Chapter 3746: Sect Recruitment
Chapter 3746: Sect Recruitment
Lin Mu looked at the floating map again.
Entire continents.
Cities.
Branches.
Millions upon millions of people.
Countless experts.
Hidden ancestors.
And somewhere within all that...
The vault.
The third ring.
He slowly exhaled.
"This is going to be troublesome."
Lady Kang nodded immediately.
"Extremely."
Min Ju finally spoke.
"There is more."
Everyone looked toward her.
She handed another jade slip to Lady Kang.
Lady Kang read it.
Her expression changed slightly.
"What is it?" Lin Mu asked.
Lady Kang looked at everyone.
"The sect has begun preparations for a recruitment cycle."
Meng Bai straightened.
"Recruitment?"
Lady Kang nodded.
"A major one."
She enlarged the projection again.
Large banners appeared.
Selection notices.
Schedules.
Invitations.
"The main sect is accepting new disciples."
The room suddenly grew quiet.
Lin Mu looked at the screen.
Then at Lady Kang.
Their eyes met.
Neither spoke.
But everyone understood.
An opportunity had just appeared.
Lin Mu looked at the floating projection while several recruitment notices slowly scrolled across it. Various worlds, branch locations, candidate numbers and elder movements were all listed one after another.
He remained silent for a few moments before finally speaking.
"This large scale recruitment..." Lin Mu began. "When exactly did it start?"
Lady Kang adjusted the projection and brought up another set of records.
"Technically?" she replied. "It began a couple years ago."
Meng Bai blinked.
"A couple years?" he asked. "And it is still going on?"
The young man looked genuinely stunned.
He had expected perhaps several months at most.
Elyon spoke before Lady Kang could answer.
"Sects of this scale take a very long time for recruitment." the wolfkin explained calmly. "The Heavenly Stream Guardian Sect spans several courts and countless worlds. Bringing disciples from all those places takes time."
He pointed at the map.
"Even teleportation arrays have limits. Organizing transport, assessments, branch transfers, documentation and sect entry procedures can easily take years."
Meng Bai nodded immediately.
"That makes sense..."
Lady Kang continued from there.
"The recruitment itself will likely continue for another year or two." she explained. "Even after it officially ends, disciples already selected will still keep arriving."
Lin Mu narrowed his eyes slightly.
That meant the sect would remain active and busy for quite some time.
Movement.
Transfers.
New identities appearing.
A large influx of people.
All of that created opportunities.
"Where is the recruitment happening?" Lin Mu asked.
Lady Kang changed the display again.
Several markers appeared.
"The branch sects handle most of it." she said. "Though they are not the only source."
The image shifted.
Three figures appeared.
Two old men.
One middle aged woman.
All three wore robes bearing the symbol of the Heavenly Stream Guardian Sect.
"These are wandering recruitment elders." Lady Kang said. "They travel independently looking for talent."
Meng Bai leaned closer.
"Strong..."
Even without sensing directly the pressure shown in the records was enough.
All three were Fifth Tribulation Immortals.
The young man suddenly chuckled.
"These elders are at the same stage as Master."
Daoist Chu snorted.
"That means little."
He casually drank his tea.
"Most people at the same stage as Lin Mu are weaker than him anyway."
Cattaleya nodded immediately.
"Way weaker."
Elyon silently agreed too.
Lady Kang merely smiled as if that conclusion was obvious.
Lin Mu meanwhile focused on their locations.
One elder was currently moving through the Southern Immortal Court.
The woman and another elder remained within the Eastern Court.
Unfortunately all three were far away.
Very far.
Even with flying ships and teleportation support it would still take nearly a year to reach them.
Lin Mu frowned slightly.
Too distant.
Too slow.
He looked toward Lady Kang.
"Can you gather information on more recruitment elders?"
Lady Kang tilted her head.
"You have an idea?"
Lin Mu nodded.
"I do."
Everyone looked toward him.
"Entering through a branch sect will place me under scrutiny for too long." Lin Mu explained. "A recruitment elder offers better chances."
He pointed toward the three projections.
"Disciples personally brought in by elders usually have more freedom."
Daoist Chu stroked his beard.
"True..."
Lin Mu continued.
"If I can enter directly under one of them, the investigation around me becomes smaller."
Meng Bai nodded before pausing.
"Wait... then what identity will Master use?"
Lin Mu answered immediately.
"Someone real."
Everyone paused.
Lady Kangโs eyes narrowed slightly.
Lin Mu calmly continued.
"I intend to take the identity of someone who already existed."
Silence spread.
"Someone deceased perhaps." Lin Mu added. "Or someone who disappeared."
Meng Bai slowly blinked.
"You mean... steal their identity?"
Lin Mu shook his head.
"Borrow."
"That sounds worse." Cattaleya muttered.
Lin Mu ignored her.
"A completely fabricated identity will invite inspection," he explained. "An existing person leaves traces naturally."
He tapped the table.
"Records."
"Birth."
"Family."
"Travel."
"Witnesses."
"All of that already exists."
Lady Kang slowly nodded.
It was actually reasonable.
Daoist Chu frowned though.
"Even then you still have another problem."
Lin Mu looked at him.
"Your cultivation."
The man leaned back.
"You cannot walk into the sect looking like this."
He gestured at Lin Mu.
"Youโre already at the Fifth Tribulation stage and thatโs not counting your body cultivation. Any false identity would have to match that."
Meng Bai nodded too.
"Master cannot pretend to be a disciple if he looks stronger than half the sect."
Lin Mu simply replied.
"I already solved that."
Everyone looked at him.
Even Lady Kang paused.
Daoist Chu raised a brow.
"You did?"
Lin Mu nodded calmly.
"I found a method."
Naturally he did not elaborate further.
The Absolute Body Control Art remained private for now.
Daoist Chu only nodded.
He already assumed this was either Lin Muโs own creation or another absurd inheritance from his mysterious master.
Neither option surprised him anymore.
Lady Kang changed the projection again.
This time the Heavenly Stream Guardian Sect itself appeared.
Or rather...
Its world.
Everyone fell silent.
Cities spread across entire continents.
Forests stretched endlessly.
Mountain ranges.
Lakes.
Rivers.
Cultivation grounds.
Ancient ruins.
Beast territories.
Transport formations.
Floating structures.
Merchant cities.
The scale was absurd.
