Chapter 2913: Lady Kang's Message

Chapter 2913: Lady Kang's Message

The two shared tea as Lin Mu recounted the resources received and the message. The abbot raised a brow at the mention of Primordial Metal Essence and the Earth Pulse Origin Pearl.

"That combination…" he murmured. "With your Gravity Dao and new physique, this could open the way for the next leap."

"Yes," Lin Mu said, his expression serious.

After a long breath and a calming sip of tea, Lin Mu picked up the third jade slip.

He could already sense it was different from the previous ones. It held no spiritual tension, no emotional charge—only calm, structured information. The sort of thing Lady Kang would prepare when dealing with serious clan matters.

He pressed it to his forehead, and the contents flowed into his mind like a silent waterfall.

"Mission Status: Incomplete. Update Required."

Lady Kang's voice returned, now distant and cool—her tone all business.

"Lin Mu. This jade slip contains updates on the task I entrusted to you long ago—concerning my clan's ancestral seal."

"I regret to inform you that I still haven't been able to pinpoint its exact location."

"What I've gathered over the past few years through the Kang Clan's shadow archives, scouts, and diviners is… hazy at best. The only consensus we've reached is that the seal was lost somewhere within the Southern Immortal Court's domain."

"More precisely, within a vast region known as the Asteroid Fields of Nam'Zir—a spatially unstable territory that fluctuates between planes. Once part of the court's borderlands, it is now considered a no-man's land."

"That entire zone is extremely dangerous. Spatial fractures, sealed ruins, corrupted immortal lands… and worse."

Lin Mu's brow furrowed.

"Some elders believe the seal may have been taken, others think it was lost in a rift, but whatever the truth, the seal was the foundation of the Great Kang Clan's authority. We must retrieve it someday."

"That said, you are not obligated to pursue this mission right now. Your progress and growth come first. Until I gather more concrete clues, treat this as a long-term goal."

Then her tone softened slightly—just enough to be noticeable.

This was the first report that was recorded in the slip. It pertained to the commissions that Lady Kang had set for Lin Mu, but there was another one in it. And this one was something Lin Mu had requested.

"I've found some clues to the Vault of the Virtuous Calamity Daoist."

The first line read.

'So she had some luck in this. Good.' Lin Mu was pleased but didn't get his hopes up just yet.

"From the few clues we've found, there were indeed mentions of a certain vault that had the symbol you described. While its exact location is unknown, the information about the vault came from some informants in the Eastern Immortal Court.

There are several strongholds of the Hardliners in the Eastern Immortal Court, and it is likely that the vault might be in one of them. I'll continue looking into it and will update you whenever I get the information."

She finished her report about it with this.

"Hmm… the Eastern Immortal Court." Lin Mu muttered.

He knew that the Eastern Immortal Court was the territory of the Hardliners of the Immortal Court. While they weren't the majority in the Immortal Court when considering their total numbers, they were still the majority in the Eastern Immortal Court, with most of them having a lot of their bases located there.

This included the worlds under the Immortal Court as well as various sects. Depending on where it was, finding the vault could get quite difficult.

'It certainly would have taken me a long time to learn this without Lady Kang's help.' Lin Mu thought to himself.

He continued reading the rest of the messages in the jade slip, which contained some miscellaneous notes, as well as Lady Kang telling him that he could contact the allies of the Great Kang Clan if he needed any help.

But there was another line in it that caught his attention.

"Of course, if you feel like coming to visit… I wouldn't object."

Lin Mu blinked.

Visit?

His mind flashed back to her indignant scolding earlier, then to the time she had silently waited for him during their brief moments of peace, when the court's chaos didn't swallow them.

"...She's still Lady Kang through and through," he muttered with a small smile.

Then her voice returned, with one last note:

"Daoist Chu told me to pass a message to you."

"He says: 'I'll be seeing you soon. Prepare tea.'"

Lin Mu nearly choked.

"He's coming here? Already?"

He sat back in stunned silence. Daoist Chu had been gone for nearly ten years now, and he certainly missed the man—and so did Meng Bai.

The monk beside him chuckled softly, evidently having read Lin Mu's face.

"An old friend?" the abbot asked.

"A good but troublesome one," Lin Mu sighed.

"Then he will fit in nicely here," the abbot said serenely.

Lin Mu looked back at the jade slip, feeling a whirlwind of obligations and emotions stir inside him. The mission about the Kang Clan Seal, the possibility of meeting Lady Kang again, and now the impending arrival of Daoist Chu—everything was starting to converge once more.

The quiet years at the monastery may have been coming to an end.

Still, Lin Mu was not the same man who had stepped into the mountains with wounds and burdens on his soul.

He now bore the Burdenless Dominator Physique, a new Dao Embryo, and the weight of gravity itself as his ally.

He wasn't just stronger. He was steadier.

"Alright," he said aloud, standing up as the evening breeze rolled across the courtyard. "Let's finish training this body properly. If Chu's coming, I'll need more than tea—I'll need spiritual earplugs."

The Abbot beside him laughed.

Unlike the Abbot of the Green Lotus Temple, the Abbot of the Great Burden Monastery was a lot more open to humor. Especially after the 'burden' of impending doom on their heads had been lifted.
