plump but with very sharp eyes.
“When I returned to the Old Earth Continent, I traveled on the Cloud Conch. At the time, one of the deputy captains named Helen was a very competent and responsible lady. Later, she was taken to Shaloo Ridge by Si Man, and she might also be a Transcendent by now?”
