Chapter 3538: Devastating An Army

Chapter 3538: Devastating An Army

"Why..." Lin Mu asked slowly, his gaze settling on the young nobles. "Why would you do this?"

For a moment, the youngsters were stunned into silence. Then one of them scoffed and stepped forward.

"Who do you think you are?" demanded a prince of the Olive Canopy Kingdom.

"That is right!" another prince from the Alabaster Plains Kingdom sneered. "How dare you interfere with us?"

Lin Mu’s eyes grew colder.

"How dare I?" he repeated softly. "You attack my beasts and you dare ask me that?"

"Those beasts belong to you?" the princess of the Olive Canopy Kingdom asked. Her gaze sharpened. "Then name your price. I want them."

Lin Mu did not bother responding with words.

Instead, it was answered with a roar.

ROAR!

The heavens trembled.

Little Shrubby descended from the sky like a falling star, flames and lightning intertwining around his massive form. His roar shook the earth, sending waves of fear through the assembled army.

"Heavens above..." someone whispered.

The ten meter tall beast radiated overwhelming pressure. His presence alone was enough to make weaker cultivators stumble backward in terror.

Shrubby landed beside Lin Mu, claws digging into the earth, his eyes locked onto the army. All it would take was one command for the forest to turn into a sea of fire and thunder.

Lin Mu, however, remained calm.

He had already pieced everything together from their clothing, insignias, and formation.

"Disciples of the Boundless River Sect and Golden Urn Sect," Lin Mu said evenly. "Princes and princesses of the three kingdoms."

"Oh? So you recognize us," the prince of the Olive Canopy Kingdom said smugly. "Then kneel."

"Kneel?" Lin Mu nearly laughed. "It seems the curse of young masters has reached even this world."

The nobles frowned, confused by his words.

"Still not kneeling?" the Great Steppe Kingdom princess snapped angrily. "Do you need to be taught manners?"

"Oh, there will be a lesson," Lin Mu replied calmly, his gaze locking onto her. "But it will not be for me."

"HOW DARE YOU!" the Alabaster Plains Kingdom prince roared. "Soldiers! Break his limbs and bring him to me!"

"How dare a rogue cultivator block our path!" the Alabaster princess shouted.

"Hmph," Lin Mu replied softly.

SHUA

His aura surged outward like a tidal wave.

THUD THUD THUD

Cultivators buckled. Several soldiers collapsed to their knees, blood rushing in their ears as their hearts pounded violently. This was not even killing intent, merely the pressure of his presence.

But this was only the beginning.

SHUA SHUA

The female core disciples of the Boundless River Sect gritted their teeth and launched an attack. A massive river formed in midair and surged toward Lin Mu.

"Since you enjoy playing with water," Lin Mu said calmly as he raised his hands, "let me show you something as well."

HONG LONG

The Water Core within his body spun violently.

The disciples of the Boundless River Sect felt it immediately. Their faces drained of color.

"This power..." they whispered.

They possessed innate water affinity. They knew exactly what they were sensing.

And it terrified them.

It was water Qi, but refined beyond anything they had ever encountered.

GUSH GUSH GUSH

Every body of water within ten kilometers responded.

Lakes surged upward. Rivers twisted into the air. Streams tore free from the earth. Even puddles rose and hovered, defying gravity itself.

The river under the control of the Boundless River Sect disciples tore itself free and rushed toward Lin Mu instead.

"Look at the rivers!"

"The lakes are rising!"

"So much water!"

The army stared in horror as the water gathered around Lin Mu.

HUALA

The water transformed.

Its fluid nature hardened, sharpened, and condensed.

Weapons began to form. Tens. Hundreds. Thousands. Tens of thousands.

The sky darkened beneath an ocean of water forged armaments.

Each weapon carried power comparable to a mid grade immortal weapon. All were aimed directly at the army and the young nobles.

"This is impossible..." someone whispered.

"Is that the Water General’s Armament Technique?" a Boundless River Sect disciple gasped.

"But that is a spirit realm technique!"

Fear finally took hold.

"Activate the escape talismans!" someone shouted. "Send the young masters and mistresses away!"

Before the nobles could even react, talismans were slapped onto their bodies.

SHUA SHUA SHUA

They vanished into the Lesser Void, teleporting away at high speed.

Lin Mu watched them leave, his expression unchanged. He could have stopped them. But reason still guided him.

"What should we do now, Master?" the twins asked.

"Should I kill them all?" Shrubby growled softly.

"No," Lin Mu replied, waving his hand. "I will handle this."

SHALA

The weapons dissolved into water and merged into a massive wall over a hundred meters tall.

The army trembled.

"Since you were following orders," Lin Mu said coldly, "I will spare your lives."

Relief flickered across many faces.

"But you will not walk away unscathed."

Lin Mu lowered his hand.

The wall collapsed into a devastating wave.

It surged forward, crushing everything in its path.

Bones shattered. Meridians snapped. Bodies were flung aside like leaves in a storm.

In a single instant, the army was completely wiped out.

None of the soldiers had thought when they woke up today, that they would be facing such a crushing defeat today.

As for the young masters and mistresses of the major powers, the fear was even greater, but mixed in that fear was anger.

Anger at being defied, and anger at being defeated in such a way that they had no option but to retreat. Of course, they were not going to take this standing down.

It only took a few seconds for them to return to the city and just a few more minutes to tell their masters and parents what had just happened. Fury erupted at the center of the city, as every major power, whether it be a sect or a kingdom began to act.

And the feeling of unease that Lin Mu had been having for over a week only got more intense.
