Chapter 3795: Second Rank And Top Two!

Chapter 3795: Second Rank And Top Two!

The list continued climbing, and soon people with a score of Rank Four appeared. Then Rank Three.

By now the hall had become increasingly excited. Any recruit who reached these levels possessed genuine talent. Even the elders were paying close attention. Little Bull watched quietly.

Finally, the highest rankings appeared and the hall became completely silent. Only a handful of names remained.

Then the second rank appeared and a single name shone brightly across the formation screen.

Little Bull.

For the first time, even Lin Mu felt surprised.

"Number two?" Little Bull muttered while raising his brows.

Beside him, Elder He Jian smiled. It was clear that the old man had already been informed earlier. Still, seeing it publicly announced filled him with satisfaction. After all, few recruiting elders ever discovered talents like this.

The surrounding recruits immediately turned toward Little Bull as shock spread throughout the hall. Some stared, others blinked repeatedly and several looked utterly confused. The simple villager from yesterday had ranked second in the entire recruitment cycle!

Only now did many realize why so many elders had been observing him.

Little Bull continued reading, then his eyes widened seeing his score.

"Rank Two?" he asked.

This time he seemed genuinely surprised.

Elder He Jian nodded. "Indeed."

Little Bull scratched his head. "What does that mean again?"

Several nearby recruits almost fainted.

The old man chuckled. "It means you may directly enter the Inner Court."

The surrounding recruits stared at Little Bull with envy. Many disciples spent centuries if not millennia trying to enter the Inner Court. Some never succeeded. Yet this villager had achieved it before even becoming a disciple.

Elder He Jian continued speaking. "It also means you possess the qualifications to eventually enter the Core Court."

The surrounding hall became even quieter as they heard the words.

The Core Court.

That was where the true elites of the sect gathered, the future leaders, the future elders and the future pillars of the Heavenly Stream Guardian Sect. Perhaps even the future Patriarch or Matriarch themselves.

Little Bull looked at the glowing words for several moments.

Then he turned toward He Jian. "Elder?"

"Yes?"

"Do Inner Court disciples get more food?"

For a second, complete silence filled the hall. Then Elder He Jian burst into laughter. Several elders watching from above covered their faces and many recruits looked speechless.

The young man who had just become the second ranked recruit of the entire assessment cycle cared about only one thing: Food.

Meanwhile, high above the gathering hall, hidden observation rooms contained dozens of elders watching the announcement. The moment Little Bull’s rank appeared, arguments immediately started again.

And somewhere within the highest levels of the sect, several powerful figures began making preparations.

Because now that the rankings were public, the real battle over Little Bull was about to begin. And now that the rankings had become fully visible, the gathering hall erupted into noise.

A moment ago, everyone had been quietly watching the formation screen while waiting for the final results. Now hundreds of recruits were talking at once. Some were celebrating, some were arguing, some were complaining, and others were simply staring blankly at the rankings as if they could not believe what they were seeing.

The largest source of shock was naturally Little Bull.

Not only had he ranked second overall among all recruits, but his actual assessment rank was Rank Two.

Those were two entirely different things.

The overall ranking compared all recruits against each other, while the assessment rank measured their future potential according to the sect’s standards. Thus, a recruit could technically rank first overall while still only possessing a Rank Three evaluation if the batch was weak.

Little Bull had accomplished both. Not only was he second overall, but he was also Rank Two. The implications were enormous and many recruits simply could not understand it. Some looked at Little Bull with disbelief, others looked at him with envy and a few appeared deeply frustrated.

Among them were several young cultivators who had spent decades if not longer, preparing for entry into the Heavenly Stream Guardian Sect. Many had been raised by powerful clans, many had been personally trained by immortals, and many had studied cultivation techniques since childhood.

Yet all of them had been surpassed by a simple villager who barely seemed to understand how the sect worked.

"He doesn’t even know the difference between an inner disciple and an outer disciple."

"Yesterday he asked whether food came from inside the illusion array."

"I heard he thought formation masters were farmers."

"How did someone like that become Rank Two?"

The complaints spread continuously. Yet no matter how much people grumbled, none of them could actually challenge the results. Because everyone had witnessed the assessments.

The vitality test alone had nearly blinded half the observers and the combat assessment had become the talk of the entire Outer Court. Even those who disliked Little Bull had no choice but to admit that his score was deserved.

There was simply no argument against it.

The young man had crushed every test involving natural talent. He possessed frightening vitality, four elemental affinities, a mysterious physique and physical power capable of defeating immortal beasts.

Anyone who challenged those results would only embarrass themselves.

Thus the complaints never truly developed into opposition. People could grumble, people could complain, and people could feel jealous, but nobody could deny the facts. As a result, many recruits found comfort elsewhere.

At least there was still someone ranked above him.

The attention that had been focused entirely on Little Bull slowly began shifting toward the first position. The top name on the ranking list remained shining brightly above all others.

Lushi Tangmen.

The name was repeated again as the supervising elders officially announced the top rankings. Immediately countless eyes turned toward the crowd as everyone wanted to see who had managed to surpass the monstrous villager.

Even the elders seemed interested.

After all, while Little Bull had nearly caused a civil war among them, Lushi Tangmen had attracted plenty of attention as well. The disputes surrounding him had simply been quieter, and several powerful elders had already begun arguing over him before the rankings were publicly announced.

Now those discussions were likely to become even more intense.
