Chapter 3750: Updated Information Arrives

Chapter 3750: Updated Information Arrives

Nearly another month passed before the next major update finally arrived.

Lady Kang’s people had been spread all across the Eastern Immortal Court during this time. Merchants, scouts, transport officials and informants all moved quietly, gathering information about the Heavenly Stream Guardian Sect and especially their recruitment efforts.

Finally enough information had accumulated.

Everyone gathered once more in the meeting hall.

This time even Jing Wei had shown up having been told about the operation since the man was wondering what Lin Mu and the others had been doing all this time.

He came carrying a jug of wine while Meng Bai sat eagerly near the front. Daoist Chu, Elyon and Cattaleya all took their seats while Lady Kang stood near the center of the room.

Min Ju activated the formation disc as light spread and the familiar formation screen appeared once more.

This time there were faces.

Many of them.

Nearly twenty figures floated before everyone.

Most wore the robes of the Heavenly Stream Guardian Sect. A few appeared standing beside flying ships while others seemed to be in cities or mountains.

Meng Bai blinked.

"So many?"

Lady Kang nodded.

"These are the recruitment elders we managed to identify."

She enlarged the display.

"Most do not hide their identities. Recruitment is an open affair after all."

Images shifted.

One elder walked through a market with dozens of recruits following him.

Another stood in a city square while people lined up nearby.

One woman sat in a pavilion while cultivators demonstrated techniques before her.

"In fact," Lady Kang continued, "many people actively seek them out."

The display showed groups of young cultivators following one elder.

"They hope to be selected."

Lin Mu quietly observed.

Then he moved.

His immortal sense spread across the display and began filtering information.

The first category disappeared immediately.

Southern Court.

Northern Court.

Western Court.

Half the projections vanished.

Only around ten remained.

"No need to look outside the Eastern Court." Lin Mu spoke.

Everyone nodded.

He continued filtering.

Distance.

Travel time.

Accessibility.

Teleportation routes.

Several more disappeared.

Five remained.

All five could be reached from Fox Scion World and the teleportation routes would take roughly fifteen to twenty days.

Meng Bai looked impressed.

"That fast?"

Lady Kang nodded.

"The Great Kang Clan already has established routes."

Lin Mu however continued.

Travel distance was not enough.

He opened their records.

Personalities.

Recruitment history.

Selection habits.

Preferences.

One elder only accepted sword cultivators.

Another preferred clan disciples.

One favored Alchemists.

Two more disappeared.

Three remained.

Lin Mu read further.

One elder strongly preferred disciples with family backing and established identities.

He vanished too.

Now only two remained.

Everyone looked at them.

Both were middle aged men.

Neither looked particularly imposing.

Their records however were interesting.

Lady Kang enlarged their profiles.

"Elder He Jian."

"Elder Xu Liang."

Both had open personalities.

Neither cared much about origins.

Both were known to recruit freely.

More importantly...

They had accepted many commoners and unknown cultivators previously.

Meng Bai nodded repeatedly.

"These two are good."

Lin Mu agreed silently since background mattered. He could not take over the identity of some famous genius. Nor someone from a great clan. That would collapse immediately under scrutiny.

He needed someone ordinary, someone overlooked and for that... The elder mattered more than talent.

Lady Kang changed the display again.

Two worlds appeared.

One floated quietly in space.

Smaller.

Less developed.

The second looked vast and prosperous.

Cities glowed everywhere.

Transport routes covered continents.

Lin Mu first looked at the smaller one.

Lady Kang explained.

"A Lesser immortal world."

The projection enlarged.

Several kingdoms.

A few sects.

Scattered territories.

"One known Transcendent." she added.

Meng Bai looked surprised.

"Only one?"

Lady Kang nodded.

"It is not an important world."

Lin Mu memorized everything.

This place suited him.

Simple.

Quiet.

Less attention.

Then they moved to the second world.

Everyone immediately noticed the difference.

Massive cities.

Empires.

Dozens of sects.

Transport hubs.

Immortal Court outposts.

"The world is comparable to Rust Sky World." Lady Kang explained.

"Six empires."

"Multiple kingdoms."

"Many large sects."

"The Immortal Court maintains strong control there."

Meng Bai looked impressed.

Cattaleya however frowned.

"Too crowded."

Lin Mu nodded.

That was exactly the issue. His arrival there could be noticed.

Too many eyes.

Too many powers.

Too many experts.

If anyone discovered him questions would follow.

The first world was safer.

Lady Kang seemed to already know his thoughts.

"The teleportation arrays there are independent." she said.

Lin Mu looked at her.

"Different organizations control them."

That decided it.

No centralized oversight.

Less chance of tracking.

More freedom.

Lady Kang calmly added.

"I can prepare an identity."

Meng Bai blinked.

"A fake one?"

Lady Kang shook her head.

"A real one."

Everyone looked at her.

"With the Great Kang Clan’s connections, identities are not difficult."

Lin Mu nodded.

He already expected as much.

Besides...

He would become someone else anyway.

His appearance.

Personality.

Cultivation.

Everything would change.

The room fell silent.

Meng Bai looked at the world name floating on the screen.

He read it aloud.

"So..."

He smiled.

"The Holy Chrysalis World it is."

The name lingered in the room.

Lin Mu looked at the projection quietly.

Holy Chrysalis World.

The first step.

His path toward the Heavenly Stream Guardian Sect had finally taken form.

Yet as he stared at the world...

Another thought surfaced.

Chrysalis.

Transformation.

Rebirth.

He almost laughed internally.

Of all places...

The world itself seemed to mock what he was about to do.

Because by the time he left that place... Lin Mu would likely no longer exist. At least not on the surface. Someone else would walk into the Heavenly Stream Guardian Sect. Someone carefully crafted, someone believable... Someone real.

And somewhere beneath that false face...

The true Lin Mu would search for the vault.

For the inheritance.

And for the final ring waiting within it.

Plus Lin Mu knew he would have to do all this alone. Other than his tamed beasts whom he could bring easily with the Sleepscape, his companions could not follow him. Infiltration was hard enough alone, and with more people it would only get impossible.
